Hi Everyone,
Ok here is the situation...today makes 21 days late. My last period was June 22nd and lasted its normal time as well as started on time. I had surgery on the 23rd on some minor plastic surgery and a week later I started spotting which is very unusual for me. The spotting was about 3 or 4 days after my period ended and lasted almost 2 and half weeks. My period was expected to come on July 20th but of course that time has come and gone which makes me 3 weeks late. I have taken atleast 10 tests and they have all been a BFN! I am so confused because with my son my positive showed up right away. My period has always been on time and the one time I was late was when I was pregnant with my son but I knew I was pregnant before I even missed my period. I have been cramping the entire 3 weeks I have been late but nothing has come out which makes me even more confused. Please some one help!!

I had the same thing a few months ago, except I skipped two periods and had a few synptoms like craming, nauseous, and frequent urination. I had a blood test, and it was negative, then i went to my gyno and he did an exam and some bloodwork. Turned out to be two cysts about the size of a quarter, one one each ovary. He put me on a hormone therapy to shrink the cysts and i got my period about 34 days afterward. I would recommend going to your gyno and getting an exam to find out if there are any cysts. Good luck!

Here's the deal. You have to ovulate to have a period. If you ovulated and something got a little messed up, the corpus luteum, the follicle on your ovary where your mature egg popped from, will continue pumping pregesterone into your body, your period is what stops the life of the corpus luteum which in turn lowers progesterone. The later your period gets, the more symptoms you're going to experience because it is preparing your body for your new little one. If the egg didn't get fertilized (and even if it did) and doesn't implant, you aren't pregnant. If your period is a few months late (or even if you're irritated with its absence now) I would ask my ob/gyn for an ultrasound, they usually won't deny, and if nothing seems wrong ask for provera to jump start your period. Our bodies need a little help sometimes.
