Pp Cervical Discharge Amp Spotting

Two weeks ago I started having a yellow cervical mucous...quite a bit of it. For the last 6 days I have spotted in the morning ONLY then it stops by afternoon. It is odd b/c it is blood combined with stretchy cervical mucous. Anyone experience this? Called the doctor & she said to take a preg test.
