I have had the Copper IUD for 4 1/2 years (it was placed after the birth of my twins) I haven't had any problems until recently. I have had several bacterial infections. I've been on antibiotics 4 times in 3 months. I felt pregnant, but it ended up being these cervical infections. Maybe pairing up the IUD w/ a condom is the best choice if you REALLY don't want a baby. It works for me :) Keep in mind ladies, mind over matter, if you think you are pregnant sometimes the body will act like it's pregnant.

I'm with you Ana. I spoke to my doctor Thursday and they did an ultrasound, Iud is in place, but the strings are MIA. He did a urine PT(go figure) and it was neg. They have decided to give me hormonal replacement therapy until my period starts.That was Thursday and still no period. He gave me the option of surgically taking the IUD out and doing a tubal Cauderization or leaving it in and "see where it takes us" So, basically, back to square one.

I have a Merina IUD in place. I had it placed Jan 24th of this year. I have a 18 month old son and a almost 7 month old daughter. I had the IUD placed on the advice of my OB after having my daughter 11months and 11 days after having my son. I was on the patch with my daughter and didnt know I was pregnant with her till i did a Preop phyiscal for eyesurgery in April of last year. Before I had the IUD placed I bleed for 2 weeks straight after having it placed I have not had any spotting or any peroids for about4.5 months now. i am concerned that iI am pegnant again.i have also experienced disconmfort with having s_x with my husband te last week and have not been feeling all that greateither. i have recently stoped b___stfeeding my daughter due to surgery last month. I was wondering should i go ahead and get a blood test done to be safe? I have thyroid issues as well I was thinking that I could beed to get my levels for that checkedthank you for all your help and advice I am a little scared here. thanks again

6 days on provera and no period. Just a spot or 2, he gave me 7 days worth and said it should start around pill 4.....I swear I am pregnant.

WOW! This is a little unnerving. I have had a copper IUD for three years now with no problems.This last month I have gained 5 pound and 5 inches . All the inches in by bust and tummy. I have not skipped a period but had a unusual one last month. I am exhausted all the time, moody and my b___st are slightly tender. Last night I had some pretty bad cramps almost reminded me of early labor pains. My string is still there but my lower abdomen is kind of tender.I am pretty nervous. I think I will get a hpt and see what it says but with all of you having negative test just to find out that you are pregnant later... I don't know what to do. No Dr. or insurance right now. Any ideas?

Stephanie, I would see if you can go to a free clinic and see if they wil do ablood test for you to make sure t hat you arent pregnant. I am going in to my dr tommorrow afternoon to have her look at me and have some blood work done as well

I have had the Mirena IUD since Oct. 2004 and I am two weeks late. Does the mirena IUD string feel like plastic? or is it more like sting? If anybody knows that would be great thanks.

I have had the Copper IUD for 3 1/2 years with no problems except heavy periods and spotting between. But, I have been EXHAUSTED for the last 8 days, tender b___sts, crying because my cell phone fell into a shoe and I couldn't find it for 5 minutes (and other riduculous things) and suddenly think everyone is the most annoying person on earth. However I've taken 3 pregnancy tests and they have all come back negative...very frustrating. I am freaking out because if I'm not pregant then what the heck am I? And if I am, don't I need to get this thing out??

I've had negative PT's as well, and I SWEAR if I am not pregnant, I've been abducted by aliens! I went today and got a blood test. My finders are crossed that I'm not.

I was due to start 5/24... I have all the symtoms but the urine test came back negative !! I'll know in 48 hours.

i just had my iud removed almost 3 weeks ago due to an ectopic pregnancy. well i took 2 hpt's today that came back positive. could i still have the HCG left in me from the ectopic or could i possibly really be pregnant again already? please help, i'm freaking out

I have insurabce via the state(Thank God) i have peed like 6 to8 times today the last hour I have peed 3 times within 5 mins of each time (I know TMI) I feel pregnant and i don't know how to tell hubby if I am again.I feel like I am carrying twins YIKES! anyways good luck Staphanie!

Well I took a hpt tonight and it was negative. I don't know if it is all in my head or what. Hopefully I will figure it all out soon. Good luck to the rest of you.
