Has anyone had this done to them before? If so, did it work and how quickly after? I am just doing a poll right now. I have spoken with my sis and 2 friends and all 3 had it done and it didn't work for them. Just curious!

From my birth cla__s, I learned you shouldn't do it. It doesn't help and may cause more labor pain because the bag of waters evens out the pressure. It will happen naturally.

I'm actually getting it done tomorrow and i had it done with my daughter. It did work with my daughter, i had them sc___ped on a friday earlt afternoon, began having contractions friday late afternoon, went to the hospital saturday night and had my daughter at 830 sunday morning. I'm hoping it works that fast this time around.

Hi...I just talked to a friend of mine today who had this done with her first 2 weeks before she was due and she still went 2 weeks PASSED her due date. So, it didn't work for her...but whose to say it couldn't work for you? Good luck!!! :-)

I had it done when I was pregnant with my daughter and I went into labor an hour later.

I had this done the day before my due date. Contractions started an hour later, and my son was born about 11 hours later on his due date! But I must say, it hurt a lot to have it done.

I had it done with my 1son twice, it didn't work for me. It was very painful. The first time it was done at 38 weeks and she sent me walking after and I had contractions start but once I stopped walking, they stopped. The 2nd time my widwife did it I was 39 weeks, the baby stopped moving and I had to be put in hospital to monitor the baby and then they induced me and I still had to have a c section.

I had my membranes stripped at 39 weeks with my first, I lost my mucus plug that afternoon and went into labor the next day. My water broke first (slow leak, not a gush) and then contractions started right away and were only 2 minutes apart but it was all over in about 7 hours. I didn't get an epi so it hurt like HELL but it was short enough that I felt great about it after. I am now 29 weeks pregnant with my second and plan to have the same thing done at 38 weeks. The procedure was uncomfortable, I wouldn't say that it hurt alot...especailly compared to full labor, so in my mind that's no reason not to get it done. Good luck!
