Oh yeah, are they identical??

newbaby2009 - October 13

I thought different s_x twins were only known as fraternal twin?/

amanda17 - October 13

No you're right newbaby. I missed that part, for some reason I thought she was just having girls. That one flew over my head lol

newbaby2009 - October 13

Yea, i figured you missed it, lol. I googled it bcuz i was curious and there are actually 6 cases of different s_x twinds being identical. Both start out as males but for some reason the Y chromosome disappears in one of them.

Yeah, everyone tells me I am going to have a blast..yeah maybe after the crying at all hours of the night, being an on demand cow and stuff like that...but yeah I am SERIOUSLY excited

Hm that's interesting Newbaby. I've never heard that before. I wonder how they come out looking the same only different genders? Kinda weird. Twins 4 me- I'm sure it will have it's moments where you want to rip your hair out, but then you'll have other moments like "MAN my kids ROCK!" That's going to be great having a boy and a girl. Do you know what you're doing to name them?

Amanda i copied and pasted it for you. Although extremely rare, there are now doc_mented cases of boy/girl identical twins. A brief science lesson as to how the phenomena could realistically take place would begin with an egg being fertilized by one sperm, then dividing itself into two separate eggs, which is also the exact way identical same-gendered twins begin life. However, in the case of boy/girl identical twins, those fertilized eggs initially both contain male DNA only. We all learned in high school biology that male DNA have an X-chromosome and a Y-chromosome and it’s the Y-chromosome which makes him male and female DNA have two X-chromosomes. Well, in the case of mixed-gendered identical twins, which always begin male, the Y-chromosome disappears, and science has offered no explanation for it. As a result of losing the Y-chromosome, the male twin becomes female with an XO DNA chromosome pairing. The name for this condition is called Turner's Syndrome.
