Hell everyone. Im unsure if this post is for pregnant mothers or not. I am a 30 year old male and my wife is pregnant. We spent 5 hours in the ER after begging her to get checked out. She has had 2 m/c and one ectopic pregnancy. Her hCG levels wer 581 and she seems to be bleeding quite a bit. She is convinced that she is m/c again, but the doctors say the bleeding can be numerous other things. It seems that she is so bent on that she is m/c that she has a negative att_tude on the pregnancy. This is my first time going through this and Im concerned about her health and the health of the pregnancy. Does anyone have any advice as to what to do to comfort her through this experience. I want her to stay positive, but she seems to say she knows her body regardless of what the doctors are saying. Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi Mike,
I would say just support her and understand she knows her own body. It is hard for you when the doctors say one thing and your wife believes another. Don't forget, she has been through this before and knows what to expect, where as the doctors probably have not so it is easy for them to say that 'bleeding is normal, it doesn't necessarily mean m/c. I have has 6 m/c. The first 5 were to my ex-partner. When i got pregnant with my partner last year I truly believed that this one would be OK, I was now in a loving relationship and it was fate that this time it would work. It didn't and when I freaked out because I started bleeding and we then went to A and E, the doctors said the same: bleeding is quite normal - I knew what was going to happen, the way it always has, but my partner still had hope and thought I was being negative. Its hard not to be when it has happened before and you know and have felt the outcome. Please reply to let me know how you both are.

Hi Georgylou,
I appreciate you giving me advice. I'm sorry to hear about your m/c's. I'm extremely excited about my wife being pregnant and find it hard to concentrate on anything other than her health. She had an ectopic pregnancy prior and told me that she almost died. I certainly don't want any harm to her. We go to the doctor on the 8th to test her hGC levels again. So wish us luck everything works out.
Thanks again for the response.

Mike,
I posted on this board long ago. After three early miscarriage I finally became pregnant with a sticky little bean. I am due with our son in two weeks. I had early bleeding in this pregnancy, just the same as in the others and was a complete wreck for most of the pregnancy. In fact, I still worry constantly about my baby boy. Just be supportive if her no matter what. My husband often reminded me that for today I was still pregnant in the beginning when I was upset and it helped a bit. Good luck to you and your wife. I hope you are blessed with a happy, healthy 9 months.

So sorry for your misfortunes ladies. Unfortunately, I can imagine the pain you're going through but hope that life improves for you all. The best information I got from my psychologist was that it's okay to take time to cry and process it but don't dwell on it. Some days may seem very difficult to get through but as long as you've got ovaries and a uterus, you're in business. Here's to hoping the positive energy I'm sending you all reaches you.
My adventures so far:
I found out I was pregnant in July 2011 for the first time. Extremely happy since it was the first month we tried. Miscarried at 6wks. Got pregnant again in October but had an ectopic pregnancy in November (just shy of 7wks). There was internal bleeding(2 liters worth and extremely painful) and required emergency surgery. It's now February and I'm almost 6 weeks. I've been doing HCG tests for the past few weeks to monitor my levels for possible ectopic. First test at 4wks 1d was 15. Next was at 56, then 112. Still fairly low (in my mind) but at least increasing. I meet with my ob on Wednesday and have an ultrasound scheduled for Friday. I'm hoping that my positive thinking will carry over into this pregnancy. I haven't had any symptoms other than maybe more frequent urination and nipple sensitivity and would feel much better if I "boarded" the lame train to Puketown.

Hey Tara, Cate, and Beth.
First of all I want to say thank you for sharing you experiences. I know I can never tell the full meaning of all that you guy's go through, but as a man I can say we feel emotional pain as well. Some of you stories actually made ME cry and considering im the type of guy that dosent cry for ANYTHING it means a lot.
Our story. My wife and I have been trying to have a child since sept and it has been a long process. My wife has three major conditions lupus, mastesis, and the other I cannot pronounce, so when ever she gets pregnant we knew it would be HIGH RISK and a long process.
Well we found out she was pregnant on Jan 19th we wanted to be sure so we did another test on the 22nd. We were so excited! Two days latter my wife started spotting with mild cramps and as the days progress the bleeing got heavier and the cramps begin to get heavy. So I took her to the hospital on the 26th and they said there were no signs of miscarriage and her HCG level was at 35 so they told us to come back every two days and the number should double. Mind you at this time she should have been about 5wks preg, but the doctors said she was only 1wk. Well we came back in two days and the number went to 41 then the number went to 47 after another two days. So the doctors told us to wait until the 15th of feb to see what will happen, but they will more than likely have to terminate. Anyone have any encouraging words to help us? Today is the 14th of Feb and we just found out she is spoting again with mild cramps.
Is there any hope?

Hi abond27
Just to let you know, if you had an ectopic the doctor would have spotted it right away due to the fact of it would be dark around the sack, which means you are in the uterus, also if it was a blighted ovum/ectopic, you would not double in hcg every 48hrs. You are spotting due to implantation, and a high dose of hormones are freaking out your body right now. Do not get the d/c. If you start having menstral cramping and menstral like bleeding go to the ER right away. The sac is not suppose to be any one shape, they are a sac. I have no idea why the doctor told you those things, i am a surgical tech, and what they said does not make sense. Definitely get the second opinion, and ask for the resident, and then the staff doctor. You were more in likely talking to an intern. I had a kidney infection at 8months pregnant, and the doctor was so rude with me telling me how it was nomal to have discomfort etc. The nurse who couldn't watch anymore ran to the bathroom and tested my pee, it tested positive for blood. Do you know what would have happened if i wasnt persistant, the staff docs took over and said that i would have died if i had left. My point just because they have a degree doesnt mean they know what they are talking about they call it practice medicine for a reason. Always listen to your gut feeling like i did, it is more accurate than any degree. ;-) hope this helps in your decision of the next step.

Well i went to the we today because i started having mild lower abdominal pain. They ran my hcg and it was 189 yesterday it was 362 they did an ultrasound as well er doc sed he repeated the u/s because the last u/s they did't see ANYTHING anywhere indicating a pregnancy nd neither did todays. Idk what to make out of this. He sed to have my ob to run a couple more hcg levels to make sure they dropped. And discharged me by saying m/c or ectopic he didn't know. So i am Still in the same place. Just know my levels have decreased drastically in 24hrs

Hello everyone. I took a HPT and it was positive. I went to a clinic and it was also positive. They said that I was probably like 5 weels along, and gave me a due date of 11/17/2012, however yesterday I was not feeling good at all, i was having severe lower back pains but no bleeding and a very bad headache. I went to the ER and while in the waiting room I began spotting, then when i went in I was actually bleeding but not heavily. When they did my blood work my HCG last nite was 39 but my pregnancy test was still positive through bloodwork and urine. They told me to followup with my doctor. Can anyone help me with this please.... I would really appreciate it.
