for Latoya, No this does not mean that you lost your baby. Go to the Dr.

for kim b - apparently it matters where the sch is because if it is above the baby and it bleeds it can 'flush' the baby out with it. mine is below and i was told that was the best place for it to be. good luck x

Hi Ladies - I hope everyone is keeping well. Just updating - it's now 18.4 weeks - no bleeding since 10.5 weeks. Just had the second level ultra-sound yesturday and the baby is fine. No sign of the hematoma that cursed me the first 6 weeks of my pregnancy. For all you ladies still suffering - hang in there, don't lose faith, your babies will be ok. Love to all, Donna

Hi again. Just a quick question. Is anyone still bleeding, or is it just me? It seems to never end. Since my last "big bleed" a month ago, I've been bleeding/spotting brown blood daily. Some days more, some days less. Lately though, it seems to be getting redder (like burgundy) and more volume again. Has anyone experienced this? Just when I thought it was stopping, it seems to have restarted again. Is this a bad sign? I'm only seeing my doctor in 10 days.. I hope I can last! Thanks for your help, and I hope you're all doing well! Jasmine (now about 16W)

I was diagnosed with a SCH at my 6wk scan. The tech asked if I was bleeding and was quite suprised I hadn't had any. This of course was until I reached 9wks. I started with tanish color spotting off and on for a few days. Then turned pink. Now 'm on day 2 of red blood, with clots, my cervix feels slightly open but of course not sure, maybe from the blood ??? I'm not sure if this is just the hematoma or I'm m/c

Rebecca - September 26

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with a hematoma at 6 weeks. I bled heavily (bright red with lots of clots) at 6, 7 and 12 weeks and have been on bed rest for over 8 weeks. The bed rest actually does seem to help me as I have only hemmoraged when I have (at my Dr.'s advice) increased my activity level. I have been spotting brown blood pretty much every day since this nightmare began. Last week I was also diagnosed with 2 cervical polyps that the Dr. thought may be in some way related to the clot. Apparently they both grew up into the uterus where my clot is. He removed them and my spotting has improved slightly. Has anyone else had any experience with polyps? Can they cause subchorionic bleeds? Also, I had the first trimester screening test for Down Syndrome 2 weeks ago. It came back positive for an increased risk. I was bleeding very heavily just hours before I took the test and the Dr.s have suggested that the blood may have altered the results. Does anyone have any info on this? I am going out of my mind worrying about the pregnancy and baby--and of course I have lots of time to do so since I am stuck on the couch all day long. This is great site--it has given me a lot of rea__surance throughout the weeks. I nam grateful to you all for that!

JASMINE:I bled every darn day from 8.1 weeks to about 16.5 weeks. Starting with gushing red for at least a 3 days, slow dark red, pink brown ... The bleeding has now stopped,I'm 19.2 weeks now. REBECCA: Don't take that screening as the "gospel" truth.I turned the test down because of the many many false results.I'm 43. Let go of your fear and let God handle this...you are stronger than you think.

just an update to give you all hope! i had major bleeding at 12 weeks which continued for about four weeks, i went for my 20 weeks scan yesterday and everything is fine! my placenta is back where it is supposed to be and there is no sign of the sch! so try not to worry too much if you keep bleeding it could be a good thing and the sch is just draining itself like mine did. Oh and i also found out that i'm having another baby girl i'm so excited i feel like bouncing around! i actually 'feel' pregnant now, don't think i was allowing myself to think about it before just incase the worst happened. well i'm off to mothercare now to buy lots of goodies! sincerely hope everyone of you has the same good news i have x

Congrats paulajo! Had my 2nd u/s last week, the sch is 4cm and stable (no change from last week). They determined it is NOT between the placenta and uterine wall which is very good news; also, it is on the edges of the placenta and away from the cord so that is also good. I am not on bed rest but I am encouraged to rest 'as much as possible', also no exercise, no lifting, and full pelvic rest. I've not had anymore bleeding. I'm just taking it easy and waiting for the next u/s in another 2 weeks. Hugs and prayers for all of you.

