geewife1 ~ Hi! Have you taken any more tests? Can your doctor order blood tests for you to go and do before the 1st? I'm still holding positive thoughts for you that it's implantation bleeding :) It just sound like it..........My thoughts are with you!! To all the teachers :) I am also a teacher and did one round of 100 mg clomid on days 3-7, with a follicle scan on day 12. They determined there were 2 eggs, nd have us our "homework." It worked, and we're expecting May 19th. I've heard really positive things about 100mg doses and days 3-7. I know it's doctor preference though. Maybe try it that way if you can!!! Best of luck to all!!

good to see you are still reading sammommy. May 19 is a great day that is the day my husband and I got married 7 years ago. I haven't had a pregnancy test since the 20 or 21st. It still read negative. I am tired of this! I don't want to take another one I get really emotional everytime I see the negative. IF it is implantion bleeding how long does it last? Right now it's two options either start my period! Or get a postive result! I am tired of this guessing game. Right now I don't care If my period comes on I can accept that I am not preg. But I can't deal with this wondering mind. I just want a blood test! If nothing changes by wed. I will see if I can have the blood wk done before the 1st. wheew............ what a month

congrats sammommy! what is the difference between taking 50mg & 100mg? Is it supposed to give you a stronger O? I just finished my last pill of 50mg (2nd cycle, days 3-7). I had a follicle scan last month & then an hcg shot, but the dr. said that there is no need to do a scan this month, I just need to come in for the shot. If I am not pg. this month, I will ask the dr. about going up to 100mg. also, do you happen to know what the difference is in taking Clomid on days 3-7 or 5-9? I always forget to ask that when I am at my OB's! geewife, it does sound like that could be implantation bleeding. I think that normally occurs around the time AF would show up. If AF is going to who up, I would think she would be here by Wed. How many DPO are you? Good luck...I hope it works out!!!

Hi everyone. What's the difference between taking clomid days 5-9 or days 3-7? My doctor has always had me taking it days 5-9, but I wonder if I should try 3-7? Day 3 is today, though... Congrats Sammommy-- it's always nice to hear success stories!

meg - September 24

Hoping, I just asked the same question! I'm taking it days 3-7. The only difference I have heard of is that taking it on days 3-7 creates more follicles, while taking it on days 5-9 creates fewer, but more mature follicles. I've also heard that 5-9 is the more traditional (older) way. I'm hoping that someone else may have some more info!

I a__sume that (dpo) means days past ovulation I am not good with the abrievation all the time anyways... I don't even know if I o'ed If I did It could have been anywhere from September 1 through the 7 considering you can o'ed anywhere from 5- 12 days after taking the last pill. I finished my last round on Aug 27th. 5 days after the 27th was Sept 1st the 12th day was Sept 8. If you read my previous forum I stated earlier that I was having trouble with O tests that they were expired. I rmember having all these period like symptoms when I was at my Ovulation [window]. So I am not even sure if I even O'ed to begin with. My situation is getting more tense every day when I don't see AF but feel like she's been here all a long. I'll keep you posted

I am like you geewife1. I am praying that I start before Friday so that I do not have to take Provera. Maybe something will happen for us soon.

I am new to this. I have just finished my 5-9 days on clomid. My doctor didn't have me to come in to see how many follicles I have. I have PCOS. I conceived my first in just one month and now having a lot of trouble. I ovulate sometimes, just not all the time. I am getting anxious. I would love to have twins. That is what I am hoping for but will be happy with one as long as it is very healthy. I thought I was pregnant when my doctor put me on clomid. They never done a blood test. I am hoping I haven't been taking clomid and hurting the baby if i am preggo. I have got negative pregnancy test though. I am looking for encouragement and someone to talk to.

meg you are rightI in theory, days 3-7 of Clomid lead to more follicles and fewer side effects on the lining and the mucus. Days 5-9 lead to better development of just a few follicles. It seems to make a difference for some women and does not make any difference in others.

elwood- have you had any spotting or pms symtoms? I have read that provera can delay the mensus for the following month it may take a few extra days to start AF the body has to have a drop in progesterone between 2-4 to begin AF. I read this earlier. So now I am wondering is this spotting a side effect of the provera. I am still spotting I checked this morning hoping to see AF but I didn't it was the same ol same oh. It is like my body is trying to start but it just want. All I can do now is pray and wait to see if comes on or take that dreadful drive to the doc. office next week.

I need some hopeful words...I was feeling pretty c___ppy the past few days and was concerned that I was overstimulating my ovaires on the Clomid. I went for an ultrasound and was told that I am about to release 4 eggs possibly TODAY! The Dr. wanted me to be aware this is a strong possbility for more than one baby. has this happened to anyone here resulting in a multiple-I would be happy with one, any baby would be a blessing. I am so excited right now...anyone with a similar story with a success involved?? Thanks!

elwood - September 25

geewife1- I have not had any spotting or anything. If I start the Provera Friday I usually start the day I stop taking it. Two months ago I took the Provera for 7 days and in August they told me to take it for 12 days to try to get my progesterone levels up. Who knows? Sometimes I don't think the doctors do. If you don't start soon I would def go get a blood test to see whats going on. Do you have a really good doctor? I am in process of finding a new one because mine moved.

meg - September 25

NIcole-Good luck!! What days are you taking Clomid? How many mgs? I had an ultrasound done last month right before my hcg shot, but the dr. only mentioned 1 follicle. I don't necessarily want twins (that's definitely not my reason for taking Clomid), but I would like to have more than one follicle...to increase my chances of becoming pg!

I have been on clomid day 5-9 for 6 cycles and nothing happened. dont know what to do. does stopping clomid bring back the periods?i didnt have periods for 6 month abt aft taking clomid they come every 35th day so am thinking if i stop clomid as you cant take it for more than 6 months will my periods go as well.

Meg and Hoping1 ~ Here is my understanding of Clomid doses and days taken......Clomid blocks the estrogen receptors, tricking your body into believing it needs more estrogen, therefore producing more. I'm a__suming the higher the dose, the more estrogen is produced helping the uterus get ready to receive an egg. It also stimulates the pituitary to release more LH and FSH which then causes the ovaries to produce more eggs and follicles. Therefore, higher dose of Clomid, more good hormone levels. Again, that is just my understanding :) As for the days 3-7 vs. 5-9, I have also read that earlier days produce more follicles. With my combination of 100 mg and days 3-7, I had 2 follicles measuring 16.7mm and 16.9mm, one on each side on my day 12 follicle scan. The follicles grow approx. 2 mm a day with 20mm considered mature. I still don't know if they both released or not!!! We'll see in a few weeks :) I should also add that I was on 2500 mg of Metformin for my PCOS, so I'm sure that helped a little with the ovulation. Just a reminder that if you are on Metformin and get pregnant, don't stop taking it. New studies show it can lead to miscarriage. I'm sending happy baby thoughts for all :)

Meg- I took it days 5-9 50ml. I was hoping for one, I knew it was possible but WOW. I am shocked. I'll tell you though-I have been so bloated and sick as a result of having so many, so the Dr says?? This is my first cycle taking it. You?
