Hello Gals, Shelly, I'm sorry to hear that you are still not feeling much better. I have a question with as many attacks as you are having can you feel the gallstones move? Before I was pregnant, I got a stomach virus which made me throw up for two days, the day after I started feeling better, I could see the gallstones moving and fell them, felt like a baby when you are eight months pregnant. My husband said I was crazy but when he got home he felt them too. I swear I must have taken four pregnancy tests that night. Tami, I have a question. Is your cut getting bigger since you are stretching a little more, is it still pink? I was just wondering what to expect with them. Although the last cut finally closed. I used to joke around with everyone about how the baby was going to poke her little hand out and wave to everyone. I b___stfeed with my first child for about six weeks. I had a hard time getting used to her feeding right off of my b___st, but pumping worked out just great. Plus you lose your weight quicker if you b___st feed. I plan to pump with this baby also but I will stop when I head back to work, because there is no way I will be able to pump at the Police Department, not with all the cameras everywhere!

Hello ladies! I hope that you are doing well today. Shelly-has the pain gotten any better? Did you talk to your ob? What does he say? I know how it is to be pregnant on that all liquid diet-they did that to me twice and made me stay on it for three days! It must be even worse for you becuase you are farther along, and probably get hungry more than I did. It was awful. Jello definitely isn't the greatest-and I agree with you on the soup. Who wants to eat soup when its a million degrees outside? Yuck! I am glad that Jesse is moving around a lot though, since you have to take so many pills. It gives good rea__surance! Were you able to get any sleep at all last night? It sounds like you may have one of those pesky stones stuck good. Hopefully it moves or you pa__s it. Well, I am planning on pumping as well so my husband can feed our little girl. I agree with you that it would help with bonding. I have heard that a lot of new fathers feel left out, becuase they don't get to spend a whole of of time interacting with thier newborn. I want to give my husband ample oppurtunity though. I am planning on getting the Medela pump as well-I have also heard good things about it, and that is what my sister uses. As for the furniture, we haven't gotten anything yet so we would be in trouble if she decided to come too soon. We are planning on getting some though as soon as we move. My in-laws are buying us the baby crib (its thier first grandchild and I have never seen anyone more excited), and we have the glider for the nursery-a lot of good that would do unless I wanted to hold her all night right? We have an old dresser that was my husbands when he was little that we have painted and fixed up, also we have my father in laws old toy chest that was made for him by his dad when he was little. We still need to sand and paint it, but it probably has lead paint so we are going to have to get masks and stuff. Other than that, we really have no essentials at all. Hopefully I get some good stuff at my baby shower. Well, let us know what your doctor says. I am anxious to know that everything is alright. Anna-my incision is still pretty pink-in fact it is getting redder as my stomach grows. It has gotten a bit wider, but I have been putting special scar stuff on it since it has healed in hopes that it doesnt' stretch too much. My husband's aunt had to have her appendix out when she was pregnant, and she said it stretched throughout her pregnancy-I am hoping that doesn't happen, but what can you do? I am glad that your cuts have finally healed though! That must be a relief. Oh, I got a kick out of picturing you trying to pump in the police station while trying to hide from all the cameras around! LOL-I can understand why you are going to stop once you go back to work. Well, I am goign to look at cribs and baby stuff-my favorite past time lately. Hope you ladies and your sweet little babies are doing well. Keep me updated!

