I have some of the same problems as you ladies. My Mirena IUD was shoved up too far and I can not find the strings. Nor can my doctor. Well that was over 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have been feeling sick and almost like im pregnant. I took a hpt and it came up negative, but I havent had my period since December 12 2005. I have no idea whats going on. I am scheduled for a D&C on March 8th to remove it. I am just afraid that I am preggo. What you all think?

Aryn, I have a paraguard since October 2005. Since you said you have not had a period yet maybe you should go get a blood test done. I've had a period every month and believe me after reading all these posts i'm always being extra careful now on my NOT SAFE days.

I have had the copper iud since February 2005. In Oct 2005 I stoped having my period and I thought I was pregnant. I went through many many test with my doctor over a 2 month period and the could not find nothinf wrong. The iud is in place and i am not pregnant by my period just stopped. I felt like I was pregnant and I was having all the symptoms. Until this day I still have not had a period. The doctor says that you are supposed to have your period every month with the copper iud. But some people do not menstruate and it depends on the person. I already have 2 children 11 and 6 and reading all this about the iud really scares me!

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I was thinking about using the IUD after trying so many different birth controls. I suffer from migraines and they all made it worse. I thought the IUD was the answer, but now I am having serious doubts. I have 2 children, 6 & 1. My husband and I would like more, but not yet. We hate condoms, not sure what to do.

There is no birth control out there that is 100% against pregnancy.

duh...we know that

Yes, I have a paraguard. And after feeling queezy for two weeks I took a home pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant. Went straight in to see my OB and am the first patient he has ever seen to get pregnant with a IUD in place. Same thing, he couldn't get it out with the strings being wrapped around the cervix. I will decide over the weekend whether to have a DNC and remove the IUD and pregnacy or try to have my uterus probbed and the IUD removed. This is so confusing and hard. We have two children already. My heart goes out to everyone in this group and I wish that there was a lot more awareness of how many women do get pregnant with an IUD.

Hi, I've been lurking for a couple of days and have read EVERY post --many many brought tears to my eyes. I wish you all the best. I came to the site because I have a mirena "installed" in Sept '04 (no problems so far -knock on wood), but have been thinking about wanting to get pregnant in the next year (no kids, never been pg). I have big problems with other BC (allergies to latex and spermicide, bad migraines on the pill), so mirena seemed a good option, but now I think I want it out (made an appointment, but with HMO, can't get in til May 22 so I'm afraid what could happen between now and then). This site has really opened my eyes to big problems with this device. A million thanks to you for sharing your stories. I can't imagine being as strong as you all are. best of luck to you all.

Hi, my name is lashea. My husband and I have four kids (3,5,8, and 10). I have three kids by my first husband and one by my second husband. I have the Paraguard IUD and I'm not sure if I am pregnant. I know the feeling of being pregnant and I feel pregnant. I took a pregnancy test, however, it was neg. I know it is too early. My period came on a week and half ago, but I know the feeling of being pregnant. I have headaches, b___terfly feeling, throwing up, smell, and morning sickness. I also feel bloated. I feel like something is sticking me in my side. I am going to call my doctor. I am very confused at the moment. we want another child, however, I am graduating this spring and I wanted to become closer to my kids. I am a teacher and I just started my career. If God bless me with this child I will be happy. God can not put more on me than I can bear. If he feel this is the time, we will except our child. I love kids and I love having fun with my kids. I am only 26 yrs old and I am still young, therefore I will still be young went they are older. My mom has adopted eight kids and two of her own (me and my brother), so it is in my blood to have kids and love them. They are God's gift... I think the most part is I am not sure and I need to wait at least another week. I checked online if my period came a week and a half ago, I would be 2 weeks and 4 days. That is very weird. Why am I having symptom so early? Can I get so advice? I think I stay up all night reading everyone posting and some are successful and some are sad. I pray that everyone trust and believe in God.He will make the best decision for you and your family. Blessing to everyone..........

