Hey girls and men lol.. I had my 2 week checkup the otherday . The doctor told me they got everything out with the d&c and they didnt find a piece of the iud...I hope to god its still not in there or it was a false reading on the ultrasound. She told me the iud was only 96% effective.. Now why would they say its 99 when in reality its not.. I am going to set up an app. with my gyn. Who removed it and see what the results where on the iud because they sent it off.. I am just a disapointed as you all. I hope all your pregnancies go good and you dont have to go through what I did. In the meantime I am going to try to get to the bottom of this..

I am very confused!! I don't know what to think or do. Well for sure Im going to call my ob tomorrow to see if she can schedule me. I've had the IUD copper since Feb/ 05 and for the past 2 months I've been feeling pregnant but kept brushing it off. Today I had a hpt and it was POSITIVE!!! I have no clue how far I am because I stopped having periods about 4 months ago. I am very worried and sad after reading all this. I hope my Ob can help me. I will update y'all tomorrow or when I do get in to see the doctor.

Holly, I'm glad everything looks okay for you . Amy, I understand your shock. I unfortunatly can't get my b___t to the midwife again, because of a fractured ankle! Do I have bad luck or what? I did notice some spotting again, so when I get back from my son's visit with his dad, I'm going to get this thing removed , providing I'm not pregnant. If I am, I'm not sure what I will do.....To the other wendy that posted, this is an "IUD PREGNANCY" message board, what kind of posts did you expect to find here? Please don't preach to us about how wonderful the IUD is and about taking responsability for our s_xuality. We tried that by getting the IUD in the first place, now we are here. I honestly do respect others opinions, but don't be preachy about effectiveness ratings and the like when you're on a board with women who had the device fail them. Allen, please keep us updated on your wife's progress. We are trying to find a way all of us could file a complaint to Berlex lab...any suggestions? Also, this isn't the only thread about this. There are more posts under the IUD MALFUNCTION thread. Ladies and gents lets keep this board going, because when we do something we can use these posts as part of testimony or something. I'm not sure exactly where to begin. Anyone know a lawyer friend or family member who could steer us in the right directions???

I totally agree with you.. This board is for people who are going through or have been through this situation. So no one can truly judge until they have been through something like this.. Expecially losing a baby.

Hi everyone. I want to say that this message board has been so helpfull to me. I ended up in the emergency room over the weekend due to cramping and bleeding. They did a transv____al ultrasound and descovered that the IUD is in place in my cervix as it should be. The ER Doc said I must have one strong willed Baby that really wants to come into this world.! He said he has never heard of IUD failure! WOW! I am still cramping and bleeding though. I have had 3 prior pegnancies and have never had any bleeding or cramping so I am scared that I am possible having a miscarrage. Also I put a phone call in to Berlex labs. this morning and they put me through to the adverse side effects department! What a joke! She took down all my info and asked to get my medical records and I said no. Because I 1st want to talk to my OB doc and a lawyer. Which I also put a phone call in to a product liability lawyer told him the scoop and he refered me to a medical malpractice lawyer. He should be returning my phone call shortly. I also gave the product liability lawyer this website and they will be looking over the postings. Oh also Berlex labs asked me if I contacted the FDA and I said no, should I and her responce was no, I wouldn't?!? HUH! Well I am hoping I will get into my Ob today. I am so confused as to what my future holds and that of my unborn Baby! I have no idea of the side effects, complications, anything. I am scared, and confused. This message board is really helping me... knowing I am not alone! Thanks everyone....~Amy~

Hi Lori. I also have the Merina IUD and was wondering if yours was still in place where it was supposed to be and you still got pregnant or did it move out of place? I have had mine for about 13 months and last month I am not really even sure if I had a period because it was just a spot. This month my b___sts are very sore and have been for almost 2 weeks, I am crampy a little and feel very tired. I have 2 children already and know what pregnancy symptoms feel like, but aren't sure if what I am feeling is just side effects or what. But still no period and I don't really have a LMP to go by to know if one is late, still on the way or not coming at all. Very confusing. Just wanting to know at what point did you decide to test for pregnancy and did you have symptoms like mine or what? Thanks!!

Well, I called my OB/GYN and they asked me if I could feel the string. I said I thought I could, but that it felt shorter than usual. They told me to either take a test or wait til this weekend to take it if I don't start by then. I think i remember feeling like I was going to start around July 20th or so, but I had so much going on at that time that I can't recall actually starting a full period, just a spot or two. This is crazyness!! I had the copper T for about 3 years and had BAD heavy periods so I decided to swicth to this crazy thing. At least with the other one I knew when I wa going to start. Anyways, going by the ovulation calendars and using aLPM of July 20, 2005, it says I should be starting right now. We'll see. I may not be able to stand waiting til this weekend to find out. I will be very upset if I am pregnant, but what do you do? If it's meant to be then it will, right? Both of my other kids were surprises too, why not a third. I just wanted to be able to finish college first. Anyways, I guess I will keep you all posted to what I find out. If anybody has any other advice please feel free. Thanks abunch!! Eva :o)

Eva always be alert I was late 2 days and took a pg test it was negative but there not always correct and it so much better to find out early .. There is a better chance of not having a miscarriage.. I understand completely I have 2 boys noah is 2 and cainans 1 when I found out I was pregnant I was in shock .. and wondered how.. But when I miscarried I wondered why me I was ready to take on a third.

My oldest child, Brandon, will be 10 years old on the 23rd. My youngest, Kaitlyn, will be 7 in November. I had my son when I was just 17 and my daughter at 20. I am now approaching 28 and feel like I am not sure if I can start completely over. I am open to the concept of maybe having more children some day, but man, I am half way through with college. I don't want to stop again to have another one. But of course, I would love it just as I do my other 2, but d__n!! ya know? Do you think I should go to my doctor's for a Quant level or should I wait for a few days to take a test or what? By the way, I am so sorry to hear of your loss, even if it was a surprise to begin with. I did miscarry back in 2000 which was a pregnancy conceived while on the pill ( I was on several different ones because of problems so I didn't recognize the signs right away) and that scared me into getting the copper T IUD in the first place. And although I was so upset that I ws pregnant, by the time that I miscarried, I was set in the mind that I was having a baby and was actually a little excited. After the miscarraige, I had all kinds of guilt that because I was so upset at first, maybe I willed it away or somethng, but over time, my heart healed and I knew it just wasn't meant to be this time. Well, thank you for your advice, I better go get my kids from their first day back at school. I will keep you all updated . Thanks again ladies!! Eva
