Pregnancy After Tubal Ligation

To Missy-Please go to another doctor because I know the pain that you are feeling. I felt the pain yesterday before I found out I had an ectopic pregnancy and received the medicine. My doctor didn't want to take any chances of having to remove my tube especially if I could be given the medicine now. I was only 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and I was still given the medicine. So please go get another opinion. I know if I felt that dull ache that was very discomforting that you also described at 5 1/2 weeks, I can only imagine how you are going to feel a couple of days from now and you are 6 weeks. So please don't take any chances. You can see where the pregnancy is if your HCG levels are above 1500. So stay on your doctor or go to another one.

Hey this is Paula. I had to have the Methotrexate shot in the hip after they did a D&C it was very unpleasant, but so far nothing they tell me has come to pa__s. After the D&C I was told I would bleed for 5-7 days like a normal period. I bled for 1 day. After the shot they said there may be some cramping and bleeding. Nothing happened. They are styill testing my hcg levels. they are going down but extrememly slowly. Good luck with everything!

to: momoto3boys The nurse called me at work this morning and said my levels had went back up to 2500.. so now I am going to the hospital after work to get the methotrexate. My thing is, if I had not demanded that they do more bloodwork yesterday, there is no telling what would happen to me. They were going to see me next week even tho I am in pain now and wasnt earlier in the week. Im sad, because I wanted to have a baby by the man I love, but I know its not meant to happen or it would. It just doesnt take long to get used to the idea of having a baby. Im glad things turned out the way you wanted them to. I will keep you posted on how I feel after this treatment. Thanks.

momto3boys; I am very sorry to hear you are having an ectopic pregnancy but so glad they found it in time for medication. I had my surgery done in March and I wish my doctor would have spotted the ectopic pregnany early enough to give me the medication. God bless and keep you safe.

Thanks, Paula. So do you know how long the whole process takes for the pregnancy to dissolve all the way? My doctor told me everything but that. I guess I will ask him when I go back to the hospital Sunday to have my bloodwork done. My husband would really like to know as it is disrupting our s_x life. But my emergency room nurse told me that I may not bleed at all from the shot because of how early they caught it. She said the most I will probably do is spot here and there. So we will see. And to Missy, me and my husband actually played around with the thought of possibly getting our little girl but then reality struck and we looked at our situation, although it's not bad, we just knew that this would not be a good time for another baby. But to tell you the truth, I have been doing alot of reading up on tubal ligations and the side effects it causes, something I didn't do before I had it done. If I knew what I knew now, I would have never gotten them done. Not because I wanted to have another baby but because of what just happened to me and the higher possibility of it happening again. I definitely would have used another form of contraceptive. Oh and Missy, has your doctor given you a transv____al ultrasound? That's how they found, specifically, where the pregnancy was because it was too early to see it on regular ultrasound. If not ask your doctor.

Well, I'm not pregnant. I started bleeding yesterday and today it's VERY heavy. My husband and I are talking about getting a reversal I just want to find a doctor closer to Minnesota to do it. Thanks all and baby dust.....

Missy - June 10

I had the methotrexate injection yesterday evening. Felt pretty significant pain afterwards, not sure if it was the med or the pain from the preg. Thought I would be bleeding by now, but no. My dr. said it was so far up in my tubes I may not bleed much. I do feel better today, not quite as much pain, but there is still some. I wanted to have the baby, but I know it wasnt meant to happen, maybe one day. If I had to do it all again I would have not that surgery. I never thought I would want another baby until I got pregnant, especially now that I know I really love the man that I am with. He always says he wants me to have his baby, I guess if its meant to happen in the right way then it will. Good luck to everyone.

I'm really sorry to hear about the tubal pregnancies. That's gotta be hard. My husband and I are really considering having my tubal reversed. I'm hoping that we will decide to do that because I really want to have a baby with my husband. I do love my 2 kids that I have but I want to share that with my husband now as well. Be praying for me. Thanks!!

Hi, My name is Maryann. I am 39 and I have had a clip incerted approximately 9 years ago. I am now with a new partner and would like to have a child with him. I had heard that after a period of time, that the clip method has less effect as time goes on. Does anyone know if this is true as I would dearly like to have a child with my pressent partner. I would also like to find out more about if it would be more effective by having the clip out at this time of life. with thanks maryann

To Missy-I was wondering if I was the only one who felt the tremendous pain after the methotrexate shot. My doctor and my emergency room nurse told me that I would feel some cramping but not to the point of it having me barely being able to walk. I had to take off work yesterday because I was hurting so bad. Today I feel a whole lot better. I have not had any bleeding either and my doctor and the nurse told me that I probaby wouldn't because of how early they caught it. But I am like you, if I would have really known about these risks, I would not have had the surgery and would have used some other form of contraceptive.
