Hello ~
This is my first pregnancy and I'm just starting my 9th week. I had my 2nd Dr apt. today and she said from my last ultrasound at 71/2 weeks everything seemed fine except one thing. They saw the heartbeat and it was at like 162 which she said was very good and strong but in the Radiologist report it said that the fetus was of "abnormal configuration". My Dr. said that she did not know what that meant becasue she has never gotten a report back like that before. She said she didn't know if that meant I would miscarry or if the baby would be fine. Has anyone ever had a report like that before? They scheduled a follow up ultrasound but it's not until November and my husband and I are going out of our minds with worry. My Dr. said the fact that they saw the hearbeat and it was strong was a good sign and she said my uterus is the right size for how far a long I am too but what did the Radilogist mean then? Why she didn't follow up and ask him is beyond me and I wish I'd have asked her when I was there but I had so many things racing through my head I didn't think to. If anyone has ANY advice I would really really appreciate it! Thanks!

Well, that's not difficult at all. Find out the number to the radiologist (your doctor's office should have it) then simply call the radiologist and ask him/her yourself. I don't understand why your doc would just say that he doesn't know what it means. That's not what a doctor is for. It's his/her responsibility to find out what's going on, not to just stress you out for no good reason. I wouldn't worry about it, but I definitely think you should get a new ob/gyn asap.

Thanks! ~ I've been told that by at least 4 or 5 different people. I had the nurse at my Drs. office call the radiologist and they said that what they meant was they could not get a clear picture so they wrote it was an abnormal image. Still a little worried by the way my Dr. was acting about it but I feel a little better about it now. She actually said to me that she didn't know if that meant I would miscarry or if my baby would be fine... then when I was leaving she told me to pray a lot. So she freaked me out!

Ultrasounds can be wrong. I would suggest checking out this sight. It has some interesting cases of misdiagnosis. I wish you the best!
