Ouch! I haven't even had my baby yet and I've got a clogged milk duct. I called my midwife and she told me to apply heat and massage it. I tried that and the massage wasn't working so I tried hand-expressing some colostrum. Well, it worked and I feel better now. I didn't know this, but the nipple actually has several holes that the colostrum/milk comes out of. I learn something new every day! So now that I've actually seen my baby's food come out of my br___t, things are feeling a little more real. I'm actually having a baby. Soon! Am I ready for this??? Lol :)

Definitely not! LOL! It is scary to think that very soon you will have a little one in your arms! Oh and wait until you express - there is more than a few holes! There is a proper jet in those b___sts!! Like a shower head almost! Be careful of the duct though and make sure you don't get any redness or flu like symptoms as it can turn into mast_tis that will need anti-biotics to clear. As long as expressing works to keep you clear carry on.

Like a shower head, yikes! That's a funny visual. :) Yeah, I'm trying to take care of this so it doesn't turn into an infection. So far it's a painful lump, no redness or flu-symptoms, thankfully.

Does the lump have to be on the actual b___st, or can it also be closer the armpit?

a lump closer to the armpit needs to be seen by a dr immediately

a lump closer to the armpit can be a swollen lymph node (sp?) i've gotten those and trust me i have gotten scans to make sure. sometimes if you wear clothes that are to tight around the area it can make them swell or even an ingrown hair after shaving. do get it checked out though but don't freak out at the first sight.
