Thank you all for your comments. Loosing a desired pregnancy is so difficult to handle so it's great to have inspiration and support. So I found out I was pregnant August 12th, started bleeding August 17th. Went in for a transv____al ultrasound Aug 18th and they couldn't find an ectopic or an intrauterine pregnancy. My ob said it might have been too early to see anything as I was only 5 1/2 weeks and my HCG at that time was 1894. My HCG's were still rising over the weekend (2230 by Aug 19th), but not doubling or tripling as expected. Came to see my ob today (Aug 22nd) and he did a transv____al again. It was verified that there was no intrauterine pregnancy and now he suspected that there may be an ectopic in the left tube. HCG was 3074. Got my dose of methotrexate today. He told me that I shouldn't try to conceive again until four weeks after my HCG has gone down to 0 (which, I've read, can take a while). I will check my HCG on Friday, and again on Monday. If the numbers do not go down by 15% each time, then I will need a second shot. I wanted to make everyone aware that the studies so far has shown that the dose of methotrexate given for an ectopic pregnancy has not been shown to cause fetal abnormalities in subsequent pregnancies, no matter the duration that it takes for you to get pregnant again. Methotrexate dose given for ectopics are very low compared to regular high doses given when used to treat cancer or diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or psoriasis, and women who are currently ON Methotrexate for these diseases should not try to conceive. Most doctors do not want you to conceive too early after an ectopic because their is still a chance of rupture if the hcg levels are not at 0. Hope that helps, and POWER and XOXOXO to all of us!

i had an ectopic pregnancy in april. i also had the shot, after 3 different shots my levels finally reached 0 it took about a month for my levels to be 0 but since then i have only had one period. and i dont know if that has anything to do with it. i think it is kind of weird that i only had one about a month after the levels reached 0 but since then i have had hair loss, and of course my cycle. i am just wondering if it is normal to have one period in a range of 5 months and if it is normal how long does it normally take to get back on a normal cycle again. or is there something that i could take such as birth control to help my body get back to normal?? someone please help me i have been trying to look this information up, had multipul tests done to see what missing my period could be caused by but i cant find anything

I found out I was pregnat last tuesday and i was said to be 5 and a half weeks pregnant.. I was having light cramping and alot of spotting on and off for the first few days then it got heavy and went right back to spotting then heavy again . so i decided to go to the ER and they had did ultrasound and said that there was a possibility of 3 things..1)a miscarriage 2)an ectopoic pregnancy or 3)a pregnancy thats earlier then I thought..they checked my hcg levels and said they were at 600 which is very early pregnany level so then checked my blood pressure and it dropped so they kept me over night..sent me home next day and said come back the next day yo check levels again. so i did and my levels decreased to 459 they did another ultrasound and then said i do have an ectopic pregnancy they wanted me to get the shot i was sxcared and waited another day went back yesterday and finally they convinced me to get the shot even tho it looked like it was going away on its own..because my level dropped again to 400 i got the shot and i feel pretty good about mine going away before the week..i have to go back on sunday and i do want to try again what are your guys thoughts on trying again before 3 months

Nicaboo750, Sorry for your loss. Personally, I would wait and do what the doctors tell you. Methotrexate is generally used as a chemotherapy drug. Yes, they give you a very small dose of it, but do you really want to risk that being in your system when you conceive again? I actually had 3 shots of it and they basically told me to wait 3 months per dose. I was about 7 weeks along when I miscarried, but it wasn't discoverd until I had a dating scan at 10 weeks. I had no symptoms of miscarriage. I hadn't had an ultrasound done until that point and nobody realized that I had an ectopic. I ended up having ma__sive hemmoraging because my ectopic was in the scar of my previous c-section and the embryo implanted on an artery in it. When the embryo finally dislodged from the wall of the uterus (4 1/2 weeks after I found out I miscarried and also after 3 shots of methotrexate), it ruptured an artery which caused the hemmorage. So I was told to wait a full year before trying again just to give my body the chance to fully recover - I had to have 8 units of blood to keep me alive to have the procedure to stop the bleeding. So this was the bigger reason they told me to wait a full year. They weren't even sure that I would be able to conceive again after that. We started trying a year later and it took about 10 months for us to conceive and I had a perfectly normal and healthy pregnancy. I had to have a scheduled c-section, but I have perfectly healthy 15 month old girl now. Don't despair. Try to stay positive, be patient and take care of yourself. Your body and mind have to be healthy for you to have a healthy pregnancy! Good-luck.
