Too Early After To Tell

So I just stopped the pill about a month ago due to terrible side effects. My husband and I just got married 4 months ago and so we've been trying to be careful. Though we may not fully be ready for a baby so soon after getting married, it would also be a welcomed blessing. I had my normal period the 15th-18th ish.... and had terrible cramps with it the 15th. This past tuesday the 23rd I woke up again with weird cramps. This is new for me to have cramps AFTER my period... what the heck?! I had a bit of them Wed and then Thur (Christmas) they got a little worse again, but it came and went. My mom and Aunt said maybe it's implantation cramps but then my mom said it would be too early for my body to have gotten pregnant after just having my period a week ago.... Any ideas on this? Is she correct?

It is far too early for implantation cramps. The fertilized egg doesn't implant until about 10 days after ovulation -- and ovulation typically happens 14 days before your next period. If your cycle is about 28 days long, that would mean you'd be ovulating Dec 29th and could experience implantation around Jan 9th. The more likely suspect this time of year is mild digestive upset like constipation causing cramping because of the indulgences we all take in our diets this time of year.
