So i had my second internal today, and finally something had happened! I am now 1cm, 50%, -2. I know this could still mean weeks of waiting, but i am so happy to know i am getting closer!!!! i am 37w and 3 days! Does effacement have anything to do with actual labor starting?

I was 50 % effaced for 4 weeks so I dont think it does. Srry to say. It just means ur progressin...GOOD LUCK =)

Hmm, it doesn't mean much, but congrats! I know some women can start progressing and it keeps slowly going, others it can progress a little and stop, and progress and stop. Then you have some who all in one night will be at nothing and then have there lo all within a few hours. I had my dd at 37 weeks, my water broke. Gosh I don't remember everything in detail but I was a cm for a couple weeks around 30 weeks then 3 cm by 35 weeks, so I like slowly progressed. A few days before she came I actually counted and timed contrations for a day 3-5 minutes apart and not too painful so I waited them out. Now I'm having a little boy and am wondering how its going to happen this time?! Good luck!!

Congrats! Everyone is different for some it means it's around the corner- I was 50% effaced from 30 weeks and delivered at 39! It just depends on the body, baby, situation! Good luck!
