I am currently seven weeks pregnant and have had psoriasis on my scalp for about 3 years. i am currently using Olux with is a topical steriod. Does anyone have any knowledge of this medication and possible effects on pregnancy? nothing is known according to the FDA. any advice on alternative ways to treat this condition would also be helpfull.

I read on webmd that psoriasis may clear up during pregnancy...so maybe yours will clear up some as the pregnancy goes on and you won't even need the medication anymore...I'm sorry I can't help you any beyond that...I also have mild psoriasis on my scalp, but haven't used any medications to treat it as it is more just an annoyance, and I am still ttc. Have you asked your OB about the medicine? Maybe they will be able to tell you a bit more or tell you something else safe you can use. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

My psoriasis disappeared while I was pregnant - I was using some steroid - can't remember the name but it wasn't Olux. I stopped using it completely because I was not happy with the idea of being pregnant and using such a strong steroid. The Psoriasis got worse for the first 3 months (but not as bad as it had been before I started using the steroid) and then completely disappeared. It stayed away until about 6 months after the birth - and even then it didn't come back to the same extent. I know its really hard to decide what to do about using medications while you're pregnant. I decided that since the psoriasis wasn't life-threatening I would put up with it while pregnant. Unfortunately they don't carry out many drug trials on pregnant women so I doubt there is much information out there about possible effects.
