Congratulations. I was in tears the first time Ellie smiled too. Wait until she learns to laugh, you will be so happy you won't know what to do. I was that kind of happy where you are so frustrated being that happy because you have no idea what to do to properly express it.

haha yes that exactly how i feel lol that why i had to come on here and tell everybody lol, how long after Ellie smiled did she laugh?

amanda17 - March 14

Hmm Ellie was a late smiler. She was not a happy newborn and they thought she had colic and acid reflux but it turns out she has neither... so she didn't smile until she was 3 months... then she laughed about 2 weeks later. And she would only laugh right before her bath. She didn't actively laugh or smile until she stopped b___stfeeding and now she does it ALL the time :)

aww i cant wait lol but i dont want to wish away any growing up time as she ,s already growing too fast lol

Yeah if you've stopped doing sponge baths (or maybe they don't ask you to do that over there?) then she'll probably be in the best mood right before her baths. Try tickling her or b__wing raspberries on her belly. That's what got Ellie to laugh and her first laugh wasn't just a giggle she was cracking up! Ellie also likes it when I gently pinch her thighs. I'm not sure if babies learn to laugh or if they already know and are waiting for something funny so I'm giving you ideas just incase haha

no we dont sponge bath them and what do you mean you stop doing them lol, we got told to wash her with cotton wall in the bath. we bath her every other night and do a top tail wash on those days she doesnt have a bath. she loves her bath but since i,ve put her in the bath a couple of times with me she doesnt really like her little baby bath lol...........dont youi hate it when you have to take them out of thewarm water to dry them! Heidi hates it where its so cold and screams her lungs out! so what does a sponge bath consist of? bathing with a sponge? how do you clean her if you stop lol or am i being real dumb? irs 2.30 am here as im up feeding Heidi so do exuse my stupidness lol

Hang on I'm confused. What I meant by sponge bath is like... not in an actual tub. There's like this hammock thing you lay them on and you just clean them with a washcloth or sponge. They said for me to do that until she was able to sit up on her own but I didn't listen. I started putting her in a tub when her umbilical cord fell off. That's when she started liking bath time because she was actually in the water instead of freezing her b___t off. So when bath time came around she'd be in an awesome mood and very willing to smile and laugh.

oh i see well i supose thats kinda like her top and tail we lay her on her changinf mat and kinda wash all of her body with cotton wall.......yea that makes her freeze her but of too lol. its so cute when i put her in the bath though......she can be screaming and bam she.s in the bath and theres scilence lol

hey angel!! its soo great shes smiling. shes a doll really, adooorable! i saw the picture. One thing though, i see a rash on her face and was wondering if that was being treated or if its like a heat rash or something. I know wlucas had one like that and we had to put cream on his face for a few days. just watch out for that.

angelmonkey - March 15

thanks pb, yes the health visitor said there just milk spots, apparently b___stfed babies are more prone to them....the camera actualy makes them look worse lol some days there there some days there gone its strange... i think i have you on facebook i have millions of pics of her on there

amanda17 - March 15

Ellie gets a rash like that after she cries... it been happening since she was born, I'm told it's normal?

angelmonkey - March 15

i dont really know what causes these "milk spots" but it is normal, its also called baby acne i think, i know the midwife said something about it lol........all babys i know have it when there first born, i havnt met a baby who hasnt lol they should be gone soon

amanda17 - March 15

Ellie never had baby acne but my nephew had it really bad. It's supposed to be more common in b___stfed babies because of the hormones introduced to their systems but he still has it really bad and he stopped b___stfeeding like... 15 months ago?

PreciousBaby19 - March 15

i dunno, i was told byt he doctor to keep an eye on it. =) i dont remember what its called but i would keep an eye out just in case. I know some rashes can be really bad for babies.

PreciousBaby19 - March 15

oh, i looked on google, and if its on the arms or anything then it should be looked at by your doctor. And it advices to wash babys face two to three times a day with warm unsoapy water and pat dry. =) should go away in like amonth or sooner. =)

angelmonkey - March 15

i have an appoinment with the health visitor(hich is like a pediatrician in america i think)to get her weighed so i,ll double check........its not really like a rash its more like little pimples lol, i hope it goes away! somedays i hardly notice it, it has got alot better she has the odd day wheres it bad but thats it
