OUR BABY BOY IS FINALLY HERE!! HE WAS BORN JULY 17TH AT 5:50PM, WEIGHING 7 POUNDS 15 OUNCES AND 21 AND A HALF INCHES LONG. THIS LABOR AND BIRTH WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN MY FIRST. THE HOSPITAL CALLED AT 4:37AM FOR US TO BE TO L&D LATER THAT MORNING AT 6AM, THE 17TH. AT 7AM THE PITOCIN WAS PUMPING AND I WAS ALREADY 2.5 CM AND 50%. BY 2:30 THAT AFTERNOON I WAS 6.5CM AND 75%. AFTER THAT IT IS SORT OF A BLUR. WHEN I WAS 4.5CM I GOT MY EPIDURAL AND WAS ABLE TO RELAX. THE CONTRACTIONS I DID FEEL WERE PAINFUL, BUT TOTALLY MANAGEABLE. I COULD TELL FROM WHAT I WAS FEELING THAT THERE WAS NO WAY I WANTED TO GO ANY FURTHER WITHOUT THE EPI. MY ANESTHESIOLOGIST WAS AWESOME, AND A CHATTERBOX, WHICH WAS GREAT FOR ME BECAUSE HE KEPT ME OCCUPIED WITH HIS CONVERSATION. ONCE IT TOOK FULL EFFECT I WAS REALLY HAPPY. I FELT NO PAIN, UNTIL THE VERY END. I COULD FEEL A SMALL NAGGING PAIN WAY DOWN LOW ON THE RIGHT SIDE, BUT IT WAS REALLY NOTHING. THE NURSE, CHECKED ME AND I WAS COMPLETE, BUT NOT SURE WHAT TIME IT WAS. SHE HAD ME DO TWO PRACTICE CONTRACTIONS AND HAD SAID THAT SHE WOULD CALL DR. EDSTROM SHORTLY, THEN SHE GOT THIS LOOK ON HER FACE AND SAID, " I'M CALLING HIM NOW". JUST A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER HE CAME IN. I PUSHED THROUGH 4 CONTRACTIONS, THREE PUSHES PER CONTRACTION, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD, AS THE NORM IS ONLY TWO BEFORE THEY GIVE YOU A BREAK. THEN I HEARD HIM SAY TO THE NURSES, "I WANT THIS BABY DELIVERED WITH THE NEXT CONTRACTION", AND I NOTICED I COULD NO LONGER HEAR THE HEART TONES ON THE MONITOR. I LOOKED AT HIM AND HE SAW ME AND REPEATED WHAT HE HAD SAID. I RAISED MY VOICE A BIT AND TOLD HIM TO GET THE VACUUM. HE USED THE VACUUM AND DELIVERED THE HEAD. THAT IS WHEN EVERYONE SAW THAT THE CORD WAS WRAPPED AROUND OUR BABY BOYS NECK TWICE AND IT WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT. I WAS TOLD NOT TO PUSH, AND HE HAD TO CLAMP AND CUT THE CORD RIGHT THERE WITH ONLY THE HEAD DELIVERED. I WAS SO RELIEVED WHEN THE REST OF HIM FINALLY CAME OUT. IT TOOK A GOOD 20 MINUTES OR SO FOR HIM TO REALLY CRY AND PINK UP. THAT WAS STRESSFUL FOR ME. I ENDED UP WITH ONE SMALL 2ND DEGREE TEAR RIGHT WHERE AN APESIOTOMY WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE, AND IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME TOO MUCH. NATHAN IS b ___stFEEDING WELL, AND HAS LOST A LITTLE OVER 7 OUNCES. I FEEL LIKE MY MILK IS STARTING TO COME IN, BUT I AM NOT ENGORGED YET. NATHAN HAS BEEN EATING ABOUT EVERY 3 HOURS AND IS NOW IN HIS SWING SLEEPING. I WISH YOU COULD ALL SEE HIM RIGHT NOW, HE IS BEAUTIFUL. WE ALSO HAVE A TWO AND A HALF YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, WHO SEEMS TO BE ALRIGHT WITH THINGS THUS FAR, BUT WE HAVE ONLY BEEN HOME A FEW HOURS. IT IS SO WEIRD NOT TO BE PREGNANT ALL OF THE SUDDEN AFTER ALMOST 9 MONTHS OF DISCOMFORT. THIS IS OUR LAST BABY, AND I AM FINE WITH THAT, BUT I JUST LOVE THE BABY PART AND TO KNOW THAT I WON'T HAVE THIS FEELING AGAIN AFTER NATHAN IS A BIT OLDER MAKES ME SAD ALREADY. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL YOU OTHER MOMMIES AND MOMMIES TO BE. I WISH YOU ALL HEALTHY BABIES.

Thank you ladies. We are so happy to have our baby boy home with us, he is perfect and such a good baby so far. All he does is poop, pee,eat and sleep. He is so little, with this perfect little round head. We had visitors today, I should have put it off until next week because I am having a bit of trouble with the b___stfeeding and I haven't had much time to rest at all. Nathan's first pediatrician appointment is tomorrow moning at 11:30am, wish us luck!
