April- With my first daughter, my water broke at 38 weeks. I went to L&D however was dilated at zero. They did give me the pitocin in order to dilate me. I had no drugs!! My labor was a total of 13 hours from entering the hospital until delivery of her. So, a delivery with no drugs and being induced can be done. This round, I most definately used the epidoral. I was scared about something going into my back, but my doc suggested this due to the whole "twin" factor. GOOD LUCK on your decision sweetie.

Brandy - I am very excited for you. I believe your time is around the corner. The whole crampy thing and little spots of blood after an exam is normal. (just in case you were wondering) It happened to me after every check, even in the hospital. Then in the hospital they stripped my membranes and it was really gross!! HAHAHA.......I can't wait to see pics of everyone's little bundles of joy along with hearing the delivery stories. GOOD LUCK LADIES!!!!

April, I had to get induced with my last 3 children with pitocin and I went so fast I didn't get time for drugs. The first time was faster then the second time and my 3rd child was breech so I did have to get an epidural so they could turn her and induce me. It was also due to making sure I was ready if they had to do a csection. My suggestion is to take big deep breaths through your nose and out your mouth to relieve contractions and think positive the whole time that it will be over soon and then you will have your lo in your arms which is soooooooo exciting. The after pain after having a child naturally and no drugs is so much easier to tolerate if there is any pain. Also try not to let them give you anything to ease the pain because seriously it does not work if its demerol, tordal or anything like that, it just makes your feel weird and you still feel the pain. I will be honest, contractions can be painful but keep your head up and thing positive, positive, positive. GL and I hope you can make it through with out anything.

Where is everyone this morning? Just wanted to share that I am actually (currently) feeling abit better. Planning on taking a little stroll later since I haven't been up and about for the past two days. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. Still waiting to hear from you ROBYN.

Monica, so good to hear from you. Hope you're settling into motherhood and the twins are doing well. How's Robyn & Little Justin? We're all so curious to hear from her! Melissa, glad to hear you're feeling better. Please pray that over the next week & 1/2 I keep dialating & making progress so my induction on the 4th goes smoothly! Of course, also, it would be nice for me to go into labor naturally!! It's so exciting to think that in 10 days I could be holding my baby. I get so emotional thinking about the journey. DH & I started TTC in October 2004, lost 2 along the way and now are about to be parents, finally. I feel so lucky and so blessed. I am scared about labor but also ready to face whatever comes my way so I can finally be a Mom!!! Monica, by the way, does it hurt when they put the epidural in? Just curious. Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Does anyone know when Melony is supposed to have her baby? I think she's having a scheduled c-section. Just curious.

Hey girls, gotta go to my birthing cla__s so I haven't made it through all the posts yet, but I saw Melissa asked if anyone had guidelines of when to go in. My midwife said when contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting at least a minute (not 45 seconds, not 55 seconds but exactly a minute) then to go in. I live 45 minutes away from the birthing center and she said that guideline still applies-- I might be an extra centimeter by the time I get there but I'll still be there a while. K2, I didn't miss your post I just didn't realize that was the updated version. I was worried about that blood so I guess I was looking for something more dramatic, hehe. Also I got an e-mail from Melony and everything is on schedule for her induction Monday. I'll send out pics as soon as I get them. Gotta head off to my birthing cla__s but I'll catch up later.

Just checked my email & was so excited to see pictures of Justin & the twins. Robyn, congrats on being a new Mom! And Monica, I can't believe how the twins have changed. Melony, best of luck on Monday & April, best of luck on Wednesday. I want to be next!!!

hi, just got back from my infant CPR cla__s. Really recommend it to anyone who is a first time mom like me. It makes me feel much more prepared. Melissa, so glad you are feeling a bit better. Erica, I have heard a lot about sperm acting to bring along labor. Actually I had a friend who went into early labor and they asked her at the hospital if she and hubby had s_x and if they used a condom, how wierd. Then they explained that it might have had something to do with bringing on labor. Me and my guy still struggling to decide on what stroller we want, it's worse than trying to buy a car, ha ha. living in the city I want something with good tires, on the other hand I don't wantsomething too heavy. Oh well tomorrow we are going stroller shoppping...

Hi ladies just wanted to drop in and say hi and see how everyone is doing and feeling. Sounds like everyone is pretty laid back today and doing fine.

Hey girls i feel awful for not getting on here we are home and everything is wonderful. This baby is perfect to us and we are completely and totally in love. We never thought we could feel this instant love a someone but we did and he was worth every single moment to have him here. I am blessed to have had the most wonderful doctors and for the best IVF doctor around because we havent this precious gift here today. As for sleep deprivation well.. last night was wonderful he only woke 2 or 3 times and the night before it was awful because we were going by what the hospital was saying to feed the baby every 3- 4 hours well.... rule of thumb girls when your baby is hungry FEED HIM/HER there are no specific time frames my sister told me this yesterday and we followed her advice and it worked i am hoping for the same results tonight. The recovery from the c-section has not been that bad i have been more than determined to get up and walk and do things if you just sit around you will not recover and the pain will just get soooo much worse. I barely take any pain meds only when it gets too much. I am going to post the birth story so here it is. I hope the rest of you are doing well i am going to read up on everyone.

