Hi All. Damajuana and Joker - thanks for putting my mind at ease about the surgery, and Sasha, I'm glad to know your surgery was a success overall, considering what you went through. My main worry was that myos were high risk, since I've never had any sort of major surgery. But you guys have all been through it, and you manage to be realistic and yet stay positive enough to be encouraging. You have no idea how valuable that is to those of us facing it for the first time. And Joker, thanks, I will focus on the positive too. Like I have a doctor who has been doing myos for years, and she seems to regard the surgery the way a fighter pilot might look at flying. She doesn't seem the least bit nervous (although she'll be at the other end of the knife - ouch). Well Monday is the day, so I'm beginning to gear up mentally. I wish you all a great and happy Thanksgiving holiday!

Lexie777, good luck on Monday. Like the others I will keep you in my prayers. Trust me...after it is all over with you will never regret it. One piece advice...when they want you to walk...walk. It may hurt, but it will make you feel so much better! Take care of yourself!

Hi Lexie!! All the best for your surgery! and the last comment about the post surgery. My first period after the surgery hurted, more or less the same than before, but guess what? In my next two periods I felt no pain at all. I didn´t take even one pill to relief pain and I used to take two blisters!. Its incredible! how I didn´t realized how much they were bothering until I got them removed. I also feel less tired when I have my periods, not sure why this happens. Well this was the last comment wish you a speedy recovery. I also have you in my prayers. Good luck!

Thanks, all. You're all so amazing. Your prayers and positive words make a huge difference, and I know I'll enter this surgery with much more confidence because of you. And I'll be so glad when it's over, I won't walk - I'll run. Okay, a girl can dream, can't she? But I'll be glad to report success news to you all soon. In the meantime, take care and I'll also keep each of you in my prayers.

Hi Lexie, I'm wishing you the best for your surgery..you will be fine..just think about how you will feel Monday after the surgery...don't focus on the surgery...focus on how your life will be after :) Damajuana..you are right about the periods after the surgery...you have no idea how much those things affected you until you live life after..my periods are so much lighter..I don't even know I'm getting my period until a trip to the bathroom...sorry if this is TMI..but no more clots..I know gross but people have to know these things....no more bloating..I mean serious bloating...and you are right about having more energy during your period..before I would feel so tired..I mean tired and rundown for no reason...but besides that my everyday life is so much better..my clothes fit better before..my clothes were tight..just about the mid-section...my shirts would rise up and my pants waist would be too snug..even though they fit every where else..now thats gone..no more shirts rising up because your uterus is enlarge and you don't know it..now my pants fit :) I feel lighter...literally..I don't have that heavy feeling in my abdomen...and "hanging out with my hubby" (if you know what I mean) is a lot better...girls I can go on forever with how better you will feel...Lexie I will be thinking of you..MSMonet how are you..Hopeful great to hear from you..Take care everyone and stay in touch :)

Name: jasp
Sorry I started a new thread I meant to post here
I can not tell you how happy I was to find this forum and how I wish I had found it earlier. I too had fibroids I found that out the same month I found out I was preg ended up with a mc at 41/2 wksin feb my gyn said it was ok to try and get preg again and not do anything about the fibroids got preg again and again I had a mc at 8 wks in may that was one of the most unhappy time in my life.We decided that I would have a myomectomy by now my fibroid was like about 16cm because of the preg and I had to wait 3months for my body to go back to normal. My periods were so heavy and painful the month after my 2nd mc. I had my mymectomy in august and everything went well thank God.Now I have to wait at least 6 months before we try again so feb we will start. I just wanted to know if any of you guys went thru the surgery and if anyone is pregnant and how long it took. i know everyone is different just need some hope. And for anyone having or thinking of having the surgery good luck and It gets better so dont worry yourself too much get as much rest as pos before and start moving as soon as you can after sur. It really helps. They made me get out of the bed and at least stand by the end of the of my surgery day. The scar to me is worth it cause I was in so much pain it was affecting my daily living. It helped to that my dr was supper nice and never showed any hesitation about any of the many ?s I had and believe me I had tones.Thats why I was saying I wish I found thi forum earlier it would have helped

