This is a response to Ca__sie's post.Can you get preggo while using Mirena? Yes. I became pregnant after using it for a lil over a year.All the test I took at home did come back negative however, after & emotional rollercoaster & several Dr. visit's I got it confirmed.My best advice is to go to the Dr. have them do a blood test & a v____al ultrasound because nothing is 100% effective & for your own sanity. Okay...so I have the same problem as everyone else! Have had Mirena for 4 yrs, and no complaints...till now! I have always had my period (1st of EVERY month) no cramps and I thought Mirena was great. Although, in January, I got my period on the 20th, a week early! I thought to myself "okay, so its going to change dates!" Well then came February and nothing, then March, again nothing! I decided to buy a pack of tests- both negative! I bought another pack 2 wks later- both negative! I went to the local clinic- negative! 5 tests later and still no answers? Then April came... feel pregnant... so I made a Drs appointment. He is very concerened and so am I! (I am 28, married with 2 beautiful boys and not sure if we want another one.) I have an ultrasound on Tuesday... I will let you all know...

im confused like everyone else... i have had marena do a while about 7 months and have a period every month but i felt it move or like for one day it didnt feel like it was in the right place and then in march i had a period to where it was only bloody if i whiped and then in april nothing... i took a pregnacy test and it said neg but im still wondering if i am...

i got the mirena in august after my daughter was born in may and havent paid it much attention, a__suming that it would be great as it seems so perfect on paper. i've had irregular periods the whole time. so when i couldnt feel the threads, and realised i'd been having mild pregnancy symptoms (nausea, metallic taste but nothing else i'd experienced with first) i'd also been having cramping and strange discharge. am currently having a period no different from any other on mirena. i went to see a gp (not a specialist in iud's even though id asked for one)who looked, said mirena was fine, no way i could be pregnant, but she is sending me for an ultrasound on tuesday to check where the mirena is. my belly is moving and i can feel it kicking, so im pretty certain i am pregnant, but all hpt's have been negative. i am just wondering how many other people this has happened to where they have actually been pregnant? after reading all these i think they need to do more research as there is clearly a problem. i am really worried something will go wrong, i do not know how i would cope if it does.

i got my mirena put in 6 wks after i had my son in march of 09. for the first couple of months i had a somewhat regular period. and then it became spotting, and now i don't have one at all. now it's about a yr later. i haven't had none of those metallic symptoms that i was reading about, but i noticed that i am gaining some wait in the stomach area. and i keep feeling some fluttering in that area too. i have been having some spotting after intercourse, and i have no idea where that lil string is anymore. i'm sdared that i may be pregnant. i really hope not. didn't get on birth control to have another baby. i have 2 and my boys are enough at the moment, lol. i'm gonna get this checked on the 10th though. the previous stories i've read are scaring me a lil bit.

Well I'm in the same boat as all of you guy's and I've been going crazy trying to lose weight b/c my doc said it wasn't the Mirena. That's just not true! I have gained so much weight, uncontrollable craving, no s_x drive, acne and now no period. I have regular periods every month. I went to the doc b/c I couldn't feel my strings but she did an ultra sound and it was in there. I feel pregnant! I don't know if it's just side effects or if I am I took a test it came up neg but I'm telling y'all I feel prego's! I do not have ins. and I do need a blood test. Something is going on and I want this thing out! I got it a couple months after my second daughter was born on 8/1/08 so I will say Oct 08 I don't know but it sure feels good to know I'm not crazy!

Hey Girls! I promised you an update and here it is:) I was happy to find out that I am NOT pregnant...not one bit! My ultrasound was 2 days ago and the tech said that there was nothing out of the ordinary, and Mirena is right where she should be! Go figure! The suggestion made to me, was to maybe get a new Mirena put in...even though its only been 4yrs! I think I will look into it for sure. I cant handle the stress of worrying like that again. I think for some of us, the thought of being pregnant and then all the c___p we hear and read about sends our heads spinning, that we actually trick our own bodies into thinking that we really are? I dont know, thats just my opinion. If you are really scared, go to the doctor! The only real way to find out is an ultrasound. I hope my story will help to relieve some of your stress, while you wait for your appointments. I hope your results will be as great as mine. Good Luck:)

I have had the mirena for a little over a year now and with it my periods have been lite, only lasting a day sometimes only a couple hours. This past time it lasted for two weeks and was a heavy flow the entire time. During and a little before this time I have had sore b___sts, been nauseous, and VERY frequently had to get up and use the restroom. I have also had pressure on my bladder like I did during my 1st pregnancy. I am planning on calling the Dr. and setting up an appointment as soon as possible but i am BEYOND nervous! I need advice!

Jeremysmommie I read some where that these things will still allow you to get pregnant in a sense..Like the sperm meets the egg but the mirena is strong it's like a miscarriage before it become a "real pregnancy" So you still ovulate and it can reach the egg but "most" time if it does, it will make you have a really heavy flow and pregnancy signs. Again this is something I read from another girl who experienced it. For me I feel even more pregnant and I'm just waiting a while to take another test. I have flu like symptoms like a cold and I never get sick! I had no period last month and I feel weird in my stomach. My b___st have grown and I just feel crazy. I'm overly tired but I have to wait to see if I get a positive test before I can make a change at my job to get insurance. Good luck girl, take a test.. if you have a Doc go and get a blood test! It will make your life easier! :)

i have been using mirena for about a year and a half. for a long time i was having a 7 day very light period every other month. but now i havent have one since feb. well three weeks ago i started having really bad cramps, i didnt worry, i just figured it was menstral(i was due at that point. well it never came. and now im really tired all the time and my b___sts are sore., i will be taking a test this weekend. but what does everyone think?

yea girl take the test and I suggest doing a blood test or ultra sound! they say a home test wont give you a false neg but I've seen it happen! So get a thorough test and clear your mind. Good luck!

ugh this site confused me even more

i have been on the mirena for a year and a half and have had all the same symptoms as all of you and i take a pregnancy test every month just to be sure this last month i did not have a period. i took the test and it was negetive but i called my drs nurse and they say it is all normal. so just because your period changes form heavy to lite or days that you start dont ever be scared of taking a test because if you ever get pregnant with the mirena than you need it removed ASAP.

I have had the Mirena IUD since May of 2007. I have been a single mom pretty much the entire time, and I really haven't slept around to know whether or not the thing was even effective until now...I've been seeing someone for a few months. I have not had the slightest sign of a period since August of 2007, but when the new guy and I started having s_x, there was a little bleeding, strange color....well, i guess three weeks ago we started having unprotected s_x because I have this birth control that is supposed to last FIVE years....Now, my b___bs hurt and I swear they are bigger, my back hurts, my stomach feels firm, and my pants are getting tight...after i just lost weight...I am soo paranoid....I just finished my bachelor's degree and landed a great job, and things are finally looking up. Another baby is the last thing I want/need right now. What should I do...I can't believe I am just now reading this stuff...
