You know, there are so many answers to a question like this, I am reading, based on statistics, as well as people's personal observations not part of any formal study. Insofar as formal studies/statistics go, one would tell you that your chances of twinning are more probable if there are Fraternal twins on your MOTHER's side. But let me tell you something weird with respect to my experience. I had twins (no clomid). The only twins in my own family are my mom's brother's and his wife's twins, which are identical girls. However... on my HUSBAND's side.... there are 3 sets of fraternal girls! All are old ladies living in Nebraska now. There could be more, but I don't know because we have been divorced for 10 years. Now, my husband's current wife, just found out she is expecting..... TWINS! Twins do not run in her family, she says. I don't know if she took any fertility drugs. She is 39 and my ex is 47. In the book "Having Twins" by Elizabeth Noble, she talks a bit about cases where twins seemed to result on the father's side. I think anything is possible. We can't say we know EVERYTHING right now about conception and twin conceptions. When I observe my (ex) husband's family history and current expectatioin of twins with a different woman, I have to wonder...!
