I'm sorry to hear about your gallstones(I would'nt wish them to my worse enemy) and like I told Tami before I know if you have to have surgery they prefer to do it when your in your second trimester and it does sound like you need that surgery.I know its not blocking anything with me so thats the reason I try to wait until after delivery and of course my medication helos.Yesterday I had another attack that must be like # 9 since march on the severe ones and of course once in a while I have some mild ones or just that pressure between my shoulder blades and my chest.I do have a question, if you were diagnosed with gallstones before you were pregnant, how come did you not do anything about it then? I do think that pregnant women suffer from more and more painfull attacks than a non pregnant person.

Well, I am back from having surgery. I had surgery early on Monday morning, and so far things have gone well. They put me all the way under, and the anesthesiologist said that our little Kailey wouldn't be as active the next couple days, but she is still kicking the living daylights out of me so we are very happy about that. According to my surgeon, it is good they took it out now becuase I had lots of gallstones, and one was lodged which was effecting my liver. I did start having some pretty bad contractions after, but they stopped those with a pill and checked my body to see if I was going into labor-thankfully the test came back negative and I have been fine since! It was scary though. I am just really sore now (they did open surgery) and my sweet little one keeps kicking right where my incison is-OW! Hopefully I keep on recovering! They let me out of the hospital last night late after I was able to keep down my dinner. My sweet husband has been waiting on me hand and foot and just being wonderful. We are very happy that everything went well, and I can't wait for my first big bite of spicy mexican food when I am up to it in a couple of weeks. Shelly-you only have five more weeks and you are at 37, you can do it! I hope that your attacks are getting less frequent and they can do the surgery after you give birth-of course you will get the larascopic surgery so you won't have to be sliced open and have a lovely scar. I am glad you don't have to worry about your baby and going into labor from the surgery. Anna-when are you scheduled for surgery? Do you know if they are going to do open on you since you are pregnant? I am sure that everything will work out great, you are even less far along than I am, so the chance of premature labor is even smaller. I am sure everythign will work out. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

I'm so happy everything went well with you.I really been thinking about you.Well at least you have the worse over with now.I was figuring that you had many gallstones and i was afraid you were having problems with your liver(Because of your skin turning yellowish).I do have another 5 to 8 weeks to go and than another 2 weeks before they take mine out.I hope you really enjoy that mexican bite you've been craving and have a sopapilla on me!!!!!!lol. And I really don't think you mind Kailey kicking against your incision, at least she letting you know she's up 'n hoppin'. Keep me posted on your pregnancy and recovery and I'll do the same. PS What state do you live in?????Oh and when your hurting just think about all the ice-cream you can have!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Shelley,
Thanks for thinking about me! Of course I don't mind Kailey kicking at me-that way I know she's healthy although you knew that! I am in Utah actually and I am 22 years old. I know, a little young for gall stones. Count me the lucky one-I am the one who always gets wonderful sicknesses and stuff. :) I went to Africa a couple years ago for a volunteer effort and spent the first couple months throwing up, having malaria, and then on top of that getting a bacterial infection while everyone else was happy and having fun! Go figure. I am just happy my baby is alright. I will be thinking of you when I have that first bite of mexican! :) How old are you and what state are you in? How have your attacks been lately? Hope they can stop altogether until you get to have that surgery. Yes, my liver was being affected so that's why they decided not to wait until the end. I am just glad that I don't have to worry anymore and maybe I can start gaining some weight so my little girl isn't tiny! I am actually about 10 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight right now and my doctor is getting a little concerned. So, when is your exact due date? Are you getting nervous for labor? I am a little more nervous after finding out just how painful contractions get! Of course I also had my chest cut open earlier and was hurting when I breathed as well, so it may not be as bad. I have heard that a gall bladder attack is worse than actual labor pain, so I guess we'll both find out huh? Are you going to get an epidural or try a natural birth?

Hey gals, I am scheduled for surgery on the 24 of this month. I didn't have them removed because I only had one attack and I read that many people can live with them, but they only got worse now that I am pregnant because of all the hormones and stuff. I also didn't like the surgeon that my doctor recommended. I am going to have laparoscopic surgery. The doctor says that it should be find since I am only 19 weeks pregnant and should have no problem healing after surgery. I have had a baby before and contractions are worse than gallstone attacks, believe me, but my first labor was induced so I had contractions 3 times worse than regular ones because of all the meds.

