Pregnancy After A Myomectomy

Hey all. A little update from me: Its been 4 months since my myo. I just had my first post-op ultrasound and all looks good - but, she found a couple of ovarian cysts. The doc said its probably nothing to get excited about, but she wants to do another ultrasound in a few weeks. The doc still wants me to take an HSG exam soon. I'm just afraid my tubes will spasm and they will think they're blocked when they're not, like last time. But the doc said no matter what the HSG shows, I have the green light to TTC starting in March!! If we're not successful in a few months, then we can discuss other options, namely IVF. I go back to the doc in a few weeks to go over the results of the HSG, and that's when I'll get the second ultrasound to see if there's any change in the cysts. I'm nervous that the HSG will show scar tissue, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I'm trying to focus on the good news that we can start trying in March.

Hi everyone! I'm glad everyone is in such good mood..a lot of moving and shaking going on this month and March. Well, no good news to post from me. AF was 35 minutes late this week and I hoped and hoped but she still showed up..I didn't have any symptoms like b___bs being sore or anything like that but that didn't stop me from hoping and just when I was starting to believe it guess who came knocking..I tried not to open the door but you know once she shows up you have to let her in..or better put ...out!! LOL!! not that I was laughing at the time but I guess if this was a movie it would be funny in some sad way. I have an appointment the last day of the month to go see my GYN/surgeon and he better have some answers for me..I haven't even taken any test like the HSG but I'm going in there and letting him know I'm taking that test and all the other test there is..I want the works get in and get it all over with..this waiting and trying is dricing me crazy....its like I'm on a roller coaster and it started out as fun but now I'm getting tired and scared and just want to get off of it before I loose it. Does anyone else feel like this? I'm not trying to scare anyone..To be honest I think we have only been trying 3 out of the past 6 months with DH always out of town it is hard to meet up at the right time...so on that end of things I'm not too worried but on the other side it has been 3 months and I feel like the d__n roller coaster is going way too fast and I can't control it..so I think I'm going to hit the panic b___ton and call in some help. Wish me luck at my doc appointment. I will let you know what he says. I wonder how long I will have to wait to take the test? I hope I can get it the following week. Any advice out there for me? What other test should I be taking? Any blood test..any thing? MsMonet where are you? You must be over joyed and tired out of your mind. Take everyone! Here is to everyone getting all their test out of the way in March. I think we must feel spring in the air or something!!! OK...Take Care and keep posting :)

Joker, I dont know what all you have done in "trying" but here is what we found. We tried for a year and a half b/f my myo. and before we knew what was wrong. We did 6 IUIs but we started slower. We started with simply taking low doses of Clomid and getting my blood drawn on day 21 to see if I had ovulated. It took a few months to get me going and we just kept raising the dosage until it worked. Then we moved to day 10 sonograms. This allowed us to actually see the follicles, how many and how big. We did this and had a trigger shot to make me ovulate (if 1 or more was big enough) within 24 hours. I liked this b/c we knew WHEN and IF to try. We did that with well times "trying" for a while then moved to IUIs. When we did that of course there was a sperm test. His count was low at first, but went up. Since my surgery we havent been able to try b/c of my blood thinners, but will be starting in a couple of weeks!!!!! After my next period, I have to have the HSG test and am freaking out about it. I have heard bad things! As long as the tubes stayed clear we will start naturally again. There are so many things that you CAN to, just start small. Remember, that Clomid can cause fibroids if taken for more than 6 months. My Dr wasnt concerned about that (although I had been told that there was already a fibroid) and I was on it for 12+ months. Hince, my uterus filled with fibroids followed by a blood clot!!! Good luck! Try all you can...that's the fun part!!!!

Joker, I am sorry you are dealing with all of those emotions. I can understand. Even though I am just days after my myo I wonder how things are going to be and how it will all play out. I have been ttc since July 2005 - 2007 brought 2 BFP's and 2 losses. I am still waiting to hold my little one. I wish us all well. Joker - do you think you would be interested in starting pregnancy after myomectomy part 2 since it takes a long time for this one to load? I think it would only be right for you to start it since you started the original? Maybe some new hope for all of us.

Hi everyone. I didn't realize that others were having computers in which "it took a long time to load" as well. I've been wondering why my computer takes so long for me to sign in and then scroll down and read and post a message. In any event, I just received some sad news. However, I am trying my best to stay positive and keep moving forward. I've been having pain on my left side - the side with the largerst fibroid. Remember...I had 46 fibrods removed last May 2007. Well, I had an ultrasound done yesterday and I have two small fibroids - about 3cm and 2 cm and a hemmoragic (sp) cyst which was probably causing the pain. What can I say? I am so disappointed in having 2 fibroids back so soon. My doctor says she hopes they don't cause problems in pregnancy. Of course- we are presently trying to get pregnant. Please pray for us (my husband and I) as we go through yet another storm. I believe God only gives you what you can handle and we will get through this storm as well. I pray and hope that we will get pregnant immediately. This is our second month of trying. I'll know in about two weeks. If not, we'll give it four more tries before going to fertility. Has anyone else experienced fibroids growing back after a myomectomy and if so did it complicate future pregnmanies? If pregnant-did they cause problemss? Please let me know! Thanks!! Sasha~