Shelly - July 16

Hi guys, compared to yesterday i'm doing a lot better.Still not totally over with but at least better. This one is lasting already 46 hours but at least i got a little bit of sleep.Anyways i went to my doctor this morning and gave her detailed information about this attack and since i was still hurting she was able to tell how bad it was. After talking about it and me expressing my concern about going in to labor and getting one of these attacks she decided to see if she could get a hold of my surgeon. She did that in the time i was changing to get the group B strep test. She came back, did the test (at least that was a quick test) and told me she got lucky and talked to my surgeon. Both agreed that the best thing would be to induce me at 38 weeks. She wants to run it through the board and get the final approval but her and the surgeon are on the same page on this one.Now according to my first u/s i am 35.5 weeks now, according to the third u/s i'm 36 weeks,so she wants to be on the safe side and induce me in 2.5 weeks, that way i'll be for sure 38 weeks.Next week friday is my next appointment and i'll find out for sure what we are going to do and probably the date.So i will know in advance when Jesse will be born. It's pretty exciting, scary but exciting.I'm going to have to do more research on inducing labor, and probably post that question everywhere here on this forum.I mentioned what you had Tami, with the Lortabs not doing nothing for you anymore and that you got Percocet,so she wrote me a prescription for those as well and they have been doing good for me.I may be able to sleep tonight, who knows? Oh,she also told me that Jesse is head down, and showed me the 2 thing that move the most and have been stretching the most are his knees!!! I thought it was either his head or his b___t!!!!!!!!LOL She also said that she wasn't to surprised on me hurting so bad, since he is head down, hif feet are moving continiously against my rib and yep! my gallbladder. To answer yor question Anna;i have not felt any of the stones,if i have i haven't realized it.I'm happy to hear that the pumping worked out well for you,i've read that you had to wait a long time and let the baby b___stfeed only before you could star pumping.I was thinking about doing both almost at the beginning.By the way i went earlier on the general pregnancy site on BBK's story and he posted that a nurse told them a trick to get the lactation jupmstarted and she told them to put some of the milk on the nipple to stimulate the baby to suck harder and it worked.Anna, i can agree with you about stopping the b___stfeeding by the time you go back to work, with all those cameras......and i'm sure most of your co-workers are guys...I'm happy to hear that your starting to heal.It has been pretty tough on you huh?I guess your little one is getting excited about having a sister.I know i always wanted to have a sister.Probably wrong question to ask while your pregnant, but is this your last one or are you going to try (down the road) to have one more, maybe a boy? Tami,i'm not sure if you are going to be reading this today (saturday) since you are getting the new Harry Potter book.We will probably not hear from you until you have finished it LOL.Hey...thats another idea for the nursery,do it in Harry Potter........Well,its almost midnight,i'm going to see if i can get some sleep. At this moment I'm pretty much painfree and my chest is less swollen which makes it easier to breath.Did you guys have that too during an attack getting your chest swollen? My bra was killing me.Well, goodnight ladies and babies..

Tami - July 16

Shelly-I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. I am also glad that the percosets are working better than the lortabs for you-glad I could help! I had the same thing when I was having an attack, where I felt like I couldn't breathe because the pressure on my chest was so bad. I would almost hyperventilate between crying becuase of the pain and trying to breathe. It was awful. Hopefully you can hold out for the next couple of weeks. That must be exciting that you are actually going to know when Jesse is coming! I am glad that your ob listens to your fears and is making it so you can be less stressed in the next couple of weeks. Isn't this forum great though? you can post all your questions and people will answer you! It seems like every time I have a question I either find a poster with the same question or I post and it is answered almost immediately! The only thing I have heard about labor induction is that pitocin makes the contractions even stronger-as does breaking your water. I can also ask my sister how it was for her becuase she was induced-when she was 2 and 1/2 weeks late! Well, I hope that you are feeling better and that you have a wonderful weekend! You'll have to keep us updated on what your doctor and surgeon are saying! Also I was wondering if they took some blood to do some lab tests to check on your liver and stuff? If it continues to get worse, I would definitely request that! Oh, isn't your baby shower tomorrow? Let us know how that goes. You must be excited! As for Harry Potter-it still hasn't come! I was guaranteed the arrival today from Amazon.com and I am getting anxious! :) Its hard not to go online and find out all the juicy details becuase I am sure they are all out there! Well, hopefully it comes soon! YOu ladies have a wonderful weekend and I will talk to you later!

Anna - July 16

Hello ladies, I am doing good today and am glad to hear that Shelly is feeling better. The problem I had b___stfeeding was not that I couldn't get her to attach it was that I never got accustomed to the pain and discomfort on my nipples while she ate. I tried a lot of things that I read from all my b___stfeeding book and I eventually gave up and decided to pump. I pumped right away basically the other thing is that the first couple of day you really don't produce milk you produce a clear liquid that the baby can still drink until your milk comes in but after that the milk came. It is uncomfortable because you have to pump reguarly because you b___st become to full and hurt. I recommend you buy a couple of ice packs. I also leaked regularly and had to wear b___st pads that you can buy from Wal-mart. It is hard being a first time mom and then having to b___stfeed. My mom didn't b___stfeed so she wasn't much help and all my friends when they heard I was going to try tried to talk me out of it. I knew that it was the best thing for my baby so I could pa__s my immune system to her and help her develop faster. She is a healthy girl that is way bigger than her age group. Everyone thinks she is six instead of three and she has hair to her little booty. She rarely gets ill and that was my main advantage of b___st feeding her. I hope that your labor goes well Shelly. Before you know it it will be over. I was induced because my water broke and I was having no contractions. The pain was the worst I ever felt but I didnt' scream I only cried into my pillow. It is all over before you know it and because of my prior experience I will have and epidural only if they have to induce again.

