Just relaized I made a typo, meant to say I bought and took ANOTHER test. The one I took the other day was old and left over from my almost 2 year old. Bought a new one and different brand.

Dragonfly, don't worry, it's just my wry sense of humour - pretty run of the mill over here!! There is a lovely lady doctor at our surgery (married to my doctor, incidentally) and I have consulted her in the past. However, she is a real fan of the Mirena! After 3 days back of the pill, I feel much, much better and I will be sticking with this from now on. To all ladies who are pregnant, I wish you the very best. To everyone who is worried, I hope you find some answers soon.

Ana. I have heard that some will miscarry and some don't. I just think that everything is in God's hands. Some people post that the Drs can't get their IUD out. If the IUd was taken out within in the 1st 12 weeks, then your chances for a miscarriage a small. I will pray that everything will work out in your favor. Meanwhile, I have to wait til pay day this Friday to get a test for me. I have had my IUD for 2 years. I have been thinking for the past couple of months about having it taken out. I think that after I take the pregnancy test that I will have my IUD taken out.

I have been on the IUD-Mirena for about 6 months and have not had a period since June. 2 weeks ago I had mild cramping and had a light-bloody discharge, that happened in a consequative 5 days off and on. and this past week, i have been feeling some nausea and mild headaches everyday in the midafternoon until i went to bed (im fine in the mornings.) i took a hpt, and it came out negative. my question is: THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE CURRENTLY PREGNANT, DOES THIS SCENARIO SOUND FAMILIAR??? I will be 26 in Dec, and I have 2 kids. My hpt tests for my first child didnt come out positive until i was 3 months, and i was on the pill. Just reading through this page is really making me think twice about my IUD. I just wanted to get some feedback, and if i do feel like this all weekend, i am going to my dr. thanks.

Alisa---I had an aversion to some foods when I thought I was pregnant back in Dec. '04, but I wasn't throwing up. I think some people's symptoms are more severe than others. I never had morning sickness that bad even when I was for sure pregnant. If I were you, I'd see my doc or healthcare provider & get some tests done. If you're newly pregnant, the hormones may not be strong enough yet to get a positive result on a HPT. If you don't see a doc soon, try the HPT in another week or so. This gives your body a chance to gain enough hormone to reveal the HPT results more conclusively. Good luck!

Hi to you all.I too had the Mirena fitted 2yrs ago and never ever had any problems until when my last period was due last week.I did have spotting but that is it and since then my b___st have become really tender i feel sick, hungry the cla__sic symtoms of pregnancy.I did go to the docters after seeing this site cause admittingly im scared now but she told me there was no way the Mirena would fault!!!I am not happy about this there is something wrong. She checked my coil and told me its still there but me and my partner cant feel the strings.I had a pregnancy test but it was negative so got to wait till nxt week to find out. What can be done about this as the reason we all used it is cause its as close to being sterilised. And my question is Am i or Am i not?Good luck to you all and im glad i found this site.

I have had my Mireba IUD for just over 3 yrs. I love it. I have NO periods at all. But the past 2 weeks I have been feeling weird pregnancy like symptoms. I am starving all the time but after I eat I feel uncomfotably full, very tired and a bit nautious. I was thinking it was nothing till I saw this board. This is a LOT of women getting pregnant with an IUD. I am happily married w/ 2 kids. I guess I am off to get a test!

Andrea---As you can see here on this board, sometimes the symptoms you're feeling are something else or you could've tested false/positive on your HPT. So, if I were you & the symptoms persist, I'd make an appointment with my doc just to be sure! A blood test will be more conclusive than an HPT, although they are very accurate, too. HPT's rely on enough pregnancy hormone to show up in your urine, which is what gives you a negative or positive reading. If you are newly pregnant & have a low amount of that pregnancy hormone, it may give you a negative result when, in fact, you are pregnant. You could try retaking the test in a week or so when the hormone may have time to grow stronger in your body. Another alternative is to see your doc who could give you a blood test & also exam your cervix/uterus to see if there are any visible signs of pregnancy. Good luck!

Lori, I am 5 weeks pregnant. I too had a mirena IUD in place. I actually think I may have gotten pregnant just before it was put in place. I have two Beautiful children and a usually wonderful husband. He doesn't want this baby. My OB/GYN was able to get the IUD out. I want this baby now. All I do is cry when I'm alone. I feek like I was sold on a bogus idea that this was safe. Good luck! I'll be thinking of you -Katie

Wow! I am so glad I came across this post! I am 8 months pregnant with my second child and I was seriously thinking of using the IUD (it is what my doctor suggested) but there is no way I will be using it now! It seemed like a pretty good idea, because I was going to do the 10 yr. one and I would not have to ever worry about taking birth control or getting pregnant for 10 yrs. (I thought) I guess I was wrong! There is no way I will be using this now, I can not imagine getting pregnant again when you think you have 'taken care' of that problem! Good luck to all you girls!
