Brown Discharge A Week Before Period Due?

Hi there,
I've been experiencing some spotting ever since Wednesday. I had a big argument with my partner Tuesday night and took some ibuprofren before I went to sleep. When I woke up I had some light pinky/red spotting. I've never had this before so I was quite concerned. I'm still spotting today, however it is now consistently brown and showing no signs of stopping. I'm on birth control (I understand this may be the wrong site to post this but I'm super scared and I've read similar experiences from people on this site) and I'm taking my last pill this Wednesday. So my period should arrive around Friday/Saturday time. Does anyone have any similar experiences that can reassure me? Or is this a sign of pregnancy?