Sorry i haven't responded, but I've had some attacks and I still have that sharp pain between my shoulders. With other words I'm in a c___ppy mood.get back with you guys when I feel better.Oh, I'm defenetly going with epidural,I think I've suffered enough during this pregnancy. How about you,Tammi? And how are you feeling?Baby still kicking a lot? Anna, I hope your surgery goes as good as Tami's.Stay in touch!!!!!!I'll probably get back tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

Shelly-I understand! I hope that your attacks stop and you start feeling better. Before I had my surgery I was getting that sharp pain also. Not fun. hopefully it goes away soon. Anna-I am sure that your surgery will go fine! It is good if you have a surgeon you like and can trust. They did open on me only becuase I was so far along, so you'll have a much easier time recovering I am sure! Do you know what you are having yet?
My little girl is still kicking like crazy (usually right at my incision-what a sweetheart.) :) Oh well, I love her so I'll forgive her since she doesn't know what she is doing, and if she did I wouldn't care anyways. I am definitely going for an epidural when it comes to delivery time as well. Like you Shelly, I think that I've gone through enough pain this pregnancy already so give me the meds! I am hoping that I don't have to be induced to go into labor, becuase I have heard the pain is worse but if that's what it takes so I am not pregnant forever I will allow them to do it. My sister just had her first child and was 3 weeks overdue and he still hadn't dropped yet so they finally induced. I do not want to go through that!

I went yesterday to my two week appointment with my OB and asked her what to do if I get a gallstone attack DURING labor.I thought of that this week and couldn,t wait to ask her cuz epidural numbs you waist down and as you know gallstone pain is waist UP!!!!!!!!! I scrolled down to your questions. My due date is AUGUST 10 but hopefully I'll deliver @ 37 or 38 weeks. My DR told me she won,t let me go over 40 weeks and if I get an attack during labor they can put stuff in my IV.When is your due date?Let me go and look for my Lortabs.Pain is getting worse and I own my retail store and I'm just snapping at customers.I posted the same on an other site, the question was like are you also mean to other people and i guess between 32 weeks of pregnancy and gallstones some days I'm really evil!!!!!!!!!!

Shelly-I hope that your pain is getting better. What did your ob tell you about having a gall stone attack during labor? That would be awful! Maybe they would just give you demerol on top of the epidural or something, then you'd be really loopy. I will hope that doesn't happen to you! I think the labor pain is going to be enough to deal with. Hey, and I think it is okay if you get mean sometimes, it is hard not to when you are uncomfortable and in pain. I have been so nasty to my husband the last little while and I am not even as far along as you. My opinion is that it is impossible to be sweet and caring when you feel like you are dying, so go ahead and be mean and let people around you live with it! I just hope my husband still thinks I love him after the way I have been acting this week. :)
So I was reading the kidney stones posts and I saw that post by Bria. I was so mad at her judgemental att_tude and her pretty much implying that all of us are selfish for taking our pain killers. I hope she replies to me too, she deserved a tongue lashing.
I hope you start feeling better. Have your lortabs helped at all? My incision has started to itch like crazy today-as well as hurt, and its awful because I can't do anything about it! It hurts to have any pressure put on it. I know its not as bad as your pain but I have to gripe a little.
So when will you be 37 weeks along? I am too out of it right now to calculate! Hopefully the attacks stop after this one and you can semi enjoy the rest of this pregnancy. I read a post that was something along the lines of some lady saying that she hated it when people say they love pregnancy! I totally agreed with her. Of course I love feeling my sweet girl move around inside of me and the anticipation of her coming into our family, but I am not enjoying the other stuff. :) Oh ya, I am due September 24 so quite a bit longer for me!

Hey, I do not know what I am having yet but whatever gods send us will be great. I am not due till November 12. The number one reason I am having my surgery now is so I wont have any complications during the labor. I heard of a mother who had gallstones attacks that she ignored and by the time her doctors realized what was going on she was to far along to do anything. Well her gallbladder ended up bursting during her labor and caused a lot of damage to her body. I asked my doctor if that could happen and she said that it could. Tami believe me if you have a gallbladder attack during labor you will ignore it I guarantee that you will be focused on your contractions and what is going on with your baby. If you think that you are mean now wait until labor, my husband still has nightmares about my labor.

