Melissa - I'm so sorry to hear that. I really hope they've caught it soon enough. It'll be hard to wait a year. I wish I could make it better. I really hope you can get through it in your own way and enjoy your son. Best wishes. Justine

melissa, i am so very very sorry for your loss.god has a reason for everything i guess even if we dont agree. stay positive and keep the faith and good things will follow. on a diferent note i went for a check up last week and the doctor says things are looking good. baby has a great heartbeat and thinks things are going well. still spotting brown occasionally but he said that was good that the old blood is coming out. i go June 30th for a follow up u/s. but in the mean time still have to take it easy and just lie around which is extreamly hard having 3 children already. and you know the men try so hard but its never quite the way we do it. i dont know what is more stressful my husband and the kids or the complications of my pregnancy. well good luck to us all. keep the faith. god has a plan and never gives us more than we can deal with. best wishes everyone

Abby - Generally when you have a clot brown blood is the clot coming away so I'd say its good news. Its scary esp. in the early days but at 7 weeks with bleeding and a heartbeat there's a 90% chance everything will be fine. Once you get to 9 weeks and you see a heartbeat its 96% with bleeding so your chances get better week by week. I hope your next scan shows everything getting better. Take care.

thanks Justine...there are days when there is a lot of brown and there are days when there is nothing...just counting days to my next u/s....somebody tell me is it possible for the clot to go away without any bleeding.

Abby - It's possible for a clot to go away without bleeding though the doctors told me if your clot is large you tend to bleed brown as the clot is to big for the body to absorb. Small clots (around 1 inch) can just disappear - the body absorbs them.

Yes, I was diagnosed with this at 11 weeks with my third baby. I bled badly and had pain for the first 24 hours. I continued bleeding and cramping for the next 6 weeks. After that I had on and off spotting and pains (contractions) the rest of my pregnancy. When I was 33 1/2 weeks pregnant, my water broke. I had a 4 pound baby girl be emergency c section. The doc said the presence of a large hematoma (like mine) has a higher than normal chance for preterm delivery. Thankfully our outcome was good and our baby was home 10 days later. Good luck to all of you with this condition. I know how hard it is as the info out there is contreversial.

Being able to read about all these different stories, heartwarming and heartbreaking, has been such a help to me. I thank you for all your encouraging comments. My doctor got the pathology report back from what they took out of me and as it turns out it was not a cancerous Molar Pregnancy after all which means that my husband and I can try again to have a baby within the next two months or so. They're not sure why I didn't miss-carry on my own, the last u/s we had did not show any fetal...anything there was nothing there. so there is a small ray of hope somewhere around the corner, Ill keep you posted. Thanks again

I was diagnosed with this condtion last Monday. it has been a very long week but hopeful.I am now on complete bed rest exception only to go to the bathroom. My question is that I feel so bad all the time like I have the flu. I have bees running a low grade fever as well. I am now 8 weeks pregnant. What are the outcome of caring this baby all the way to term ? please help

Lisa, you should see your doc about the fever. One of the things my doctor told me warranted an immediate call was a fever. It is always better to be safe than sorry! I hope you have a happy outcome with your pregnancy.