Wow it had been a long time since I posted! I am now 31 weeks and I can remember being in all of your shoes in one way or another. I have not bled since 19 weeks and started my pregnancy with bright red bleeding at 8 weeks. I began to taper off but had another huge bleeding time at 15 weeks. My sch largest size was 13cm and now rests at 4cm. No, mine has not reabsorbed or disappeared but is so small in comparison to baby and placenta that my "peri" thinks it's of no consequence at this point. I did however get an u/s a week ago that said the sch was growing? Huh? I was almost thinking that it could be a shadow or maybe everything inside was shifted or something. It was not much bigger but it was larger than the last time they measured me. I am going to start doing non stress tests at 32 weeks per Docs orders. We did fing out that baby is big by the scan. They think he already weighs 4lbs 15 oz and could easily be a 10lb baby at term. So they may decide to induce early. Otherwise all is well. I am feeling great and baby is very healthy. Hang in there everyone....I was so scared back when I was bleeding....but time has pa__sed and now I am almost done. This thread was a lifeline to me in a way....a place to ask questions and share fears. I know there will be many happy tears shed when these journeys are finally over! God Bless...Sabrina

Hi Sabrina - Good to hear from you and that the SCH is not a problem now. I just had another scan yesterday at 34 weeks because they were worried my baby was small for dates. I wasn't very worried as its always been small but within the normal range. Everything was fine - its still small but within the normal range. Its smaller than your baby though at 4 pounds 10 ounces. They think it maybe a girl but aren't sure - it didn't want to open its legs much and didn't want its photo taken either - it puts its feet over its head - its shy! It was good to have everything checked though and know everything is fine (growth, placenta and fluid) and its head down. 6 weeks to go - I better get on with that baby shopping. Good luck to anyone with a hematoma - I had a ma__sive one in the first trimester (several times size of the baby at one point) and bleeding from week 6 to week 14 so everything can work out fine and normally does.

Cor - October 1

Just had my 4th ultrasound and I am 20 weeks. At at 8 weeks I had 2 large hematomas with one baby and one empty sac. I bled everyday till about 17 weeks. Now the hematoma is GONE. The ultrasound tech told me she remembered me and never thoght I would make it this far. She said the baby looks beautiful. There is hope!

Jennifer - October 1

I'm just beginning my 12th week and found out that I have a subchorionic bleed. I found out because at 9 weeks I woke up to bright red blood in my underwear, kinda a lot of it to. My doctor admitted me to the hospital and that's when they saw the bleed. I am now bleeding again but it's dark brown and it was kinda a lot again. My doctor put me on strict bed rest and is hoping it's not loss of the amniotic fluid.

Monica - October 2

About two weeks ago I was diagnosed with an average size SCH at the very top of the sac. This was finally discovered after three weeks of bleeding including one gushing bleed that lasted for almost ten hours in the hospital with talks of needing a transfusion for blood loss. Last weekend the blood vessel again ruptured and I heavily bled for 7 hours in the hospital. Three days later I was seen by a leading perinatologist in Philadelphia and his news was not great- the SCH is now almost a foot long! I am on strict bedrest in hopes that the vessel will not rupture again, because this amount of blood would separate the placenta if it ends up reaching it. I've been in bed three days and I'm already going crazy because I am a mother of a 10month old boy and a three year old girl. I have amazing help, but it's hard to watch/hear them and not be able to help. Any advice? And has anyone's SCH gotten as large as mine? One more fun note, I'm expecting twins and this amount of blood on the sac usually causes a woman's water to break very early. I'm only 17 weeks, so we're praying to make it at least another 10 weeks.

Jennifer - October 2

Hi this is Jennifer and I just wrote the other day but I am so terrified right now. I am in my 12th week and found out about my bleed a couple of weeks ago. I have one healthy child who I placed for adoption because at the time I was way to young to give her the life she deserved. I since then have lost two pregnancies at 23 weeks. One was from a placenta abruption in 2002 and the other the baby had fluid in his brain and was born stillborn 6 months ago. I am now pregnant again and clinging on to the little hope I do have. I had stopped bleeding after the first trip to the hospital and then two nights ago woke up to soaked underwear. This time it was brown and the first time it was bright red. I also leak fluid every few days. I don't know if it is amniotic fluid or just heavy discharge. It's clear but sometimes has some white tint to it. I then called my doc's answering service and of course my doctor would happen to not be in until Monday. The other doctor who I don't know at all told me that her only worry is that it may be amniotic fluid and that would mean that the baby couldn't grow. She then told me that if that is the case then I should need a D&C on Monday with my doctor. However she did also mention that it could be the remainder of the sub choronic bleed coming out which would't be a bad thing. Actually that would be a miracle. I also was on blood thinners because when I am pregnant I have a protien s problem and that found that out because of the last pregnancy loss. Since I have had the bleed the perinatologist has told me to stop the thinners or I could bleed out. I am now on a baby asprin as a subst_tute. I see two of the best doctor's around so I know they are doing the right thing but it's just so hard. Not just for me but for everyone. I'm so depressed lying in my bed everyday due to bed rest. I keep wondering if I will ever get to be a mom. When will it be my time to shine? Sorry if I'm depressing everyone. You all are so strong, I've read your statements and I'm so determined because of you. I have hope that I didn't have before I came to this website. Thank you.
