Kimmer23 - October 15

Hi Everyone! I've never written anything on one of these forums, but I think this looks like a helpful, supportive forum. I just started taking clomid this cycle. I haven't had a non-induced period since Dec. 2006 (when I stopped taking birth control pills). Since then, my husband and I have been "tryin" I guess, but to no avail because I'm not ovulating. I took prometrium on 3 occasions to induce my period. This month I took the prometrium and started clomid on days 3-7. Right now it is Day 13, so my husband and I have been "trying" every day/every other day since Day 9. I would love to get pregnant right away - of course. But, I really hope that I at least ovulate. Oh yeah, I'm taking 50mgs of clomid this cycle. I'm not getting a mid-cycle ultrasound (althoug I kinda want one), but my ob wants me to come in on Day 21 and get a blood test to check my pregesterone levels to see if I ovulated. I don't know what comments I expect, but it's just nice to know that others are going thorugh the issues that I'm going through...

Welcome Kimmer- You are not alone. That is why I like this forum so much hands down- because it is support from people who truely understand. Not people who are fertile myrtles and look at you and "say" they understand. My doc is doing the same thing.. no ultrasound, just blood test. I kind of think I might be ready to do this ultrasound thing if I can. Does anyone know how much that costs? I do have insurance, but my ins. wont cover clomid, so I have to pay out of pocket for that. It's worth it if it brings a baby, but you know that is going right now. :-l. Anyway- best of luck to all.

Hey Everyone! Sorry I haven't been on the past week or so. I have been so busy with work and all. So today I will start the 100mg of Clomid for days 5-9 and hope and pray that it works! Good luck to everyone!!!

geewife1 - October 15

I am right behing you elwood. I start my 100mg of clomid tomorrow. days 5-9 as well. On the 23rd of this month I am going for my follice scan. Best of luck to us all.

Hoping1.... U/S in a clinic setting cost between $400-$500 here in fla, and if you go to a hospital it is about a $1000 dollars. I would think that your insurance would cover the u/s. Do you have pcos? If you do then they shouldn't have a problem with it. Because of my hypo-thyroid and my pcos my insurance even covers the clomid for 6 months I only paid $10 for them.(my insurance doesn't cover iui or ivf of course) On the diagnostic code for billing purposes to make sure insurance pays my doc usages the terminolgy ovarian cyst because of the pcos. It makes a difference if you have a crafty doc who really cares. If you don't have pcos maybe that is why the insurance if having trouble paying for it. wishing you luck hoping1.

I just read on another website that you can get generic clomid from Wal-mart for only $9. They didn't say what dose???

Well laides, I went for my blood test this afternoon to check my hcg...I will find out tomorrow. I am keeping my fingers & toes & everything in between crossed! I am still testing positive on HPT's! I went to the Dollar Tree after my appt. & got a test there, & it was also positive...& it had only been about 90 minutes since I had gone to the bathroom. I just want it to be tomorrow already! I am still having cramping, but for the most part, the spotting has stopped. I had a tiny bit of brown today when I wiped, but nothing since. Hoping, my insurance did not cover the Clomid either, but they did cover the ultrasound (follicle scan). Jessica, the $9 for generic Clomid from Walmart, must be with insurance covering it. They definitely don't sell it OTC. There is something that is supposedly similar to Clomid, but it's OTC. I think it's called something like isoflaves.

Hi meg. Today will make 14 dpo for You I believe. You are going to be so happy tomorrow when they tell you it is really a positive....smile. As I stated before I believe that could have been implantion bleeding. I have read that women usually get it when there AF is supposed to come, and they described it just as you have and they are indeed prego. I got hope for you! I got a feeling this may be it for you meg!

meg - October 15

Thanks geewife!!! I sure hope you are right. Yep, it is either 13 or 14 DPO...14 days since my hcg injection, so it should be out of my system. AF is definitely late. I have not had any more spotting since my little bit of brown earlier this morning, but I'm so nervous! I just hope they have my results by 10am...if not, I'll have to wait another 2 hours before I have a chance to call, & I don't think I can be that patient! I also don't have any HPT's left, I don't think I can go that long w/o testing. :-) Good luck w/ Clomid this month. I'm going to get my BFP tomorrow & you are going to be right behind me!

FYI....the walmart price is through their generic prescription drug program (obviously not OTC). Anyways I looked it up on the walmart website to verify and it does list Clomiphene (generic Clomid) for $9.

Hoping1 ~ My follicle scan cost $130. It was covered by insurance, so I paid $51. Clomid wasn't covered for me. I think as the Dr. doesn't state that the u/s is for infertility, you should be fine. I have PCOS though, so I'm not sure if that was a factor or not. Usually if your insurance doesn't cover a procedure, the Dr. office will charge you a cash rate which is considerably less than the insurance rate. I love how all that stuff works :) Ask them what both charges are. they should also be able to see if your insurance would cover it for you or not :) Best of luck!!

Meg I really hope that this is it for you!! It really sounds like you are preggy. Good luck for today. Kimmer23 i'm the same as you I only have the day 21 bloods to check my progesterone levels. They told me that anything over 30 is ok. I'm about to start my 3rd round of 50mg clomid. my levels for the last 2 months were 140.2 and 190. They reckon they're really good - has anyone else had results this high? If they're really good why aren't i preggy!!!

meg - October 16

Thanks CJ! I hope to be getting my results in about an hour! Good luck w/ Clomid this month...I'm sure it'll work for you! I don't know much about progesterone, but your numbers are really high, which is great! Jessica, $9 is a really good price for generic. My Clomid was also generic & it was still $25 for 5 50mg pills.
