Could It Be Twins Help Please

I took a pregnancy test at 9 days before my missed period, with a negative result (wasn't surprised). But the next day at 8 days before my missed period the at home urine test came back positive. Could this mean I have ultra high HCG levels and thus be pregnant with twins (or more)? I have never had any fertility treatments and twins do not run in my family, although I know that's not always necessary. At 5 weeks my ob said he wants me to come in for an ultrasound at 8 weeks. Anyone with similar story?!

My u/s results came back clear this week: one little b___terbean for this mommy! My Dr did say though that a very early positive can sometimes mean twins, just not in my case! Have you found anything out yet Sadiejai? Hope all is going well for you!

I no longer believe that one has to have twins in their family to have twins or that it skips a generation. I have 2 sets of twins and i was the first in my family to have them. I did'nt take any drugs it was all natural. Funny thing is that my boys are 16 and my girls are 9 but my boys and my girls do not have the same father go figure huh i say it was god's little jokes or his little miracle.

I had an u/s done at 6 weeks showing 3 sacs, however only 1 baby in one of them. Is this common? i am supposed to go back in 2 weeks for another ultra sound, however im still so confused. Could this develop into something more? or are they just empty? At 6 weeks my blood tests are normal, not high, and i am experiencing pretty bad nausea and exhaustion this early on...any advice?

Hi Bostonga121,
It is possible to see only the sacs on early U/S. And 6 weeks is early. Sometimes people can have an u/s at 5 weeks and see their babies, and others don't see anything until 7 weeks and sometimes later. It is COMMON to be off by a few days of how far along you are too. So you could think you're 6 wks but you could only be 5.5 wks.
Try not to worry though!!!!! I know it's hard. But at this point, it could go either way and there's no way to know for sure which it will be, so just try to relax.
When do you get another U/S?
How exciting though, yeah!!! Triplets!!! Oi!!!
I'm saying a little prayer for you and your babies!! Good luck!! Can't wait to read the update from you!!

Thank you very much GNA,
Yes this is all so new to me in the first place, but then to throw me for a major loop with possible triplets is a whole new ball game. I go back for another u/s in 2 weeks, so we will see what happens. Either way its all a blessing. THank you again for the feedback! Big hig*
