I remember picking out Ellie's name and thinking I didn't want to name her anything embarrassing. I didn't want her to hate me later for naming her something really odd... For example, everyone has heard Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughter 'Apple.' Most people have the reaction "Whoa she's off her rocker" I happen to love that name. It just has a nice ring to me. When I was thinking of a boy name way back when, before I knew Ellie's s_x, I kept coming back to the name Audio. It was the only boy name I really liked, but I was so worried he, or other people, would have a "wtf" reaction to it. Just for the sake of conversation, is there any name you really love but is a little odd?

What would his middle name be if you named him Audio? It actually made me think of adios. I know how incredibly cruel people can be and would hope noone would make comments about Harold being mexican.
I like the names Paxton and Gunner as well. I dont think either is to " out there." My cousin and her husband made their little boys middle name Remington bcuz the hubsand loves to hunt and thats his favorite gun and ammo.

Well the word 'audio' means sound or like electronic sound so yeah... I was thinking of a middle name like Audio Tyler or Audio James... but there's this guy that both Harold and I don't really like who's name is James >.< I don't even know if I should really worry about it. I mean my name is Amanda, a perfectly common, nice name... and I still got made fun of, kids would say "She's a man...DUH!" So you could pretty much make fun of anyone's name really...

Sorry Tess I totally missed your comment. Violent Violet? Bleh. One of my fellow June mommies on the infant care forum named her daughter Violet, I think it's pretty. Besides, why would they call her that unless she's actually violent? It doesn't make much sense.

I've always liked Isis and Ophelia for a girl but I don't think I could ever name one that. And names like Promise , Wish, Treasure, and Whisper . But the name I truely love is my daughter's Hannah Jewels.

Hm, why do you suppose that is? I had a lot of names picked out that I liked for both a boy and a girl when I was pregnant. But even though I loved the names I skipped pa__s them to move on to a more traditional way. Now I wonder if it was really so important to have a traditional name just so people wouldn't give funny looks... Maybe it's more important to name them something beautiful and meaningful... regardless of how others may perceive it. I'll try to keep that in mind next time.

Personally I didn't want a name that was too common. I mean I grew up 1 of like 5 Jennifer's in my cla__s and I didn't want to do that to my daughter. However I think a more common name goes well with less common ones. And this way when she grows up and becomes a doctor, judge, president, whatever she can use Hannah if she wants to sound more professional.

That's what I was thinking. My daughter's name is Elizabeth so that's a really elegant, professional sounding name when she's older. We call her Ellie because I thought it was unique (apparently it isn't. I really thought I just made that name up on my own but I've heard it's actually quite common) and it seems more appropriate for casual meetings or just a younger person. Then when she's a teenager she can go by Elle if she wants too, which sounds a little more grown up than Ellie. Anyway I'm rambling but yeah I know what you mean. Guess how many Amandas there are haha.
