Hi ladies just a quick question fo royu all. Ummm I was wondering about is it okay for me to paint or not? I will be in a room with 2 fans and the window wide open. The thing is my hubby sucks big time at painting and is too stubborn to ask for help. I want it done right and I want to help along with it. Now I wont be doing the high stuff just mainly the edgeing and the lower portion of the room. Its our nursery and it has been sitting prepped, which I did already, for 3 weeks. I want it done!!!! Any response would be great!!!! Thank you ladies and have a great weekend!!!

We painted our DS's nursery when I was 30 weeks after asking both my OB and my peri. They both said it was fine as long as the room was WELL ventilated, I wasn't climbing ANY height ladders, I was drinking a lot of water to stay hydrated during "strenuous" activity (and it wasc oncidering the regular daily stuff), and I took breaks peiodically. The worst of it was how sore my back and legs were once it was done. But the satisfying feeling I got from seeing his room so close to ready was totally worth it. Go for it, but take precautions.

Yeah, my doctor said it was ok (I helped paint the nursery, and our guest room too) as long as I listened to my body and quit when I was tired. He cautioned against doing too much work with my arms above my head (hard on the heart, and with pregnancy, our hearts are already going overboard). He also said to take it easy with the rolling (not too vigorous), as too much of that sort of movement can dislodge the placenta (but you have to be going crazy, and you'd get tired before you reached that point). So, go for it! Just take breaks, work slow, and pay attention to how you feel. You'll be fine. Oh...and try to stay away from oil-based paint. Mind you, you'll be well ventilated, either way...Have fun!

If it is latex paint and not oil-based you will be fine.

There is paint that you can buy that is non toxic with no fumes, why not just get that. They sell it anywhere you can buy paint.

I as well painted the last few weeks of my pregnancy.... I painted a mural on my daughters wall, so I was doing stuff 2 hours a day for at least 2 weeks... my doctor o.k.'d it and just said that If I started to get light headed from the smell to take a breather and go back to it when I felt up to it... and my daughter is fine..oh and I painted our kitchen when I was pregnant w/ my son and he is fine too. Just have fans going to help w/ the fumes cuz w/ our super sent_tive nose/smell while pregnant, it can get really stinky.