CONGRATS ROBYN!!! How exciting and hope everything goes as you plan. Lots of new stuff to learn and everday is a new lesson. Again Enjoy and Congrats!!

Astra - February 23

Congratulations Robyn, that was such a wonderfuly honest and moving account, I was tearing up. I am so glad to hear you are all sleeping and enjoying. I can't wait to be after it all, just like you.

Sounds like you had a great experience. I'm glad things have calmed donw as far as the feeding. I remember (vaguely-7yrs is a long time ago, so I'm sure 9 yrs is even more difficult to recall) how hard it was to get a rhythm going. I finally conceeded to my dd's own internal clock, not some prescribed "feed her every 2 hours" or whatever. The one thing I DO remember most is SLEEP WHEN HE SLEEPS. The laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc can wait (hell, you have a 9yo, let him do some of that LOL); just SLEEP. ANyway...delighted to hear your story. Keep us posted over the next days to know how the adjustment is continueing. GL. SARAH- Dying to hear about your "baby day": appt, cla__s, and a shower! What did you learn, what progress have you made, and what goodies did you get? :) I am still feeling better as far as the intestinal junk is concerned, but am quite uncomfy with pelvic pressure and sporadic contractions. I was feeling cooped up inthe house and inactive so dd, Mom, and I went to do some shopping, hoping to waddle Reece into an exit strategy. :) Had a few doozy contractions, two trips to the bathroom (gross), adn biought dd her spring/summer wardrobe (it's in the low 80s here in Texas!), but that's about all. I think we'll attempt having s_x tonight, but he'll have to make it quick. I don't know if I have the patience for a "regular interlude". lol

ROBYN - February 23

Hey girls thanks it was definitely a surreal experience recovery is going as well as it can i have been determined from the get go that i will not be just sitting around though i am not supposed to do anything i dont listen LOL so basically since Wed i have been up and doing everything virtually no pain meds i do have my moments where i need to take something. Anyway Melissa - Anthony has been wonderful he is doing everything for me and Jason he a great helper and is showing no jealousy signs whatsoever he loves this little baby so much and yes as you will see that its a major change going from older kids to a newborn again but honestly its not nearly as bad as i feared it was going to be. I skimmed upwards and saw you were asking about circ_msicions we had Justin circ_mcized on Tuesday morning they only did one type of procedure at this hospital though they gave us a sheet with like 3 or 4 different ways that they do it. They did use a numbing solution on Justin and my OB did the procedure they said he barely even cried i of course was crying but i wasnt there for it. Hes in no pain whatsoever they kept gauze on him till Wednesday and now we just put vasoline on it and every diaper change he could care less.

Hey girlies.. for the last couple of days this thing wouldnt let me log in. Sometimes my computer be a bit psycho. Brandy Im so excited for you, sounds like you are well on your way to seeing your little baby. Astra: How did you do with the stroller? With our last little girl we purchased the graco quattro tour.. it was an awesome stroller and carseat. The stroller always felt like it was driving on air.. I would definatly recommend that one. Melissa: I am so so sorry to hear about all of your intestinal issues. They say that loose bowel movements are a sign of things to come.. so perhaps youll be holding your baby sooner then you think. MEL: Good luck on MOnday.. one more day and your baby girl will be laying in your arms!! YAY! Erica: How was the baby shower, and How are you today.. any cramping? K2: Are you feeling any better or are you still feeling crampies? Hope you keep a good eye on it, it could indicate new things happening. SARAH: Be careful with the one minute rule.. I know several women that had contractions that only got to 45 seconds long.. and they dialated VERY VERY quickly, I know for sure because I was the one holding the time watch for 3 of them. So just be careful. How are all the projects goin in your house?? still a busy girl? As for me.. things are splendid.. just waiting for my day to come to hold this little guy.. my hips have been aching.. not so much fun!! I cant wait to read more birth stories. BTW.. ROBYN and MONICA.. LOVE LOVE LOVEd the pictures! ~Kristin~

Chris1975 - February 24

Hi all! Robyn - congrats :) sounds like everythings going well now for you with your baby boy!! Sarah - I have to agree with Kristin. Our midwife was very clear to us that whether contractions last 30sec or 45 or 1 minute, if they are only 5 minutes apart we should get our a__s to hospital as it means we are very close. She also commented that some women never made it to full 1 minute contractions, so its only a rule of thumb. Ive been having heaps of really bad period like cramps about an hour each day..last night at 3am! was so bad it made me nauseas and i had tears in my eyes...but they didnt come in waves so figured it was just prelabour pains rather than any type of contraction etc. I still am not sure what they feel like!! haha. Guess when i get one that comes and goes routinely ill figure it out! still no sign of any plug or waters breaking , yet this bubs been engaged for 2 weeks now! Now im past the 38wk mark i just want him to come meet me and his daddy!!!!! My reflexologist showed us some "g-spots" for stimulating the uterus area, and dh has been ma__saging that plus back and tum in lavendar oil! Plus ive been walking and eating spicy foods! Nada yet. Better try the s_x tonight! lol. Tho its VERY uncomfortable these days with bub digging at my cervix.
