Michele while I am so happy for you, this may not be the case with everyone. My doc says if there is a prog problem, then you should stay on prog for 12 weeks. My last miss was at 9 weeks and I was still taking prog so back to the original thought if it is meant to be it will be.

Unfortunately, I miscarried once again. Spotting became heavier on Sat., more cramping and bleeding on Sunday, and HCG level had dropped to 42 on Monday. Doc says not to give up hope, but I think we are going to be done with this whole mess and look into having someone else carry our baby. I have no problem getting pregnant, but can't seem to stay pregnant. Good luck to all of the rest of you, and to the woman taking 400 mg of prometrium, my doctor told me that 200 mg was the highest recommended dosage, so that sort of explains your way overboard side effects.

April- I am so sorry for your loss. I want to tell you that I know what you are going thru and to hang in there. If you are willing to try one more time talk to your Dr about conceiving on Clomid. It is suppose to naturally boost the progesteron in your body so you have a jump start in addition to taking supplements after you conceive. I went to the Dr today, after having some more bleeding on Mon, and we saw a heart beat and the baby measures just right for dates. I must say that I feel relieved but am still very scared. I still need to continue to take 200mg Prometrium and go back for another ultrasound in 2 weeks.

I am to in the same boat. Last year had a m/c I was pregnant with twins and the doctor said when I lost the 1st one it took the second one with it. Now Iam pregnant again at 5 weeks my progestrone level was 10 and he said if should be 15 or higher and I was put on 200mg of prometrium and waiting monday for my ultra sound at 8 weeks. I have had no spotting this time but feeling little crampy, but the doctor said it could be from my uterus growing so we will see on monday what the outcome will be.

Waited the week til Friday to get the blood draw, then thought I had to wait til Monday to get the results, but the nurse just called, and my numbers are looking good - hcg is in range and prog is 20+. Now, I just hope the trends continue. When I was at the dr's office yesterday, I saw my numbers from my last preg. The prog was just the same at 4.5wks, but the hcg was half what it was this time. I am happy to have the hope and I'll talk to the doc on Monday. FYI, this preg feels different, I have the pressure in my abdomen, I am tired all the time, and my b___sts are sore. All that stopped by this point (6wk) last preg and I lost it a week later. Wish me luck.

I took Prometrium (same thing) because my levels were low, and I had a healthy baby boy now 3yrs. Just found out yesterday pregnant again and spotting I took my first pill last night. I had a miscarriage 2yrs before having my son because I was never tested. I will not worry to much this time around. The only problem I had with the medication was dizzines and vomitting. Looking at my son now I can say it was well worth it.

My wife is about 8 weeks pregnant now. We went to the doc 2 weeks back, her progesterone was 12 but the doc said it was suppossed to be 20. So she was put on 200 mg v____al suppositories. We went for an u/s today and could hear a heart beat. So for all you low p's, dont worry just make sure you take those v____al supps and lie down for long enuf.

Well Guys...the Dr. took my wife off the prometrium Last Tuesday. Did a test on Thurs and her Prog level had dropped to 10. My wife is now 14 weeks preg. She stayed off the prometrium and had more work done on Monday. He Level Jumped from 10.2 to 15.1 all by its self. the Dr. said everything looks great. Perfect heart beat and baby is now moving. He also said that some people don't need as much progesterone as others. Keep us in your prayers!

mine was 9.7 and I am being supplemented and the levels rose. This is the 3rd pregnancy I had with low progesterone

I'm now 12 weeks 4 days. At 9 weeks, my prog. level was 9.2, so I was put on 100 mg Prometrium pills 2x per day. At 12 weeks, it had risen to 36.0. I've been told to stop taking the pills now, given that the placenta should be taking over. Ray, how high was your wife's prog. level when she finished her meds, and how quickly did it drop? I'm hoping we're in the clear - got to hear the wonderful heartbeat on Monday (150)!

I am so happy to find this arena. I am 7 weeks, 5 days and yesterday noticed a brownish discharge on my tissue. I am on 200mg v____al progesterone caps, 3X a day...does that sound high?? I am also on 10mg of prednisone 2X a day. This is my 8th IVF and first pregnancy! Has anyone else had this brownish discharge and what is it? I called the nurse this morning and she said is was most probably progesterone and as long as I did not have cramping it was fine...I'm still very nervous and hate going pee! I have heard the heartbeat and seen it and it seems to be going fine, but please let me know if anyone else experienced this "discharge" or spotting...

Lynn, we don't know how high her level was during the last part of the Prog. But, when she came off her level dropped to 10.2 then rose to 15.1. sometimes it just has to bottom out. Hope all works out.

Well we went for a sonogram first time today and Thank G-d we saw a heartbeat!!! I am 7 weeks and just praying to get through the next couple of weeks since last miss was at 7 and the one before at 9 I am feeling a little less worried. My doc said once the prog level goes up we don't need to test again. Has anyone else been tested after their levels went up? I am still on 200mg 2x a day until 12 weeks.

I have had two miscarriages in the past year. I am now pregnant again and 5 1/2 weeks along. My doctor has me on 200 mg prometrium once a day. Does that dosage seem low? I am to go this Thursday to test my progesterone level. Hopefully it has risen from the 6.1 is was earlier. I also wondered about taking a baby aspirin a day would help prevent another miscarriage. Has anyone been told by a doctor to do this while taking prometrium?
