I am 36 weeks with our second child. I had my first internal today, and am 0 and 0%. i was so hoping for atleast 1cm. Anyway, I want to take full advantage of whatever I can do to help things along. I don't want to induce labor at this point, I just want to help my body to dilate and efface. I started walking with a friend today, and I bought an excersize ball. I know squats are supposed to help, but how many do you do, or for how long? If there is anything else anyone can think of I would appreciate it.

That's a good question. I was wondering the same thing. I am in my 38th week, and I would like to speed things along safely. You know, without cohash tea.

Hi ladies, well you can spread your legs and bounce on the ball, that helps bring the baby down so he or she can put pressure on your cervix. Also sitting and rolling you pelvis in circle motions helps open you up. Squats I think you only need to do a few or whatever you can do. Also if oyu google birth ball exercises it may give you a few more that I forgot. Good Luck and hope it works out!!

I know there is surfactant in sperm, so s_x is an option. It just doesn't sound very appealing right now. my due date is July 24th, and my OB is leaving town on the 22nd, so I would really like to get things rolling before he is gone.

I WAS DILATED .5 CM FOR 2 WEEKS BUT THEN I STARTED TO HAVE s_x EVERY OTHER DAY. ORGASMS WORK TOO.. IF U HAVE s_x LIKE SIDE TO SIDE IT WILL BE MORE COMFORTABLE. I'VE BEEN DOING THAT FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS IM NOW 1. 5 CM.. NOT ALOT BUT IT HELPS ME GET CONTRACTIONS AND HER MOVING LOWER. IM 38 WEEKS. BUT U KNOW THE BEST THING ALSO IS WALKING AS MUCH AS U CAN. WALK WHEN U HAVE CONTRACTIONS..

I had my membranes stripped at 10 am at3 cm went home had s_x and an orgasm then walked and nipple stimulation and gave birth at 10 pm. I mean I was focused on giving birth that day!

I never showed any dialation or effacement with my 3 previous pregnancies until the day I was in labour. I was induced with the first 2 and I went into labour on my own with the 3rd the day of my due date, and had her the next day. I know this is TMI but it really does help. Have orgasms. Have them as much as possible. I don't mean just s_x with DH, but you need to have actual orgasms. It helps soften the cervix and I did it everyday for about a week and I went into labour on my own. My Dr. was surprised because he was sure I would be at least a week overdue and he was going to schedule and induction again. I didn't tell him what I did of course, lol, but I swear that is what helped me. I've tried everything, I even tried to eat a whole pinapple once, and intercourse never worked for me even when I was 2 weeks overdue. This is the only thing I have found to work. Try it!
