Hi! As I am sure most of you have heard about the plastic baby bottle fiasco with the plastic containing BPH which is toxic to people. I am unsure as to the proceedure being taken in the States, but here in Canada - Zellers is taking back any Plastic baby bottles that contain this chemical with no questions asked. It doesn't matter how old they are, they will return them. If you are unsure if the ones that you have are eligible, just call and they will tell you. I jsut returned a whole bag of Advent Platsic bottles to them at lunch that I was given by my cousin now that she is done with them and they gave me full price credit for them no questions. No reciept, no packaging, no nothing. Just the bottles. Now I will purchase some new glass ones in place. Pretty good deal. Check into it in your area! ?

good to know i will pa__s that on to my gf's. However, if you still want a plastic bottle, Medela and Born free bottles are plastic and BPA free.

for those of you who were planning to use avent, Gerber GentleFlow bottles are exactly like avent, but made from polypropylene, just like the Medela bottles, so they are also BPA-free. I just bought some for DD, and they even fit her avent nipples. The only think I don;t like is that I couldn't find them any smaller than 9oz bottle. Oh well, she's 16weeks, she'll need the bigger bottle soon enough.

Is there a list somewhere online or something listing safe and non-safe bottles? I registered for the Playtex Ventaire bottles, my next choice was to be the drop-ins by playtex and I don't know anything about these....

there shouldn't be any double dashes... like --....the single ones are ok. also if you want to know what products as in lotions and shampoos and soap are safe for your baby go to cosmeticdatabase.com.

I just bought the DR. Brown plastic bottles from Babies R us...now i'm worried...should i return them & get something different?

MommyAzure - April 24

I love my Dr. Browns bottles, used them with both my girls.

Target sells gla__s Dr. Browns. They are actually advertised on this page... to the left and to the right. I really would return the plastic and get the gla__s.

c___p, now they are gone. They do have them at target, just look online.

Softbreeze - Really, is it all Zellers in Canada ?!? I have not heard this anywhere ... I live in Winnipeg & if that's tha case I have a ton of Avent bottles I could bring in ... & I'll head over there after work. Whereabouts in Canada are you?

softbreeze200 - April 24

yes as far as I know it is canada wide. I returned about 25 avent bottles to them with no receipt and they gave me a 275.00 gift card for there. No questions. Maybe giev your Zellers a call and double check, but it was in the paper here. I am in Saskatoon and the lady at Zellers sadi they are swamped and their back room if full to the brim with bottles and pumps and sippy cups. They will return the Avent Isis b___st pump as well if you have one. They have a huge list with all different brands, so if you have others take them with you and they will check to see if they are on the list as well. Zellers is now carrying the dr. browns gla__s bottles as well so you could replace them with those if you like. Or the Playtex nursers with the drop in liners are safe as well. Good luck!!

Thank you Softbreeze!!! I just called the Zellers in my area in south WPG & they are doing the same thing - that is sooo awesome of them, I'm totally going there this weekend & have already told a bunch of my co-workers who are all women with young kids & babies & they are all going to bring their old bottles in as well.

Girls if you dont microwave your bottles you will be fine. I have an 8 week old baby we use the playtex dropins and i used the same with my now 9 year old son hes absolutely fine.

Just to let you all know I didnt see where it was mentioned in this thread about the chemical numbers on the plastic bottles....OKay you know if you look at the bottom of a SOLO cup there is the little triangle with a number in it? If you have any plastics that have the number 3,6,or7 IN that chemical symbol you arent suppose to use it...& 7 is the worst and down from there....The number represents the amount of harmful chemicals use to make that plastic item...I noticed alot of baby bottles dont have the symbol on it...I think it should be required, but i guess its not...I Have been useing playtex drop-ins both the bottle and the drop-ins are chemical #4 which IS safe. You can also use on the playtex bottles target brand drop-ins which work just as well, and also have a chemical number of 4.