Tami - July 17

Hey ladies hope you are all doing well. I am taking a break from my Harry Potter book-it finally came! It is engrossing and very hard to put down, which means I had to force myself to do stuff today instead of reading. Nothing like a lazy Saturday I guess. Shelly-any more attacks? Hopefully not! Anna-so you aren't planning on having an epidural unless they induce you this time? did you have one last time? I did contemplate not having one, but I am leaning towards one at least for the delivery of my first child. I have heard that it is way worse when they induce you though, becuase the pitocin makes it stronger! So, your planning on b___stfeeding this time as well? Are you just going to pump right from the start or try feeding her at your b___st at first? Hopefully it isn't as painful this time for you as last time right? Well, enough of this break, I have to find out what happens! I will talk to you ladies later. have a great night and weekend!

Hi guys, well i had an awesome babyshower.Almost everybody that i invited came and we just had a blast!!!!!!!! The games where fun and we honored my friend Tracy by playing 2 of her games. One of them was the biggest hit,its gross but a lot of fun.I got some diapers and melted in each one half of a candybar;3musketeers,smores.hersheys,twix,mars,snickers etc beyond recognition.I had written numbers on the diapers and everybody had to write down what candybar belonged to what number diaper;so a lot of diaper sniffing...that was just too funny because that melted chocolate looked real and gross.I had 2 winners on that one.The ones that won got as a prize a giftbasket that Tracy had made.Yeah,Tracy had startded organizing this babyshower waaaay back in january so it was kind of like having her there but it did not "ruin" the atmosphere. The food looked really good (of course i couldn't have any, snif) but i did eat a big piece of cake that my friend made.I just had to,she put a lot of time and love on that.Of course i was prepared and "doped" myself up in advance. But i did feel good during the whole day.Just later in the evening it startded back up again but i controled it on time.I do think my gallstones are moving and reliefing me quite a bit.At least its not as bad as it was.I also got a ton of gifts.Just all kinds of stuff. Now i have everything that is Blue Jean Teddy, bunch of clothes, some newborn but also quite a bit for 3-6 months which is great since they outgrow the other ones so fast, lots of diapers, mainly the pampers swaddlers, but also some luvs and huggies, thats great b/c now i can try and see which ones will fit Jesse the best.I also got the babyswing i wanted, lots of burpclohts, nursing pads, sanitary pads for me (you can tell she was a recent mom) nipple cream, baby medicines, grooming set, foto albums, wipes, mittens, several hooded babytowels, fleece blankets etc.Just too much to remember.Oh..i also got pampering stuff for me from tha body shop and one of my friends had to get me (and hubby) naughty stuff. That was hilarious.Anyways,me and jesse got spoiled rotten.I now have everything i need for the baby with exception of the diaper genie and a few more fitted sheets.I'll probably go to wal-mart this week and then i will be 100% ready.Pretty good feeling to be almost done.So Tami, almost done with your book?Just forget about the household for a day and enjoy.Anna,i cant remember.but were you induced with your first one?Or do you know more about it? I'm really going to have to do some research about this,in a way i'm happy they are going to do it and have it over with (i'm also dying to see my little man) but on the other hand i'm scared its going to hurt so much more. Will they give you an epidural like at the beginning or will i be hours in pain before the give it to me?Well,i will write some more tomorrow,i think i'm going to try to sleep early,i got some sleep to catch up with. Are you guys feeling ok?Well ladies, till tomorrow...

Tami - July 18

Shelly-It sounds like you had a wonderful baby shower! i am glad you got so much stuff that you wanted! That must be fun to go through and look at. It must feel good to almost be ready-I need to start doing that! I am getting pretty impatient to be moved so I can decorate Kailey's room. We did that diaper game at my cousin's baby shower a couple years ago. It is gross, but fun huh? So when do you go back to the doctor to find out the particulars of them inducing you? I think they say that they can't give you the epidural until you are dilated to a four, but that may be different in your hospital. I know that is what it is where I live. Hopefully you will be able to get it sooner! I bet now that you know it is so close you are getting so anxious to greet your little boy! I would be so excited, even despite the anxieties of labor. How are you feeling today? I bet those stones are just moving frequently-probably because Jesse is kicking at your gall bladder huh? Hopefully you can be pain free or at least close to it until it is time to have it out! Well, I finished my book-yesterday. I must admit I read it way fast and felt so lazy, but I couldn't put it down! It is sad though-I had a good cry there at the end, and my husband thought I was crazy! I told him that it was pregnancy hormones AND a really sad book so I had a good excuse to be bawling. Now I am anxious for the last one to come out, and she hasnt' even started writing it yet! LOL, guess I will just have to be patient. Its good I finished it though becuase i have to PACK! I have quite a bit done, but it is just one of those things that you never feel ready for! Anna-how are you doing today? Hope all it going well. Oh, I wanted to tel lyou that I swear my scar is getting redder and wider as my stomach stretches-ew! I am not sure what I can do to stop that from happening. If you hear anything at all, let me know! Well, I had better get packing. I will talk to you ladies later! Have a great day.

