i had an ultrasound at 6 weeks that showed a normal heartbeat, however, the tech saw a corpus luteal cyst of 6.5 cm. Has anyone else experienced this?

hi. i am 14 weeks into my pregnancy, and for 4 weeks i had been having some crampy pain in my lower right side. after a v____al ultrasound, it was determined i had a corpus lutem cyst. the doc said it was VERY common and was there to support the pregnancy until the placenta developed.

Yes I have lots of them. Apprently they normally contain progesterone which is good for the baby - they normally start to go down at around 12 weeks when the placenta takes over feeding the baby. I was tested for cancer (negative) due to the cyst (though only 5% are cancerous) but they are very normal in pregnancy.

My first scan was at 7 wks - and I had a slightly bigger cyst. They took regular scans to about 12 weeks to moniter it and each time it had reduced in size. Baby was fine!
