hey ladies, I had my appt at 12:30 and I am still only 1cm dilated, but the cervix is soft. So not really any progression from last week. My OB has scheduled me for an induction on Monday Aug 4th at 8am. He wanted it for Friday Aug1st, but the hospital was fully booked. Pepperperson, what did ur contractions feel like? Cramps or pressure? Just wondering so i will recognize them if and when I ever get contractions. That sucks they stopped, I would be so frustrated too.

Pepper, it is frustrating when they start and stop like that. That is funny that the MA told you, you were too happy to be in labor! It won't be long. Mari, the 4th isn't that far off. Are you all ready for the baby... nursery done, carseat installed? It is so exciting when you get close and know the exact date and when you are going in. If you are dilated at all and soft, those are prime conditions for induction. Did your OB say you were effaced at all?

The ones I had last night were more consistantly "strong" than the ones I had previously. Previously, I'd have a strong one, and then a lighter one, etc. To me they felt like tightening. Your ab muscles will get very hard when they're contracted. I hope that helps. have you tried any accupressure points? I've been trying those as well.

MJV - I know...I guess she was looking for me to be much more despirate. lol She was right though. We're 30 min. away from the hospital, and since they were coming pretty close and consistantly, we thought we should call before it got too late. Do any of you guys get the sharp stabbing type pain that comes and goes? It doesn't seem to happen if I'm laying down or leaning back. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with dilation. I'm hoping so.

I know that feeling. It's like you are being stabbed in the cervix with a hot poker. I'm so glad I'm not pregnant anymore... I'm not good at it. LOL

Hey! Just popping in to see how you girls are doing! I can't believe July is almost over....wow, this month flew! Good luck ladies on your births and I am excited to hear how it goes. Come to the infant care forum when you can!

good morning ladies! pepperperson, I have been getting tightening of my abdomen reccently, but it does not last for that long. I have been getting sharp stabbing pains in my lower abdomen, and sometimes in my cervix area. When I go to sleep and have to get up and pee, it is so hard because my belly weighs so much. And turning from once side to the other is like a huge event for me.LoL I think I wake my husband up everytime I switch sides. heheheMy doctor thinks the baby will be about 8lbs 4oz!!!MJ, everyday is going to seem so long from til MOnday! We do not have the nursery ready because we are moving the day after my induction. Once we get into the new place, which won't be until september, then we can get the nursery all done up. :) The car seat is installed, so at least we have that!!! lol My OB did not say whether I am effaced, but said my cervix was ok to be induced. I am going to do alot more walking this week, and hopefully the baby will drop more. It is exciting to know I will have the baby my Monday night, or maybe sooner if I go into labour myself. How is everyone else today?

Mari, I totally spaced that you were moving. Who is going to move you since you and your hubby will be in the hospital?? I know how excited and anxious you must be. The last week was torture for me. I felt miserable, but at the same time knew the date was less than a week away. I just kept myself as busy as possible. It sounds like that won't be a problem for you since you probably still have packing to do. Well, I got about 4 hours of sleep combined last night. I am so tired. during the day Nathaniel eats every three hours (from start of feeding to start of the next feeding), and throughout the night he eats every four so I can have that extra hour of sleep. Yesterday was his second pediatric appointment and he is gaining weight well. He was 7pounds 15 ounces at birth, and was down to 7 pounds 7 ounces when we left the hospital. Now, he is 8 pounds 2 ounces and eating about 3 ounces at each feeding. It is still hard to believe that we have two kids now.

this move is driving me nutts! It was so not planned to move and have a baby at the same time. lol We have hired movers and my parents will be out our house on moving to direct them. All our stuff will be going into storage for 5 weeks, while we wait for the news house to be finished. At least the packing keeps me busy. Nathaniel sounds like he is doing great! :) What is the age difference between ur children? I cannot wait to become a mother, it is going to be such an amazing experience.

mjvdec01 - July 29

That is great that you will have help form your parents. My kids are 29 months apart. Being a new mom is really hard and frustrating and wonderful all at the same time. It is weird feeling to be that happy and that miserable all at once. I live being a mommy. Please do take all the help you can get. If your mom has a lot of time to spend with you then take it. It really does take a good 3-4 months to get in to a groove. That doesn't necessarily mean a schedule either. Babies dictate that on their own. You have to be a lot like a Boy Scout... "always prepared", in and outside the house. Just a suggestion, make sure you have some disposable changing pad covers, and those scented plastic bags for wrapping up dirty diapers when you don't have a trash to throw it in. Also, a cannister of Wet Ones disinfectant hand wipies. I use them to wipe down public changing stations and my hands after a diaper change if say I have to change a diaper in the van. Anyway, I hope that by the time you get discharged form the hospital that your new home is somewhat organized and unpacked. Is this a bigger home than the one you sold?

pepperperson - July 29

After all those contractions....the dr said today...NO CHANGE!! Still 2cm dilated and 90% effaced. She said the baby is still so low that any time I could have her. but, 5:30pm Sunday I go in for cervidil, and then on MOnday morning they'll start the pitocin, if needed.

mjvdec01 - July 29

Pepper, you and Mari will be having babies on the same day! I am so excited for both of you. You will do great.

Mari26me - July 30

Good morning ladies!!! Still no signs of labour for me. MJ, our news house is bigger than the one we sold. Unfortunately, when I get out of the hospital we have to go and live with my parents for 5 weeks. The new house won't be ready until Sept 11. We got delayed with the builder after we sold the house we are in now. But, at least we will have help everyday with the baby while we stay at my parents house. Thanx for all the suggestions, I am definitely going to make sure we have it all once the baby comes home. :) Pepper & Miscott, how are you both feeling today?

mjvdec01 - July 30

Mari, I swear my memory and mental capacity is severely diminished from the frustration and lack of sleep. I knew you weren't moving right in to your new home... sorry. The 5 weeks before you get in to your home will go pretty fast, plus it will be so nice for you to have your mom at your beckon-call. I wish I had that luxury. My mom lives over and hour away, so I don't see her much more than once or twice a month. We do talk on the phone everyday though. You and Pepper only have 5 days left!!

mjvdec01 - July 31

Mari, Pepper, how are you two feeling today? I am doing a little better everyday. I am so lucky that Nathaniel is such a mellow baby.

Mari26me - July 31

Good morning! Mjv, I cannot believe I only have 4 days left!!! I am excited and a little nervous at the same time. I am feeling not too bad today, but last night I woke up with such a horrible pain in my back. The pain was on my left side, so I could only sleep on my right side to relieve the pain. I hope that it is not the beginning of back labour? :( When u were pregnant, did ur babies get the hiccups alot? MIne seems to, especially at night. U are so lucky to have a mellow baby, I really hope our baby is mellow too.