MY surgeon and Ob/gyn are keeping a close eye on my gallbladder and so far there has been no reason to think it's blocking anything or anything like that. It's just the attacks that are bothersome and he had told me as the baby is getting bigger and kicking in my side my attacks could come in more frequent.I've been dealing with it a little better with some pills. But if it gets really bad he can always do surgery.Besides being on this blend diet and eating all that healthy c___p i.ve only gained 18 pounds. And its all in the chest and tummy area,my ob is happy with that weight and she says baby is growing according to schedule.Nothing to worry about.Anyways I know 2 trimester is the best time to do surgery but the way I'm now it's still very accesible. As long as its not blocking anything I'm going to hang in there.Tami, I had gone too to that site with the women that hate the ones that say I loved being pregnant. It's true, now i have a friend that told me the same and she is pregnant now and very miserable so every time she complains to me I say i thought you just loooooooooved being pregnant!!!!!!!!!!! No compasion!!HE he.
Oh, if you go to third trimester there is a girl that posted a question if anybody had gallbladder problems.Sounds like stones to me so I told her to come to this page.I do feel quite a bit better today, I guess you can tell. How are you feeling. Ps i've been having fun on two other sites: Something with men couldn't handle being pregnant(NO WAY!!!!!!!!) and just feel like being mean to everyone. Customer time, i'll be back later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey ladies, how are you doing today? Anna-it is probably best you have your surgery now if you are worried about labor. Besides you are in the safest point to have it and there is low risk to the baby which is good. I was going to wait even though I was worried about that, until one got lodged and my liver malfunctioned. I was a brilliant shade of yellow for a while there-I am sure my husband thought it was very attractive. :) Are you planning on finding out what you are having? Let us know when you are having your surgery and keep us updated! Oh, I am sure I will be mean when I am in labor, judging from how I am now with the pain and how I acted during my contractions after the surgery! I just hope my sweetie doesn't take it personal! I told him not to. Shelly-I am glad that you are feeling better today. I can tell from your post! I am feeling better today as well, now that I am up and moving. I had a pretty bad night pain wise, but the days just seem to go better. I've only gained three pounds so far-way less then average for 26 weeks. My doctor is telling me I have to start gaining since my baby is measuring small. I asked him how he was expecting me to gain anything before when I was on a bland low-fat diet, and puking my guts out for days straight! He didn't think that was funny. Oh well, guess I am not much of a comedian these days. Hey I've been to that site about men not being able to handle being pregnant-isn't that great? There is no way! I think they'd lay down and die during the first trimester morning sickness before they even made it to delivery day! Well, I will talk to you later. Hope you ladies have a great day!

Shelly-I forgot to mention that I think that Bria is too chicken to respond to my post on kidney stones! Darn, I was hoping she'd reply.

Hi Tami, how are you doing today? It's been a week since you had surgery right? Are you being able to eat normal again?Or haven't you gotten your appet_te back? Don't forget to eat a sopapilla for me!!!!!!My husband decided yesterday to be nice to me and went to a new store in town with all kinds of foreign foods and bought me a box of churros. He remembered I had mentioned them one time,he had no idea what they were he thought they were like cookies. After giving him the look from hell I told him that #1 It was the MIX for churros and #2 you have to DEEPFRY them!!!!!!!!! I told him that would defenetly do the trick to put my behind in the ER!!!!!! He felt so bad, he said will make them after your gallbladder is removed, I know he ment well but now I'm CRAVING freakin' churros!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrr.
My weekend went pretty good,we got a lot accomplished in the baby room.Have you started working on it yet?? I guess I started "nesting" because now I have this "urge" of getting everything ready, the house clean and I'm mad at my pets for shedding.I have to vacuum and mop every day because I have 6 indoor cats and 2 indoor dogs (AND 2 outdoor dogs) Do you have any pets? I'm gonna get some lunch, talk to you later!!!!!!!!!!!! Anna, how are you doing?

Shelly, How are you doing today? I am glad that your weekend went well. We haven't started working on our nursery yet, but I can't wait until I feel better to start. I have decided to do a Noah's Ark/Animals theme for it. I have the bedding picked out-it is the Malawi bedding set from Baby's R Us. It is so cute! I figure that we will be able to use the same decorations for our next baby whether we have a boy or another girl. Besides I am an animal freak-my dream vacation when I was little was to go on an African Safari. :) What are you decorating your nursery like? It's great fun isn't it?
Well, I haven't quite gotten my appet_te back yet so unfortunately I haven't eaten any of the yummy foods I so craved when I couldn't have them. I wish I wasn't so nauseaus-i think I am still battling a bit of morning sickness along with surgery stuff-ick, so I could eat something really good. Oh well, soon I hope! I am feeling great though considering I had surgery on Monday. In fact I haven't had to take a pain killer since yesterday morning, so that's good news! I am recovering quite fast from what my doctor says so hopefully it will continue. I get to go get my st_tching out tomorrow so that is exciting as well! :)
That's too bad that your husband decided to be sweet, but came back with something unedible! I guess those churros will taste sweeter when you can finally have them though.
We don't have any pets, but I want a puppy so bad. We can't have them at the condo we are renting. Unfortunately we can't start looking into buying a place becuase my husband is still in school, then plans to go to law school following his undergraduate degree. Law school will most likely be in another state, so we get to rent. At least I love our condo and its big enough to hold our little family for the next little while! It would be nice if I could paint our nursery though. :( I envy you being able to have a lot of animals though! I have always loved being surrounded by pets, and can't wait to get a few of my own besides the goldfish that I had before I moved here! :) I can understand getting mad at them for shedding though. Nesting will do that to you. I am getting frustrated becuase I don't feel well enough to get up and clean and get everything ready for my baby girl-and I am only 26 weeks! You are much closer to bringing your baby home than I am. Well, I hope you are having a good day! Talk to you later.