Jasp---WELCOME to the forum!!!!! I've only been on here since a few months ago, but I can tell you that it's a group of women who all have the fibroids thing in common. Some of us have had the myo and are healing and waiting to ttc again. Some of us are already successfully pregnant post the myo and are awaiting the arrival of healthy babies. Some of us have healthy babies in our arms as we speak to love and adore after successfully going through all of the above. And some of us are contemplating surgery to get the process started. Many of us have had miscarriages as well. Jasp---believe me, you will find the support and even sometimes - answers to your questions all on here. I'm a member of another fibroid site but I can honestly say that this one that Joker started is by far the most comforting and inspiring one! It almost seems like a special sisterhood. :) So, ask away and get ready for your journey. :) I am sorry that you had to suffer two baby losses. I am glad that your myo was a success! And that's good news that you can start ttc in February! I will start in January, so you and I will hopefully be encouraging one another along while still receiving and giving support to all others. Again, welcome! Sasha here. :)

Lexie77, Good luck tomorrow. Everything will go well and you will feel much better after your surgery - both mentally and physically. Right now I'm 7 weeks post op, and I'm feeling good. JASP - thanks for posting, So sorry for your losses. I'm glad you posted because most of us on this board who m/c due to fibroids then go on to have them removed. But you attempted pregnancy again. I was so conflicted about whether or not to try again after my m/c at 15 weeks back in March. I had differing opinions from doctors, one said to get pregnant again, and others said to get the myomectomy first. There are always "what ifs." But reading your story a__sures me that we did the right thing. You were brave to attempt pregnancy again, and I'm so sorry that it didn't work out. But good luck TTC in February. I also have to wait 6 months, so our time will come in April.

Hi Jasp~ It's funny you should ask that. I am down to my very last seven pills - I believe they're placebo pills right? Then for the month of December - I will not take any more pills nor will I try to get pregnant. My doctor wants me to have one month free from the pill and for a cycle to come on while off the pill. Then in January, we'll start trying. She has also had me on a multivitamin since my myomectomy back in May of this year. I also take vitamin c for the healing process - her orders. I asked her about taking a prenatal pill and she said she'd prefer for me to take the multivitaminn and then once I'm pregnant - either take a prenatal over the counter or one she'll prescribe to me. I know each doctor is different. I am getting my folic acid in my multi-vitamin though so that's good. I was hoping to be a little bit more in shape before getting pregnant but at this point it may not happen. I put on 40 pounds with my pregnancy and the fibroids growing with the pregnancy. I have lost between 10-15 pounds of the weight but still would like to lose another 20. I am going to be realistic though and take it one day at a time with the weight thing. I also notice pain in the area that had my largest fibroid now and then and still take a pain med to help it. I sometimes wonder if the pain will persist once I'm pregnant again. The main thing though is to get pregnant. My age is also a factor - I'm 41 years old. Although, when we got pregnant before - it happened quickly - so I'm hoping for the best case scenario here again. I know I said a lot here. I'll stop now. :)

Healing~ When you miscarried at 15 weeks, did your doctor say it was due to your fibroids or something else? I m/c at 10 weeks and she couldn't say it was the fiborids - even thoough I had 46 and 6 were surrounding the sac - she said it was most likely chromosome abnormalities. I was wondering what your doctor said. Also, did you have an hsg done after your myo or will you? My doctor was prepared to do an hsg during my myo to check to see if my tubes were open, but they already were - so she didn't have to perform it. I am hoping that they are still open. I am not going to have an hsg. I will just try to get pregnant for six months and if nothing happens by next June, I'll go to see her for plan B. Sasha~

Joker~I was rereading your post to Pryncss where you said you may go to see your doctor in Dec/Jan - after trying for two months if you're not pregnant by then. Is that because of the possibility of scar tissue? What did your doctor say would be the next step for you if you're not pregnant by a certain date? And did your doctor even give you a date to keep in mind? I am hoping that I do not have any scar tissue - but who knows. I feel comfortable waiting the six months - let's face it - waiting six months post my miscarriage and then another six months post my myo has really taught me patience as well as how fast a timeline goes - so 6 months to me again just seems like part of the plan for me. But again, I was wondering what your plan was. Also, are you charting your ovulation at all? My doctor wants me to do nothing. Last time when we got pregnant I used an ovulation kit which worked! But this time around I am going to follow her orders so that I'm not so stressed out about getting pregnant. I'll just go by my body's changes. Sasha~
