I am trying to find out the same question about starting clomid without having a period. My doc is on vacation and the nurse said to go ahead and start the clomid anyday cause on am on day 34 and no period. We know forsure that I am not pregnant. I was having what were like periods twice a month for a few months and now that doc put me on clomid.........I am not getting a period. I just wasn't forsure to just start it anyday like the nurse said cause I did see by others post that they were prescribed something to start a period. I have had all sorts of test done and the test show nothing wrong. Just wasn't forsure to follow the nurses instructions or not. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Okay first I am not lecturing I am just protecting myself here okay. There are dangers to using clomid with out a doctors prescription so if you use it and follow any advice I give you must know that I am not a doctor and I am not responsible for any negative outcomes of using any unprescribed meds. I personally wouldn't start it without having a period first. Its up to you but it may end up being a waste. Also Anathi, since you are not 100% sure that you are not pregnant please don't start taking anything. Although it is rare some pregnancies do not show up for weeks after they have occurred. You really do not want to risk hurting a baby that you might be carrying right? If you don't get your period in the next week or so see a doctor. You don't have to tell them about the clomid if you don't want just tell them that your period is late (exaggerate if needed). That way they can do the necessary tests to make sure nothing is wrong. If the tests come back okay then you can probably start the clomid. As for when to start if you have not had a period.. Thats sort of iffy because you may not have a period and you may still ovulate which could cause you possibly to take the clomid to late. However since there is a large range day 1 to day 5 of when various people are prescribed to take the clomid you can start right away. Some people take the pills day 1-5, 2-6, 3-7, 4-8, 5-9.. So nomater which day you may be on you can pretty much guarantee that your starting it in that range. Once you've started it you take it for 5 days. Then stop.. I would bed down every day after that since you really are not going to know when you ovulate unless you are using LH strips to find out when you surge. Hope that helps. -Laura

As for my situation, I know I am not pg and haven't had a period. I am on day 34 and have been using the LP surge strips since day10 and still nothing. I think that is why the nurse said that it is okay if I go ahead and start my clomid anyday and just to keep testing and keep things wrote down. I just wanted to basically know if it was okay to start the clomid or if anyone else know cause from the other posts on here that I have read................most people always started with a period. So, was just looking for any answers.

I was also wondering if someone could tell me when to begin the baby aspirin and mucinex and when I should stop them. I have seen that lots of people also use these while taking clomid. Thanks again!

I have heard different reasons for the baby aspirin and each reason would mean that you would start it at a different time. I am going to start my "treatments" in June and when I do I plan to start the baby aspirin the first day of my period just to be sure. Also I've hear you can start musinex, robotussin, and/or preeseed also on the first day of your period or otherwise the last day.. Those last 3 are only to improve your cervical mucus. But supposedly the cold meds take a little longer to work then the preseed. I have a preseed suppository that I'll probably start using a couple of days before I plan to induce ovulation. I also plan to start taking prenatals one month before and quit drinking all cafine and up my intake of milk one month before also. I also have a bottle of folic acid that I'll probably start the first day of my period. I purchased enough supplies and such for 4 cycles but I know that if I don't get pregnant after 4 trys I will not try again using meds. Shelly in your case I cant see any reason not to start now. How long are your cycles normally? My cycles are normally 31-32 days so If I were you I would be in like my 2nd or 3rd day of my next cycle so that would be the perfect time to start.

one more thing I am hoping for a girl (or girls) so without meds I would normally have intercourse up until the 4th day before I Ovulated. I would also try not to Orgasm. There is a slight difference between female and male sperm. Female sperm carry more genetic material so they are naturally slightly larger which in turn makes them a little slower also. They are also hardyer so they can withstand more stress. Male sperm are the exact opposite. So if I wanted a boy I would have s_x closer to ovulation I would use a ton of preseed because it helps them swim and doesnt kill them off and I would hope for deap penetration. (sorry if too tmi) but since I am hoping for a girl (girls) I would normally stop having intercourse 3-4 days before ovulation (female sperm live longer and can live 5-6 days) and I would not normally use preseed because I would want the hostile conditions to kill off the male sperm. By the time I would ovulate there would be many more female then male sperm waiting for the eggs increasing my chance to 75 or 80% for having a girl. Since I am doing the clomid though I'll probably only use preseed up to the 3rd day before ovulation. I wont use it on the second day and I wont have s_x and I wont use it on the day of ovulation and I wont have s_x then either. However on the day after just to make sure the cycle wasn't a failure I will use preseed and I will have s_x.. Does that make anysense? Although my chances of concieving a girl on that last day are VERY LOW I will still have s_x just incase for some reason the eggs werent fertilized by my prior attempts. I know very complicated. I have a book called "How to Choose the S_x of Your Baby" by Landrum B. Shettles and David M. Rorvik. That explains the non med way of attempting to choose the gender... However I have added the extra based on the research I've done about clomid

My cycles use to be like almost exactly a month apart and then took a turn for the worse and were like 2 a month for 3 months and now when I was gonna start my clomid.......I get nothing. How could I 4get to thank u with the baby s_x infor I've been searching all over now I'm covered ! I would ;like to have a BOY I mean BOYS (twins). I'm already working on my temping and have started Folic. The worst part was I so scared cos I was so late with my af I only af'ed 01/03 now I'm find of confused wether is it for Feb( now that the mnth only ended ion the 28 instead of 31) or March. Could there be something ne wrong ? This cycle was too long (up to 35days) normally I 'm on 29-30 pliz help is there anything wrong.

The thing is at this time I want everthing intect ready for April ! My next OBY app is next month !
