Pregnancy After A Myomectomy

Hi all - I just had to respond to the BULGE question. I had a Myo last year and I had a HUGE bulge, like a sausage, above the incision. It turns out this is common, it's the "camping fashcia" or rather muscle fat layer, overlapping at the incision point. The doc can't tell what will happen when you stand up as they sew you up lying down (of course). It's like an overlap of the fat inside of you. It's a bummer and fairly common. It won't go away so don't torture yourself - fix it instead. I cried for weeks over the miscarriage that necessitated a myo in the first place, and then my perceived "disfigurment." I went to a plastic surgeon within 8 weeks after the surgery and had "scar revision" surgery. It cost about $750 total and it was an outpatient procedure done in the plastic surgeon's office. Worth every penny, I am very happy to have it done. Word of advise if you have this done, this is a very standard very simple surgery. You do NOT need to go to a "premier" plastic surgeon for this type of procedure. Find a good plastic surgeon in town, then request an appointment with their newest a__sociate on staff. The cost will be half as the a__sociate is in the process of building his practice, and the new a__sociate will be more likely to spend twice as long st_tching you up as the guy with 20 years of experience (which is a good thing - you WANT 100 st_tches versus 20 to get the best result).

By the way, I am 17 weeks pregnant today, one year after the myo. All is well and boy it sure is nice to go in for appointments and not have the OB say "well the fibroid is in the way" or "well we'll have to wait and see if the fibroid causes a miscarriage." No cramps, no bleeding, nothing. Just a good looking jelly bean growing in there.

Hi Melissak CONGRATS ON YOUR PREGNANCY. Now for my sasuage of Fat..it won't go away!!! I can't wait to go see my doctor and find out what the heck is going on..why didn't they just remove this fat? God knows I wouldn't have missed it..so I can't work out and burn it off? This sucks! Summer is almost here! Just joking I'm glad that is all it is. I thought my uterus shrunk down lopsided. Melissa K thank you for your answer it really put my mind at ease..its just fat! Congrats again on your pregnancy..please keep us posted and let everyone know how you are.

Juliane-Stay strong! Think about your child! We have to go through whatever is necessary to bring them here... I understand... My anxiety was just like yours... We gotta be positive. I go into the Fert Clinic again, tomorrow for my Endo Biopsy. UUgghhh! (Last test) And my hubby has to deliver his sperm... Lol! Tomorrow, I will get a date in which I get to sit down with the Doctor to determine the path we will take and what is wrong if there is something wrong. Thanks also for the inspiration!!! MELISSA K-Congrats on your pregnancy!!! That is wonderful! I hope to be preg in the next few months!!! JOKER-How are you? MOON-Hello! Well, guys. I will write tomorrow to let you know about my biopsy....

Good luck Ms. Monet. I'll say a little prayer for you tomorrow. :-)

Hey RU93, JOKER, JULIANNE, JOKER, MS POSITIVE, SPARKETTE & MELISSA K. Went for the Endo Biopsy this morning at 9am and the Transv____al Sonogram. Endo Biopsy was intense for exactly 40 extremely long seconds of snipping my insides. After that, it felt like period cramps. Thank God, all my tests are done. I thought that they would schedule my discussion appt later this wk or next wk but guess what, it's April 26th... Ughh! Torture!!! Glad the pre-testing is finally over. I must say that a month went by really quickly. I suppose its because I had 1 or 2 appts every wk...

Ms. Monet. Glad to hear that your exams are done!!!!!! That is great, but today's test sounded quite painful. As I was reading your posting and description, I think that I started to feel those pains...like sympathy pains. hahaha!! But glad that you are ok and on your way! :-)

MsMonet - April 11

RU-Thanks. With the Biopsy... You actually feel the doctor snipping your insides. I am so visual.I kept picturing Edward Scissorhands snipping my insides. Lol!

ru93 - April 11

You're kidding??? You could feel him do that? WOW!! Hope he sedated you somewhat. hahaha!

MsMonet - April 11

I took 3 Motrin before leaving home... Is that equal to Sedation? Lol! It was the longest 40 seconds. I really think it was longer because the doctor was counting slow...My legs were trembling... Uggh!

ru93 - April 11

Nah....Sedation is 3 Motrins and a shot of tequila. hahaha!!! My dr gave me a narcotic (I can't remember the name), after my myo for the pain and i LOVED it. That is what your dr should have given you today. :-)

MsMonet - April 11

RU-What? You mean I've bambozled? (sp)

ru93 - April 11

Yes Ms. Monet! You have been bamboozled. hahaha! When i go home this evening I'll look at the bottle and tell you what the drug was called. It did the job though. :-)

Hi everyone..glad everyone is doing well. Ms Monet I cringed when I heard about your test. I'm glad you are done with all the testing and now can come up with a game plan :) I hope I don't have to go through that.. I can't even get through my regular paps..all is well with me. I'm just counting down the time till I can ttc. I'm trying to remain positive. Aunt flow is in town this week..she came on Sunday and it has been mild..no cramping and the flow has been medium. The doc will be putting me on birth control to help eliviate the flow..but as big as my fibroids were my periods were never heavy. WARNING TO EVERYONE, if your doctor is going to put you on birtch control I recommend getting one that is very very low in estrogen since the fibroids feed off estrogen. I'm thinking of getting Yasmin...I was thinking about getting the depo but after your last shot it take 6 months to a year to get out of your system and I don't have that kind of time..I'm also thinking about asking for another lupron shot but I don't think it will do me any good since he would probably only give me a 3 month shot..so I might as well just take the pill..the only plus side to the lupron (for women like us) is it basically shuts down the uterus no or very low amounts of estrogen being produces so the fibroids don't have a chance to grow..I'm going to talk it over with my doc and see what he says..I will post it after my appt. Take care everyone.

MsMonet: Kudos to you for the zeal and enthusiasm you are portraying. One could literally feel it, and it is inspiring. To endure these series of tests in a day, amidst "snippings of the inside" and come out laughing over it basically summarizes it all. Obviously, they never met one determined lady ! Lol. Whatever the "hot chase" is like for each individual here, it is surely for a reason ..... and our Maker is helping us write our unique stories to tell one day.

moon - April 11

Hi all! MelissaK: I've been following your story last year and was rooting for you all along. Congrats on your pregnancy! That's just so wonderful and gives us all a lot of hope for next year, right galls? ;-)MsMonet: Gongrats on putting the pre-testing behind you! One more thing that's over with... Isn't that just terrible to have to wait two weeks for the discussion appt? I wish you all the patience you need ;-) Joker: I'm astonished to read that Aunt Flow is already back! I haven't had my period yet, although it's been 10 weeks since my last lupron shot and 7 weeks since the myo. Okay, I'm basically in no hurry, but still... that's the next step to get back to "normal", isn't it? Take care and keep in touch.
