IUD Malfuction

To Dacia and Shaunny, If you guys are experiencing painful s_x, then the IUD is not where it should be, and you guys need to have the Doc check the position of it. Furthermore, while mild acne, and cramping are side effects of the Mirena, weight gain is definitely not- -The hormones released by Mirena stay in the vicinity of the s_xual organs, not through the bloodstream. If anything, I have dropped all of the water weight gain I had being on the pill for 10 yrs.

To Debra.......... I have posted eariler that i am havingmy IUD the Mirena out in a few weeks

Debra - June 23

Shaunny, Did your Doc measure your cervix before insertion? Mine did to make sure that there was ample space for it to fit , because Mirena is slightly longer that the Paraguard.

Debra- as far as i know she did measure it I had my daughter back in November of 04 and she saw me at my 6 week check up and that is when I decided I wanted the IUD placed. but now that iam losing weight and that I think my uteru is shrinking.

To Dee and Niki, thanks for answering. My period wasn't as long as usual. I'm very tired and my b___bs feel bigger. I've had the copper T for about eight years now and I wasn't sure if they just eventually stop working. I have an 8 year old now child now. So when I started having these symptoms, I started to wonder. I get a period every month with the copper T but I didn't know if you could still get your period and be pregnant. Thanks again.

Okay, I can feel the strings or one of them anyway. But I think I felt the IUD!!!! Does that mean it shifted?

Hannah - June 24

For Kim, I have had the copper iud in for about 4 years now, I had a period 9 days ago.I did not bleed as much as usual. Now today, and the reason I am here is because my b___bs are extremely tender and I have lower backache, signs of when I have been pregnant in the past.I am tempterd to have a test because I feel pregnant, but too bloody scared to. After all, I DID have a period!!! I am 41 and dont want another one:(

can you gain weight with a IUD

Debra - June 24

If you think that you can actually feel the IUD, then it has dropped down, and isn't high enough in your uterus. Let me put it this way, I struggled the first couple of tries to check my strings(which feel like fishing line) because of the shape of my cervix. So now the best way I found is to squat while in the shower. My boyfriend laughs when I tell him that I have to go play Gynecologist in the shower! Another option is to have you hubby or beau check them for you- although mine would bug out if I asked him!!!

Hey guys for those of you who have s_x and it hurts, you should get it checked out. I got my iud removed because i couldn't stand the pain. It turned out I had BV. Its a bacterial infection that can be caused by the iud or any other birth control. It causes the cervix to be inflammed. Just to let you all know.

I think that the IUD is scary, I had mine put in in April, and I have an 18 month old and a 3 month old, and I too am scheduled for a blood test at the doctors......

I am curious to know if the IUD is really a good option for women who have had children due to the shape of the uterus after carrying a child. I don't know of anyone who is childless who has become pregnant while using an IUD as a contraceptive. After all- I don't have kids, but because I am in a monogamous relationship for 6 years my doc said I was an "ideal candidate"- and he told me that was the primary reason for Dr.'s to suggest it to married women. When the IUD first became popular there were alot of young college aged permiscuous women having IUD's inserted, and they were getting BV's and PID because of it.

I have a question I have had my Merina since October 2004 my sons are 2 yrs and 11 mnths. I was supposed to start the 26th I know it aint no biggie expecially with IUD.. But 2 nights ago after having s_x with my hubby I started to bleed really lightly so we thought maybe having s_x has helped my period come along but no it stopped and last night was the same thing.. My b___bs are swollen and I am lazy lol.. I have took a pregnancy test and it was negative which it could be to early to tell. I new exactly when I was pregnate with my second but took 6 pregnancy test before it read positive.. I dont know maybe im just really paranoid but it raised my attention when i read an article and it says to contact the doctor if you spot or whatever..

I found out yesterday that I am possibly 8-9 weeks pregnant. I got a copper T iud just over a year ago. The Dr. couldnt find the strings to the iud so I have to have an ultrasound tom. morning and a Dr. appointment in the afternoon.