Christy - July 18

I am 31 weeks pregnant and I just found out that I have gallstones myself. I am schedualed to see a surgen in a couple of weeks. My pain has gotten worse to the point that I can't hardly get out of bed. I don't know what will happen after seeing the doctor but they just told me to go on a certain diet and wait until I deliver.

Tami - July 18

Hi Christy. Sorry to hear about your gallstones! Believe me when I say that all of the women here understand what you are going through. Have they given you any painkillers to help cope with the pain? When I first found out, they also gave me some antibiotics to fight any infection that may have occured due to the gallstones. I am just wondering what they have done for you? It probably is a bit late to have surgery, but if you turn yellow or start throwing up uncontrollably or somethign, i would go to the emergency room. Gall stones can get dangerous if they get lodged int he ducts and won't move out. They had to take mine out when I was 25 weeks becuase of that! Let us know what the surgeon says. I am sorry that you have to go through with this. pregnancy is such a stressful time already and now you have this on top of it all. Is this your first child or do you have others? Good luck and let us know what happens. Also if you try warm baths or showers that seemed to help me sometimes.

Anna - July 19

Hello ladies, isn't it fun to know that the baby is near. I used to spend days just looking at all the little clothes and toys and wondering how the baby was going to be. My husband actually told me what concerns him the most last night, he is scared that he won't love the second one as much as the first and that he will have a favorite one. He said that she is simply his baby girl and that she is so beautiful and can't wait for this one to come so he can see who she looks like. Annacely , the first one, is beautiful because she took after her Momma, LOL, just kidding. But she does look exactly like me, my brother always laughs and says that she looks and acts just like I did when I was young. He argues with he just like he used to argue with me, she has the same habits that used to annoy him and I swear I never shower her. I was induced with her and the pain is horrible, I actually had two epidurals because my labor was so long. It just feels weird. My water had broken and when you look at your stomach you can see the baby moving more because she is no longer in this water sac and the contractions are so hard and being so new to it all it just becomes overwhelming. But it is over faster than you realize and once that baby is out everything is forgotten and it all seems worth it. I didn't have an epidural right away, I tried the meds through the IV but they didn't help much, but once the epidural was in everything seemed calmer and although the pain is not all gone, you still feel discomfort it is a lot easier to handle. I will try to have this baby with no medications if I go into labor naturally. People say it goes by faster. I was in labor for 30 hours and pushed for about one and a half hours to two. This is my last baby, I love kids but I have such a horrible time during pregnancy. My husband always tries to cheer me up by saying that its hard work making beautiful babies and if it were easier they wouldn't be so special. My scars haven't really started to stretch yet although I have a really weird one where my skin fell off because of the b___terflies.

Tami - July 19

Anna-that is cute about your husband saying that about his little girl. I'm sure he will love your next little girl just as much, but in a different way. Its funny what men worry about though huh? My husband told me he had a dream last night that we were in Southern Utah visiting my in-laws and I went in to labor and we had to steal a car to get to the hospital-I am not sure where our car was. He is freaking out about the labor part, even though I tell him everythign is going to be fine. You would think he shoudl be rea__suring me! :) He is cute though. Yesterday he asked me if I think about our little girl a lot. When I told him yes, he said that she is all he thinks about and it is hard to get things done becuase he loves her so much. Isn't that so cute? Well, if you can't tell we are certainly getting excited for our lt_tle girl to come! We want anywhere from 3-5 children, so we are goign to see how the next pregnancy goes. If I am this miserable again, that might change. I do want to adopt though, so that would help. Have you thought of any names for this little girl yet? Shelly-how are you feeling today? Is the pain receding or are you still tender where your gall bladder is? hope all is going well.

