I have had the Mirena in since December and had spotting for a month and then regualr periods. Well I have not had any bleeding since April 12th. I have not worried about protection since I had this in me I thought I was safe. Well I took two tests one last thurs and again yesterday both negative. Does the hormone in the Mirena have any bearing on the results of the test?? I have had 4 c-sections I have major scar tissue and I am scared of having another c-section. I have a 6 month old baby at home and I work so many hours as it is. I got Mirena becuase i figured I wouldn't have to worry about it and I couldn't afford to get pills every month or take time off work to go down to PP and get free pills. This is so confusing. I don't remember what the strings felt like I didn't kow I was suppossed to check them every month, but I just checked I feel it a little bit but ...I am nervously rambling here so I am going to stop typing...lol

Zarabeth~ I feel the same way. I have a 6 year old and a 4 month old and really don't want anymore children. I now feel scared with the IUD. I am considering getting a tubal. I see the Dr. next month for my annual, so I am going to talk to her about it then.

Megan - I hope things went well at the dr. today..I went in for another ultrasound on Wed and we saw the heartbeat and everything is "normal" in regards to the fetus - I guess at this point (7 weeks) it is a fetus rather than and embryo. The interesting thing is that my dr. and the sonogram tech cannot 100% cofirm that they do indeed see the IUD..supposedly because it is plastic (the Mirena) it is really hard to see on their equipment. If I had the metal IUD it would light up really well so my dr. is having a lot of trouble. I am now awaiting an appointment with a specialist who handles high risk pregnancies and they are going to do another sonogram with their equipment to see if they can confirm the IUD is still there..I can't imagine that it has been expelled but at this point stranger things have happened to me. It is a really difficult time because the pregnancy looks normal but the potential risk due to the "possible" IUD could prompt us to abort if the risks are very high- I have two wonderful children now that I need to think of. The specialist should be able to give us more of the potential risks so we are in the waiting stage now. Another interesting point we found out was that the hospital near where we live will not perform a DNC on me because I have a viable pregnancy and they are a Catholic hospital - regardless of the fact that this would be considered a high risk pregnancy..very interesting.. I have the copper IUD. I am not late, but I have a ten year old son and my b___bs are huge! Which was the sign with him. Also, I've been puking for a week now. I went to the doctor yesterday and they would not give me a blood test. Said that a urine test is just as accurate as a blood test. I don't believe that. Probably as much as I believe that this IUD is 99%! I am freaking out. My last period was on the 10th of May and I only had it for a couple of days and it was really light. That is not normal for me ever since I got the IUD I've had extremely heavy periods and really bad cramps that lasted for about 7 days. This last period I didn't have the cramps. Now I have to go in on tuesday to get a blood test. I can't believe how many people are getting pregnant!

Hey Becky...what did the blood test results come out to be?

Well Ladies, I had to go to the ER last night w/ really bad pains on my left side. Dr really didn't give me a choice to keep the IUD. 6 days after having this expensive no good piece of c___p for birth control taken out. 99 % my foot! More like 99% failure w/ our results. Thanks Maureen for the thought of contacting the FDA. Will be doing this pronto! I have no idea what went wrong, all I know is I sure do feel better. I go monday to see if it has caused any internal damage. Pray for me! We still want more children. 2 just isn't enough, I have so much love to give!!

Denise..My blood results turned out negative. I have to go in on Friday the 3rd for an ultrasound so they can see whats going on. So, we'll see what they find out.I'll keep you posted.

Becky...Holy freakin c___p! Now you're scarin me. You say you've got the Mirena? I'm wondering if sense it's got hormones in it, if that is why you get the symtoms. That's just too weird. Yes...please keep me posted.

Hey I have the IUD for 10 years and I think I may be pregnant because I am more than 7 days late I don't have any insurance. I also am 23 tears oid with three kids and trying to go to school don't need any more childern right now. I Took A hpt ( First Response) but the results are where neg. I have had regular periods for the past 2 years what is going on.

Hi Lori, and for everyone else who reads this. I went to the doctor and Im not pregnant according to them. But I knew I had a problem with this thing. When I told the doctor that i wanted it out. I never thought I would have to go through the hell I had to go through. My IUD strings that I couldnt feel were so out of wack. One of them was coiled aroud the T part of the IUD and the other string was sticking staight up past the IUD in my Uterus. The doctor had such a hard time that it took him over 20 minutes to get it out of me. and they had to give me novicain and dialate my cervix. I am not exagerating but I would have rather given birth again than go throgh that. I was bawling it hurt so bad the doctor had to stop and take a couple short breaks. I had the doctor give me the depo-provera shot. I strongly do not give advice for woman to get this thing.

Denise, yes, I have the Merina IUD. Since I found out my test was negative, I havent been thinking about being pregnant for nearly a week but, last night as I was getting ready to take a shower, I noticed how big b___sts look and the dark blue veins of my previous pregnancy are coming out again? Also, I can ooze milk from my nipples! I wonder what the heck is going on. I cant wait to see the ultrasound I have planned for Friday

I have the paraguard and I ALWAYS start on the 25th of the month. April 25th I started and ended in a week, then had it off and on for 10 days. Now its May 31st and I am SOOOOOOOOO scared. I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old. Both were high risk, and I cannot get pregnant again for risk of dying, that's why I got the IUD.(im only 20, and am not old enough according to Georgia's standards) WHAT DO I DO?

By the way I took a test today and it was negative.....I can't go to the doctor right now, I don't have insurance and cannot afford to pay cash. Honestly, I don't want to be pregnant......

i have the 5yr mirena, i always start around the 14th, but the last 2 times i stared it was very very light and i only went for 3 days, and i am feeling pregnant...very irritable, touchy about things i usually dont care about, and sharp pains around my ovaries, im going to take a PT friday, i'll keep yall posted.
