Hi ladies question, I would ask my doc but I dont have another appointment until the 7th. Um my question is is it okay to sleep in a reclined postioin like either in a recliner or in bed. The reason I ask is because I dont want to be doing this if it is going to hurt my baby but after a few hours on each side even with a pillow between my legs my hips are killing me. Laying or sleeping reclining is usually the only thing that helps. I just want to make sure it is safe of if you have any other suggestions that would be great. Thank you!!!

I would say it is ok but not to do it for too long. I think it is more of a problem if u sleep directly on your back where that main artery is and the baby needs that support from the artery. I hear ya about sleeping on your sides and it hurting no matter what side you sleep on. They get numb but that annoying numb that hurts and you feel the need to sleep on your back. I stretch laying on my back for a couple minutes to relieve my hips but unfortunately I go back to my sides to avoid any harm to the baby. Reclining is fine. I have been told by my doctor that I can sleep like that to avoid or relieve heartburn since that can be a problem for a lot of women.

I sleep on my side, but propped up by a lot of pillows. My doc says any position is fine since you will feel uncomfortable before the baby. When I went for my last U/S I had to lie on my back and within a few mintues I felt flushed and nauseaous, after laying on my side it went away, and now I know what my doc meant, I couldn't have missed that feeeling for anything. I guess if you are comfortable so is the baby.

I also feel most comfy in our reclining chair (except that hemheroids start to get irritated lol) b/c of my hips, but it only reclines to maybe a 145 degree angle. Even using pillows wedged in every possible spot isn't as comfprtable. My OB said the same thing as Astra said, "when you feel uncomfortable change positions." At this popint, do whatmakes you comfy and then switch when you need to.