Shelly - July 21

Hi how are you guys doing today? I'm feeling on and off with the stones but it has been better than last week.(at least for now).I'm still drinking lots of clear liquids but i've been having also some sandwiches with ham and cheese, and of course some fruit.I just ate 2 little hershey kisses, just craving some chocolate, hopefully i wont pay for it overnight.I've been really stressed over this inducing thing especially after reading your story Anna.I dont want to sound like a cry baby, but at this point i just dont know what to do.Good thing about it is that it will be over sooner but on the other hand i already went through enough pain during this pregnancy and i have been reading more about it and about every body says that inducing is a lot more painfull .So i dont know what to do.Im sure i'll have a gallstone attack while i'll go into early labor but if i get induced ill be looking at heavier labor pain. Both really suck! You guys got any suggestions?Friday is my next ob appointment and i will talk to her about it but i also would like to have more input. Both of you know how painfull an attack is,Anna, you have been induced and you have had the gallbladder removed during pregnancy.Any thoughts? And don't forget that the gallstone pain has increased during my pregnancy.Last attack was over 60 hours.Pfffffff,i just don't know what to do.Let me skip to different subject. My hubby is also getting busier thinking about jesse. But he still hasn't read anything about going in to labor.I just don't think he will know what to do .He says he is stressed out b/c of me going into labor (one way or the other) and than the gallbladder removal etc.i think sometimes he forgets that I will be the one going through all of it.And i'm not even thinking about sore nipples from b___stfeeding etc.(sigh).I guess i will talk tomorrow again whwn i'm in a better mood.Sorry, you ladies have a great evening!!!!

Tami - July 21

Shelly-I am sorry to hear about your anxieties, although they are definitely understandable. I don't know what I would do in your position. I have heard a few stories where women had about the same pain when they were induced as they did in other deliveries. I guess it depends on the person. My sister did say it was pretty painful-she was induced but there is no other labor to compare to since my nephew was her first. I would talk to your doctor about your anxieties. I would also find out about the epidural and when they would give it to you. That might make a difference about what you decide. I know how painful those attacks are, so I can say I understand what you are going through. It is horrible to be in so much pain and not be able to stop it. I honestly don't know what I would do if I were in your situation. If the attacks keep getting increasingly worse though, I probably would opt for the induction based on the fact that you can have multiple attacks over and over again, but you can only go through labor one time this pregnancy right? I am sorry I am not much help! Tell your husband to read up on delivery stuff. My husband is so scared for when I go in labor-I keep telling him I should be the one that is freaking out like this! It is still a ways away even. I am making him read up on as much info as possible so he knows what is going on, and I am going to have him meet with my ob during one of my appointments a little later on and have the ob explain what will be expected of him and what he will be allowed to do in terms of cutting the cord, giving Kailey her first bath, etc. Every doctor/hospital is different, so it is good to talk about it. If your husband doesn't come to appoinments drag him to at least one so you can have him talk to your ob about his anxieties! You don't need him to be panicky if you are in pain and miserable. Well, sorry to ramble on and on. I hope you are feeling a little bit better. Sorry I am not more help. Let us know what your doctor says.

Anna - July 21

Hello ladies, I hope everything is going ok. Shelly, I can understand your anxieties about going into labor its a scary feeling not knowing what to expect I went through it all with my first child. This is one of the things that used to keep me up at night, I used to tell my husband all the time, what are we going to do with a baby. I don't know how to take care of a baby and you don't know how to take care of a baby, for sure we are going to kill this baby. But everything turned out fine. As for the labor, I also don't have anything to compare it to but it is the worst pain I have felt and having your gallbladder attacks or surgery still offers no comparison. But it is like Tami says, you will only go through labor once during this pregnancy and it is all over before you know it. I took a lot of the pain because I was determined to deliver without meds. I now know that inducing labor is a lot more painful, but I didn't know that then. Once the meds were given to me, it all calmed down. As for your husband, I wouldn't worry about it. My husband and I went to natural childbirthing cla__ses and he still didn't know what to do, but they adapt well. Believe me you won't want him to do or say much but stand by your side. I was so mean to my husband that he says he's dramatized and needs counseling. LOL. But he stepped into his role rather well. He pratically delivered the baby. All the women in the hospital decided to deliver at the same time and the doctors were all busy with twins and so one. He learned how to read the contraction monitor and would tell me when to hold it and when to push. The doctor just came in when the head was showing and helped the baby the final inches and gave me the episotomy. He even jokes and says that he can deliver this baby in our home, I of course don't think so. I wouldn't worry about his role in the labor, I would let him worry about that you have enough to worry and think about right now. He will step up when it is time. The only advice I give you is that it is painful but you are walking into this situation knowing this. I walked into it thinking it was a walk in the park, my mother had short labors and no meds and I figured it was going to be the same for me. I thought I had prepared by attending cla__ses and reading books but it was all different. But you go into this labor knowing that its going to be painful and knowing that you might have to take meds and that is an advantage. You will be that much stronger and more mentally prepared. It is all over very fast and it all disappears once you hold your baby in your arms. It is a moment I still remember seeing this little person that had caused so much trouble all those months and seeing your husband cry and you cry and just a wonderful event. I just hope that our second baby's delivery is just as memorable.
