What Do Your Contractions Feel Like

I know what the books say about how contractions feel but what do you think they feel like? What would you compare your contractions to? I told my dr when i was walking that it feels like the baby is balling up in a knot- she informed me that those are contractions. I had no clue they were contractions- i just thought he was balling up. I am really worried I won't know that I am having contractions b/c my mom didn't have very many with her three kids- any advice?

Balling up in a knot is a good way to decribe it. My stomach gets kinda lumpy, almost like I'm sucking it in and it's hugging the baby, and super hard. There's a tightening, clenching feeling, lots of pressure, and some crampyness. Trust me, you'll know when they get stronger and start to hurt!

sometimes i think i feel that but then i think maybe he is just moving. i have lots of dull-tightening pains in my back that last for about 20 sec or less but the dr says its ok and probably not contractions but they can't tell me what it is- oh they did mention it may just be gas ??

I'm 39.4 weeks and the contractions even now can sometimes feel like she's sticking her b___t out super far. Like kay said, it feels like you suck in your belly and it kind of hugs the baby and you can really feel where the baby is at. Fun fun fun!

Sounds like you are actually describing Braxton Hicks type of contractions. When I was prego I went to the hospital two different times thinking I was in labor from them, but mostly they dont hurt at all. Real contractions when you are in labor are much different, its not just a tightening, it also hurts (kind of like period cramping, but a little more)... however if you are getting an epi... you will not feel them at all, just the pressure below, and tightening like braxton hicks. I wish you the best of luck, not too much longer for you!
