HI BRANDI IM LESLIE YES ITS TOO EARLY TO HAVE s_x AGAIN U HAVE TO WAIT AT LEAST 6 WEEKS I KNOW U WANT TO GET DOWN AND NASTY WITH UR MAN BUT GIVE YOUR BODY TIME TO HEAL THEN WHEN YOUR 6 WEEKS IS UP MAKE SURE YOUR ON BIRTH CONTROL USE A CONDOM AND GO FOR IT TRUST ME ITS BETTER TO WAIT WHEN YOU GO TO YOUR 6 WEEK APPOINTMENT THE DOCTOR WILL ASK YOU WHAT TYPE OF BIRTH CONTROL YOU WANT TO USE.

My doctor told me that you can resume s_x when you and your partner are comfortable with it. If you're all done with bleeding and you're feeling ok down there, go ahead and try but just be prepared that it might still hurt and you might want to stop. Good luck! The six week rule is just a general suggestion.

Me and my dh started again about 2 weeks after my babies were born. I was never told not to by any midwives. I had quite a few st_tches but they were out by then and I felt ready. I had no pain and it was..er....great!

To each his own. S_x was the last thing on my mind after giving birth. With my first son, I gave in to the pressure from his father after 4 wks and it was not nice. But I guess if you're ready then it's up to you, but drs. do suggest waiting 6 wks to give your body time to heal and also especially after a v____al birth you're more susceptible to infection because you're not completely healed. But everybody's body is different so only you know when you're ready.

ok, I read on another thread that the reason for the 6 week thing is that you have to wait untill your cervix is closed all the way back up so you don't get an infection, but I was wondering since a lot of women dialate before giving birth why aren't they told not to? Is that the real reason for the no intercourse for 6 weeks or not?

Me and my hubby went at it for the first time when baby was about 2 weeks old. It hurt a little, but we took it slow. We tried again almost a week later and things felt pretty much back to normal.

My dd is 12 wks old, and it STILL hurts when we have s_x, to the point where we just can't. I am going to have to go back to the dr. I guess. At my 6 wk checkup she said I was completely healed and good to go.

Brandi-
I guess it's been long enough for you now...so enjoy!
Atarahsmommy- I think that the reason it's ok is because you have the mucas plug protecting the cervix. Additionally, your body will have been through a lot of trauma and will be less able to fight off infection. You energy needs to be on maintaining recovery and caring for the baby, not fighting germs, bacteria, etc.

My baby is now 16 days old and we had s_x on the 13th day after he was born. I personally would have waited until I actually felt like it with out Dh starting it, but then it might never have happened! It was ok, a little sore afterwards, but nothing major. He actually delivered our baby at home and I was suprised and told him that after that, I thought he'd never want s_x again! It's our fourth, so birthing is not new to him, just being at that end directly I though would have put him off for a few more weeks - not so!
