Triploidy Syndrome

I had to go to a high risk OB due to a suspicious spot on my placeta, well the OB told us that they cannot rule out Triploidy syndrome which is instead of 2 sets of chromosomes you have 3 sets. She said think of the abnormalities DS children have with just one extra chromosome. If the baby has triploidy it will not survive. We heard the heartbeat at 158 bpm and she measured and thought the head looked beautiful, I guess that is a marker for them to identify triploidy however I have to have an ultrasound every 2 weeks unstil she can see that the baby is healthy. I cannot find any info on the net really about this...I am only 25 years old and this is my 1st pregnancy so I am not sure how this could have happened. Please if you have any information I would appreciate it...

Tarah, I had a CVS test on my 14th week and it came back with the same thing, I cryed and cryed. Try looking on the www.March of Dimes.com site. Type in Triploidy, you should be able to find out alot, and try www. Wedmd.com too. Good luck..