I am sooo thankful to all of you who wrote your stories. I have been searching for days for some type of info on this exact topic...haven't found much. I started spotting at 8 weeks and actually thought I was going to lose the baby. (I have had 4 miscarriages total, all before 12 weeks in between my others kids. I have 5 children) I went to the DR and they did an ultrasound and told me baby was fine. I cried and cried....I was put on light duty with no pelvic activity and was told I had a small Subchorionic Hematoma. This was news to me. I have never heard of this nor had any friends that had it. I continued to spot dark brown only when I used the restroom. Until this last thursday....I bent over to put clothes away in the bottom of my dresser and felt a whoosh. I had bright red bleeding and had soaked through my jeans. As I was trying to clean up and call my husband who was outback in the yard I was literally dripping all over. My husband came in and was very worried. We called the DR right away and as soon as I was there they got the doppler and heard the baby's heartbeat....that was my first relief. Next they sent me for an Ultasound again but this time they found that my bleed had grown...I am not sure of the measurements, it never occured to me to ask. They don't know why it's getting bigger it was supposed to be absorbed into my body. Everything looks beautiful with my baby. Growing just right and my dates are correct. The heartbeat is strong. I am 15 1/2 weeks along. Seeing baby kick around and "play" was such a relief. Now I am on bed rest...Ha,Ha,Ha
I have 5 kids already. We are getting meals delivered and my spotting has stopped completely. My older kids are a huge help But the DR tells me I am not out of the woods yet. I am supposed to see the high risk DR in 1 week. I have no idea what questions to ask him/her or what my options are because I have found very little info on this. My other pregnancies were textbook with the exception of the ones I lost. What questions are important for me to know? Will I really have a Pre mature baby? Does anyone know? I hope they lift my bedrest a little...this is a challenge.
Thank you again for telling all your stories....It's a comfort to know I am not alone. I know we are all in God's hands and that He sees each one.

Hi Sabrina - The questions I would ask are what is the size of the hematoma, where am I bleeding from (normally they can't tell you exactly but can say if its from you or from the placenta), and where is the hematoma in relation to the baby. I don't know the chances of preterm labour - my doctor told me I should have a normal birth (though I'm still scared about being preterm) but other people seem to have been told they are at increased risk for preterm and info. on the internet varies. I'd ask your doctor about this too and try and get them to commit to a rough percentage it will happen rather than just increased risk. At my hospital they do a scan (cervix length) at 21 weeks to see if you'll be preterm or not - mine's on 30 June. I'd get one of these done if your hospital does it. Hope all goes well for you.

Yes, I had some heavy bleeding at 9 weeks that quickly turned to spotting. I was put on bed rest. I was good all week and started spotting (dark brown) at the end of week 10. This week (week 11), I went to the Dr. again, blood was still seen in the uterus and the clots were close to my cervix. Dr. put me on pretty strict bed rest for two more weeks. Pray for the best!!

I startd spotting at 5 weeks and was diagnosised with my SCH at 6.5 weeks. Had basically been spotting daily (never anything really heavy) until a couple of days ago. I am now just over 18 weeks. I was on bed rest for about 8 weeks total although the spotting was never any heavier when I was allowed to be somewhat active. Had my Level II US yesterday and there is barely a trace of the SCH!!! I do still have a low-lying placenta that we need to monitor, but the SCH no longer seems to be a problem.
Just wanted to share a positive story with those of you who may be in the early stages.

I'm really scared.... I'm 11 weeks and I have had complications since this pregnancy began. About five weeks back I experienced lots of bright red bleeding so i rushed to the emergency where there diagnosed me as having a "threatened miscarriage". About two weeks later I pa__sed a large blood clot accompained by lots of bright red blood. At this point we thought I lost the baby. I had an ultra sound this week to rule on the spontaneous abortion and there was still a baby there. The heart beat was strong and the baby was moving. Now at 11 weeks I'm still having very heavy dark brown bleeding. I'm worried asthe ultra sound showed I have bleeding below the placenta and lots of it. As there isnt much info on this and the doctors are vague on my condition as they are not sure... I 'm so worried and frustrated.. Do you have any answers?

Yes I have.I was diagnosed at 12 weeks and 2 days.I am now 15 weeks and still have bleeding and spotting.Been to emerg 5 times because of it.Each time they do an ultrasound and the baby is always good.Last night i was there again. The doctor did an ultrasound and the baby was fine and moving around.I was told that the bleeding would continue till the developing of the placenta had slowed down.To only be concerned if I got severe cramping and soaking pads every hour.I have not been put on anything for it.As long as the baby is still active and growing in each ultrasound everything is fine.I was so scared when told i had this as I have never gone through this before in any of my other pregnancies.I feel better having read everyones answers.SO rest and have faith in God.
