my midwife told me she has a mom who had same experience, back ache and all, and after ultrasound, TWINS. Don;t worry yet- have you had ultrasound yet?

Well, ladies, this is a follow-up to my situation. I posted before about going to the ER and being diagnosed with "threatened miscarriage", and was spotting and all....and sure enough, I followed up with my doctor and I have miscarried. The fetal pole stopped developing at 6 weeks. It was a blighted ovum. It's still inside of me, and I am waiting for it to pa__s naturally. If it doesn't pa__s naturally by Monday, I have to make an appt. for a D&C, which I didn't want to have done. But i have a question: Does anyone know any information about the link between Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom (PCOS) and miscarriages? I was diagnosed with this last year, and I seriously believe a hormonal imbalance caused me to miscarry. And I believe it will happen again next time I get pregnant. (IF I get pregnant again....) Anyone have any info on this?? Serena

Hi, It's good to hear that others are going through the same thing. I have been spotting brown for almost 3 weeks now. I am almost 8 weeks pregnant. It started after intercourse and never stopped. I've had 2 ultrasounds and baby's heart is still beating and baby is growing. I'm scheduled to return to Dr tomorrow to see if everything is still ok.

I am 8 weeks pregnant and I have started spotting also. I started last week and 1st if was light pink on the toilet paper then later on it ws light brown. I called and made an appt. r told me it could be a pssible miscarriage or infection and so forth. He told me not to have s_x for a while. I am scheduled for a sono on Wed. and I guess I will see from there what is going on. This kind of scares me but I am not having any pain. I have been lifting bags and walking a lot. I read another post saying that if you drink more water it may stop it, not sure how true but I will up my water intake. Then I have a follow up on the following tuesday. So hopefully everything is ok. I appreciate everyones input and the fact that they are sharing their experiences.

Hello All, I am so releived to see this thread. I am 33 and just found out on Wednesday that I am pregnant for the first time. My last full period was on 6/10/05. I believe I conceived on June 21st or shortly there after. Over the fourth of July weekend I had some serious back pain but no bleeding. I have had SI joint problems in the past and thought this was just more of the same. Yesterday (Saturday) evening I came home from the movies to find that I had spotted brown about the size of a half dollar. Earlier in the evening I had felt some cramps and even a pang of pain. After not sleeping much last night, I woke up and stayed in bed most of the morning. This afternoon when I began moving I started spotting lightly again, both when wiping and when not. I have called friends and read all of the postings on this thread. I am thankful for all of your postings and wish you all well. Like many of you I am still scared about what this may mean. I believe I am just shy of 4 weeks pregnant. When I found out I was pregnant last week I made my first appointment for an OB/GYN. They could not schedule me in sooner than August 17th. Now that I am experiencing these difficulties I wonder if they will be able to squeeze me in sooner. If not, I plan on calling my Internist. Although it sounds like it is too early to detect anything on an ultra sound, I appreciate the suggestion on getting blood work to test for rising levels. I will keep you all posted. I am praying for you all.

Im entering my eighth week and have been spotting on and off. It's a brownish discharge and I have seen 2 clots which are tiny, but it still worries me. I have had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat, then at 7 weeks saw my doctor and cervix closed and said everything was fine. I hope everything goes well. wish you all luck!!

Katie, If you call your doctors office and tell them your spotting they will most likely squeeze you in. Just be aggressive. They might schedule you an ultrasound and you won't have to wait so long to calm your nerves. Good luck! My update, I am 7 weeks 4 days now and things are looking up. My spotting seems to have stopped for the time being and my cramping has decreased alot. Just having the spotting stopped makes me worry alot less. I can't wait to be out of the 1st trimeseter when they say yout odds of miscarring is much less. My prayers are with everyone battling this situation.

I went to the ER b/c I saw a rusty color clump come out yesterday. They ran every test and about 5 vials later said to take it easy. I did have s_x before the spotting, so I figured it was the cause. ER nurse was also 8 weeks and she said as long as I don't have severe cramping then it could just be implantation or summin like that. It should go away in a day or so. Call your Dr. anyway! It's best to be safe. I freaked out b/c this is my first pregnancy, i thought it was the embryo that came out, and besides the family and friends are expecting a baby so I can't miscarry! It would be devastating! Good Luck and Congrats! I'm craving ice cream and pickles gotta go! (Yucky I know)

Ok I am on my 8th week and had two days of no spotting, I was so relieved and then the second night I went to the urinate and when I wiped it came out alittle pinkish. Im so upset , because I thought the spotting was over, I will just have to be patient . Anyone else in their 8 th week and still spotiing?

Katie - July 19

Susan, Thank you for your encouragement. I really appreciate it. I did get in to see the doctor yesterday. They took my blood and will do so again next Monday. Tomorrow afternoon I will go for an ultra sound. I am trying to remain optimistic but it is challenging. The nurse practicioner I met with thought everything sounded okay until I told her that my chest was no longer as tender as it had been... Thank you for sharing your experiences with me. I am terribly sorry to hear that you had a miscarriage. The fact that you now have a pregnancy that is progressing well makes me very hopeful. I have also had an outpouring of support from family and friends. Knowing that I am not alone and that people go one to have happy, healthy babies is tremendously comforting. I will pray that things continue to go well for you and I will keep you updated.

Hey, congrats on the pregnancy! Well, I would suggest bedrest...keeping yourself relaxed. The bleeding can be normal...and most of the time there's no problem. But keeping yourself and your baby calm and rested may help. Dont do any heavy work...lifting the laundry basket or carrying a 2 yr old. Have family and friends help you out with house chores. And dont think of this as being bossy or selfish, remember, you are not only thinking about yourself right now! Hope everything turns out well for you and good luck.

hey everybody. i have written on the 8 weeks and spotting QA also. i just found out i was pregnant about 2 weeks ago. the weekend after i found out i bleed like a period for 3 days then it ended. i went to the doctor they took a urine test and a blood test. the urine test came back negative but the blood test came back positive. i started spotting about 4 days afte that incident a brownish discharge that only appears when i wipe and mostly in the morning when i wake up. i have had some pink but very light and very little. the doctors have been running blood test every other day just to make sure my hormones levels are increasing the right way, and so far they are. i had a ultrasound yesturday but they said i need to wait until next week for my results( i have never heard anything like that before!) so i am thinking of going to the emergency room just to have a full piece of mind. wondering if anyone ever went through this before? i have one child and didn't experience this with her!

Hi I am 34, I have had 2 MC. I am currently pregnant. I went to the hospital on Monday because I had some red spotting. I have been spotting the whole time but this time it was red. I know I conceived on June 26. All of my HCG levels have been wonderful. I am on prometrium because of the 2 previous MC. The hospital told me that the fetal pole was the size of 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat therefor it is a blighted ovum. I think it's because I am not as far along as they think I am. I will get another ultrasound on Tuesday and I am scared to death. I am still spotting but only after I urinate then wipe. Someone help. I am so scared.

ieshea - July 21

chaundra, it will be okay. i know plenty of people who have ultrasounds at six weeks with no heartbeat. they usually say they find heartbeats between 6 and 8 weeks. i just found out yesturday i had a miscarriage. there is hope and everything will workout according to god's plan. you are in my prayers.

Katie - July 21

Ieasha, I just found out I had a miscarriage yesterday as well. Like you, I have a great deal of hope about what the future will hold for my husband and I. We have a lot of love to give and both have faith. I will pray for you as well as the others on this site.