Hi Anna iv just read your post & i wanted to say my story to you. When i found out i was pregnant i had bad bleeds etc everyone thought i miscarried i had a scan and i was 10wks gone & the baby was right uderneath the coil, the doctor tried to find my strings but as my coil has been put up so high the baby has tuck the strings up i was told i wouldnt get pa__sed 15-20wks of pregnancy (all because they dont know nothing about Mirena coil pregnancy im the 1st patient they'v seen ever) iv proofed all the doctors midwifes consaltants wrong im now 24+3 pregnant with my little baby Girl (i have 2boys already) even thou i do get bad bleeds around every few mths my baby is so healthy she actully a wk ahead of herself, what im saying to you if the doctors cant find your string i would URGE you to keep the coil in, if you have the coil removed & it to high up you have a great chance of miscarriage, when your baby placenta form most placantas will cover the coil so it will be delivered in labour, if not it just a slight chance of premuture labour, but plz i wouldnt let them muck around with you because if your string is tucked up then your baby has a better survial then having them remove the coil, if your string it down and they can see it then i would try to remove it, i would of done that but my strings are not vissble. Hope iv helped abit take care

I had no idea this was so common, my dr told me IUD was the best way to go, i've read many of your stories and my heart goes out to all of you. I found out today i'm pregnant, I all ready have three kids (5, 2 1/2, and 4 months) i believe i have the copper coil? I'm devistated rate now, my first to kids were a result from a marrage, the latest was a failed vesectomy if you can believe that her father and i were engaged and he found out i was preg and had his s____n tested and there was sperm. I havent heard from him since i was two and a half months preg, (aparently he really didn't want any more kids) then along came this "wonderful" guy and we hooked up and the baby came he treated her like his own, (her real father has never even called and asked about her, ) he asked me to marry him in Nov, we were going to get married this summer, until i caught him cheating two weeks ago! i moved back in w my mom. i had my IUD put in 4 months ago i haven't been feeling well (throwing up) over a week late for my period. finaly i took a test-positive, so i took another one--positive agian. this will be baby number four and i'm single. i don't know what to do, funny how i can beat the odds of an IUD and a vasectomy but do you think i could hit the lotto? sorry, thanks for listening.

Im very glad that i found this site like most of you are. I have had the mirena IUD for almost a year.(1yr sunday) Since on the IUD i got a cyst on my ovarie. It was 6cm big which i was told was big but not to worry and i didnt. i just had a lot of pain. well now i have a different type of pain. i feel pregnant so friday i went in to have a pregnancy test done. It came back neg. Maybe to early or maybe not pregnant. My husband liked the idea of the IUD b/c the doctor said we had a very low chance of getting pregnant. I dont know if im pregnant or not and i guess i wont til i go next week. It would be nice to have another baby but i dont want there to be something wrong. If you do get the IUD how long do you bleed? It has been nice to only bleed a day or two and it not really be alot. I hate waiting til next week to find out whats going on and if im pregnant. i can still feel the strings but its very high up there. i have had the string up the wrong way once before but the dr got them back down. Im sorry for going on and on but im scared b/c i dont know what is going on. and this waiting c___p sucks. thanks for reading

Leslie, I am in the boat with you. I have had my Mirena IUD for nearly 2 years. It has been so wonderful.....till now. I usually bleed lightly for 2 days, this month nothing...I have pregnancy symptoms...maybe some signs. I took two test a week apart, both negative. I think some other women in here have experienced negative home tests and found out they were pregnant. I have not scheduled an appointment. I have noticed the same side effects the mirena can have are also symptoms and signs of pregnancy. I am way toatally confused also. Like you, this is not the "ideal" time for a baby. I hope you get what you want...good news.

confusedangel - February 28

Hey, everyone I went to the doctor and took a blood test and it was neg. However, unable to find my IUD. I have an appointment w my doctor Wed. I still have pregga symptom. If I was pregg, I would be 3 weeks. Would this be to early for blood level? Have anyone took a blood test and neg, then in couple of weeks it is postive. I know the feeling of being pregg. I am soooo confused.
