My levels were at 15 and went up to 16.5 after 3 doses. So, it does work:) I was wondering if anyone else has brown/gray mixed in with the white clumps. Sorry so graphic!

I'm 8 weeks pregnant. This is my second pregnancy. I have never had a miscarriage. From the time that I found out that I'm pregnant (at 4 wks), my doctor has been sending me for blood test after blood test. Around 6 weeks, he discovered my progesterone was 8.5. I had a v____al ultrasound and everything looked good. Saw the babys' heartbeat. He retested my progesterone and it was 14.2. I took another blood test this week and it was 6.1. He immediately put me on oral progesterone 200mg twice a day. I started bleeding on Friday and I haven't stopped since. It is just like a period. I have to go for an ultrasound tomorrow morning to see if I have miscarried. Is there any chance the baby has survived?

My son is living proof that progesterone works. He will soon be 3 years old. I had 3 misscarriages before I was able to carry him. I am now pregnant again and am on 400 mgs. My body doesn't make progesterone so I have to have it. Good luck.

Info from Mark Perloe, MD - June 17

http://health.ivillage.com/gyno/gynoreprohealth/0,,h9,00.html A doctor responding to a patient's question about low progesterone: Unfortunately, many women are led down this wrong path, receive the wrong treatment and ultimately suffer another miscarriage. Their physicians incorrectly decide that low progesterone -- the "pregnancy hormone" of which you speak -- was the culprit and promise that things will go better the next time if only you take enough progesterone. Research shows us that falling or low progesterone levels are a sign of a bad pregnancy and not the cause of pregnancy failure. So first, you did not miscarry because the progesterone level was low. Let's b__w this myth away and try to figure out why you have miscarried. Although only 4 percent of all women will lose two pregnancies in a row, textbooks define recurrent pregnancy loss as three or more losses. Waiting for you to miscarry again before looking for the reason does not seem fair. My evaluation would look for hormonal problems such as diabetes, thyroid, pituitary or ovarian abnormalities. I evaluate the effect that age plays on egg quality. Next, I consider infection, chromosomal abnormalities and structural defects in the uterus. And, finally, I look for immune disturbances that may interfere with normal growth and function of the placenta. This area is rapidly becoming the focus of much research, and physicians disagree on which tests are appropriate and what treatments are best able to treat this condition.

I was put on Progesterone suppositories yesterday. This is my first pregnancy, achieved via IUI and clomid. I'm almost 5 weeks, and while my HCG appears to be fine, my progesterone has gone down this week. I know the suppositories are supposed to be messy, but I'm not leaking much. Not to sound too graphic, but I hope I'm inserting them correctly. Any tips?

Babs - June 20

Tara~ I would consider it a "good" sign that you are not leaking your suppositories. Mine tend to leak out throughout the day. I insert them at bedtime...has your doctor told you to do this? That way, they are staying in while you are sleeping. Also, I have my husband insert mine...he has longer fingers, so I figure they are getting up farther that way. Just some tips...good luck!

Susan - June 20

I agree with you Babs My husband does mine also. Im on 9 weeks my progesterone went up to 37 from 32. Hope everyone is doing good!

Dani - June 21

My prog. dropped in the 5th week and now in my 8th week it is up w/Crinone 8% gel vag. supp., not fun, icky, but they do work!!! My HcG went up to 97,400 so thats good too. The supplements do work so use them!