Hi everyone! Thank you for the support! I'm just getting to the point where I'm starting to feel angry and frustrated and hopeless. I got pregnant when I wasn't trying..although I did want to get pregnant but it was the att_tude of it happens it happens and than bam! I got pregnant and before I found out I was pregnant I would have thought I had the bird flu before even thinking I was pregnant..that is just how unexpected it was..now that is all I want and it just feels like with all that I went through I'm expecting a break..a little good luck but nothing is happening!!! I'm trying to chill because it has only been a few months of trying but it is just so nerve wrecking I feel like my life is on hold..but at the same time going out of control..I know my words make no sense but I know you girls know what I'm going through..I don't need words to explain it to you..I just feel like if I hear about of one more person I know getting pregnant without even trying or wanting to be pregnant that instead of smiling and saying congrats I'm going to be like WTF!?! and that will be when I hit rock bottom..I hope I don't become that person but I tell you..I'm on the edge! Sasha..I'm so sorry to hear about the 2 fibroids coming back.. but don't lose hope...Fibroids are very tricky...they seem pretty small. The thing to be most concern about with fibroids is how many, size, and location. You can have one or a few big fibroid and they not cause a problem or you can have a relatively small one and it gives you hell. Talk to your doctor about the location and if it will cause a problem. I have two small ones that lay very low in the uterus and my doctor did not want to risk taking them out because to him they were insignificant in size and location and not worth the risk of cutting into my uterus just for the sake of taking them out..or at least that is what he told me so he better be right! As for the cyst, I don't know what type you have or where is located but I think from things I have read cyst are pretty common and mostly go away on there own! I don't want anyone to read my post and think I'm being negative..I'm really not..I'm just venting..I have hope and I'm hoping for the best for me and everyone here..I just can't help but feel like I'm chasing the dragon..especially this month..Feb 22nd will make it 2 years ago that I found out I was pregnant and I'm thinking this period is harder for me because last year I had the MYO coming up so that took my mind away from everything..but nothing going on now but my mind running in circles...AS REQUESTED A NEW THREAD PREGNANCY AFTER MYOMECTOMEY PART 2..don't post anything after this post..come on over to the new one...see you there :-)

Joker, has your doctor mention trying the GnRh agonist stimulation w/ clomid ovarian reserve test yet? The GnRh test is for a__sessing reproductive potential in women. The clomid reserve is to determine if your ovaries are able to produce quality eggs for fertilization. I just went through it and it was really easy. After I finish it - I went in - they did an ultra sound and they were able to see the activity showing they are active. I was told if they were not active than that means I probable wouldn't be able to conceive. So far so good, so we are actively trying this month. Because I got pregnant once, originally they did not test my husband, but if we don't get pregnant this month they are going to test him. Sasha, sorry to hear that your fibroids are coming back. Are you going to try fertility drugs to get pregnant faster? Joker, I tried to find the other thread. What do I look under? It keep taking me back to this one.

meliperdomo - January 21

I just had an abdominal myomectomy and hysteroscopy to have two fibroids and 1 polyp removed. My surgery was last Monday January 12th and it went great. I was scared to death of this surgery and the anesthesia but it was a lot better than I expected. My husband and I have tried to have a baby for five years with no luck and then last September fibroids were found in my ultrasound. One was the size of my fist and the other a cherry. I am still in recover and cannot do much walking around. I stayed at the hospital until Thursday and have had someone take care of me (as far as getting in and out of bed and making my meals.) It is a painful recovery, I cannot lie but considering my stomach and uterus were cut open it really is not that bad. Just make sure to take it easy and do not over exert yourself. If this means I may be able to conceive in the future then it is so worth it and I would do it again in a second.

Acinom - January 26

Hi guys. I have been reading through the blogs here and was wondering if anyone could offer thier advice. I first found out that I had a fibroid three years ago when I went in to have a termination that I now regert but that is another story. At the time, I didn't know what fibroids were and still went ahead with the termination. I am not involved in a serious relationship, however, I do have a friend that I am invloved with intimately. He is also the same person I was pregant by three years ago. We stopped seeing each other for about a year, then got back together again. We have not used any form of contraceptiives for a year, however, I have not concieved, even though I wasn't actually "trying" but at the same time, I was trying to prevent it either, so I figure something should have happend by now. Anyhow, I am scheduled to have a myo on the 19th of Feb to remove a 7 cm tumor. This is the part that I am confused about. I have read and been told by some that it is best to try to conceive right after your myo (excluding recovery time) to increase your chances of pregnancy before new fibroids grow. However, i am not with anyone, so should I just take my chance and become pregant in an effort to beat retun fibroids, or just take the chance and wait with the hopes of fidning someone in the next eight years. One one hand, I would like to start a fmaily the "traditional" way, but on the other hand, I know that we don't always find the mates we would like to, and in my case, I need to find him within a certian time frame. I am not sure if the fibroid is causing me to be infertile or not, but I was able to get pregnant the first time with no problem. So what do I do in this situation. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

mb75 - April 23

I found out today that I need to have a myeo and I am freaking out, I have a 7x6x4cm in my uterine cavity and then others within the muscle. Im so nervous that i wont be able to have a baby. Acinom, I say you go for it if you are ready to be a single parent. I would. How was your surgery? did you have your ob/gyn do it or did you find a specialist? Im not sure how to go about finding the right dr. I dont think I will have my Dr do it because I want someone who does it all the time and it comes second nature to them.
