I have had the Minera IUD for almost 5 years now and I have always had my period every month until noe. I should have started on the 14 or 15 and it is now the 24 I toohpt it was negative, I have a blood test tomorrow. If I am not preg. I don't understand how my periods would be regular for 5 years then just stop. I too am concerned with the number of women getting preg. with an IUD I was convinced it was foolproof.

Hello I have a paragraud now for 4.5 years. I have all the symtoms of being pregnant. Rapid weight gain, hunger, f__gtuie, emotional roller coster. I took a home test today and it was negitive. I called the nurse and she said to wait another week and take another test. I feel that if I am pregnant The sooner I have medical attention the better especally if I can carry the baby. Any advise Thank you

More like a question! I have had Mirena placed 3 days ago. I am haveing slight pains in random areas of my uterus and ovaries. Especially when I bend. Did anyone have these pains?

Sabrina - May 24

Netashia- From my experience the pain went away about 5 minutes after having it placed. Maybe you should ask your nurse or doctor. I was told the pain was not supposed to last.

Hi! I have had the copper/ paraguard IUD in for 8 months now. I think I might be pregnant; However, My concern is that even if I take a home pregnancy test it will not show up. WHen I got pregnant with my son, 5 yrs ago, I took a home preg. test and it said I was pregnant. Then I went to 3 seperate clinic, all of them told me I was not pregnant. I knew I was and sure enough a month later they finally confirmed the pregnancy. I am worried b/c I have heard that with an IUD u can have an eptopic pregnancy ... I am nervous... anybody have any suggestions

hi, my IUD was remove on may 9, and i have no spotting. the dr. said that my iud was not in the uterus were it was supposed to be. due to my weight loss the iud move and was lying on my cervix. they did a v____al ultrasound and it look like the fetus was not in the follopian tubes, it wsa in the uterus. i thank god that the iud was not in placed and the dr. was able to removed it with no complicatons. so far everything seems like its going pretty well but i still get worried. i will keep you posted on how everything turns out.

Hey Everyone!! I have had the Merina IUD since The begining of March 2005. At first I was doulbled over in pain. It was also very painful durring s_x. My doctor says your uterus just has to get used to it. I don't have as much pain now but I do notice a lot of spotting. It's not red blood its brown. I have to constantly wear a panty liner. I don't have a period which is great though, nothing heavy. Should I be worried about getting pregnant. Please anyone that has the Merina tell me your story.

Trisha ~ I had the IUD put in in March also. I have had 1 periods since (very heavy) and also break through bleeding. Now, since my last period, I have not had anything. I am getting worried that I am pregnant. I have a 4 month old and am not ready to have another! When I had my IUD (Mirena) put in I almost pa__sed out because it was so painful. Not really the incerstion, but the bringing down of the uterus was very painful. I had cramping for about 1 month and then it went away. The brochure they give you says that is normal, but if you don't get better you may want to talk to your Dr. I am considering going in for a tubal, but I hear there can be problems with that too! What the heck do we all do for BC anymore? My other concern is that I am still b___stfeeding and I know some people don't have their periods when they b___stfeed, but I have had mine all along and now it's just gone! Has anybody else had this problem?

I have the Mirena IUD as well. I have had to go to the hospital because it had been knocked out of place. I went due to sever abdomnel cramps that would not go away. With reading all of this information I am really scared of getting pregnant with the IUD. I am not worried about getting pregnant but the chances of losing the baby with the IUD in place scares me. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi Lori thanks for all your info, i will take your advice and have them do a blood test or sonagram before i get it taken out. i know the doctor says that he cannot see or feel my strings to my IUD. When I went to the doctor last week i weighed 120 lbs, I went to the doctor yesterday because i have a cold and when they weighed me i had gained 7 lbs in only 1 week. I feel so tired and stressed out i yell at everyone in my family i just dont have patients. my b___sts are still tender and i still think I could be pregnant. Hopefully i will get some answers tomarow. I hope everything works out with your pregnancy i will keep praying for you take care.

Netashia - May 26

I have read sever people talk about being able to feel the strings. I had my Mirena placed May 20th. I can't feel them, is it because my cervix is still swolen from the dr dialating it? Can you feel them anytime? Have sooo many questions just don't want to burden the dr.

Mary - May 26

Netashia~ I got mine in March and I also could not feel the strings. I called the Dr. and they got me right in. They had gone up behind my cervix, so they just gently pulled them back down. If you can't feel them, it's important to get right in! I checked again a couple of weeks ago and I could feel them a little bit. It feels like fishing wire. I hope this helps!!

I had my blood test yesterday, got the results today, it was negative my doctor said since I have the mirena IUD and it has progestrone in it , the same as with the Depo shot that it could cause my periods to stop. My periods did stop when I was on Depo but they stopped immediately, Aug. will be 5 years since I have had the IUD so it doen't make since to me that they would just stop after all this time. They made me an app. for June 16 to get my IUD checked, maybe it is out of place. But for the women with IUDs and no periods take this into consideration.

I have had the Mirena in since December and had spotting for a month and then regualr periods. Well I have not had any bleeding since April 12th. I have not worried about protection since I had this in me I thought I was safe. Well I took two tests one last thurs and again yesterday both negative. Does the hormone in the Mirena have any bearing on the results of the test?? I have had 4 c-sections I have major scar tissue and I am scared of having another c-section. I have a 6 month old baby at home and I work so many hours as it is. I got Mirena becuase i figured I wouldn't have to worry about it and I couldn't afford to get pills every month or take time off work to go down to PP and get free pills. This is so confusing. I don't remember what the strings felt like I didn't kow I was suppossed to check them every month, but I just checked I feel it a little bit but ...I am nervously rambling here so I am going to stop typing...lol
