I started reading about mucus plugs and it seems they are most commonly referred to as a big glob of snot. I've been having discharge that looks just like that, but the thing is, I've been having it since I was 13 weeks? When I was 13 weeks pregnant I got a va___al infection and that's when the snot-like discharge started happening. My infection is long gone, it lasted for maybe two weeks, but the discharge never went away. I just figured that weird discharge was normal during pregnancy, but now I'm worried I may have been losing my mucus plug this entire time! And, about two weeks ago there was a little bit of pink in it, it seemed too light to be blood so I just shrugged it off, since then I haven't had any more signs of it. What's going on? I'm only 29 weeks!

Amanda, I know exactly how you are feeling. I have had the same thing happening to me since the beginning of my 2nd trimester. It has been thick gross discharge that is almost like a paste and it had a mild smell to it. It stopped about 2-3 weeks ago. I am now 39 weeks and still have not seen any sign of my mucus plug with the redish tint. I don't even know if its there still or not. I know with my last pregnancy my mucus plug fell out in at the beginning of my 2nd trimester and the doctors said it was fine. I never had any problems but I think with out the plug you could get a yeast or v____al infection. You might just want to keep an eye on symptoms that may show signs of an infection. GL

You plug is constantly shedding and recreating itself during the time you are pg. You only have to be concerned if it is mixed with streaks of red blood. If it was pink or brown I wouldn't worry.
